Hey all! I know I haven't been posting much - did you guys know that taking care of a newborn sort of takes up all of your time?
I was wondering if anyone else is having trouble losing weight. I gained about 40 - lost 20 of that by 2 weeks PP and haven't lost any weight since. I'm only breastfeeding part time so maybe that has something to do with it. I've not worried about it until now but now that I'm 2 months PP I'd like to focus on losing a little bit more.
also, does anyone else still look pregnant? I've had a few people ask me recently when I am due (when I've been out without the baby). I look like I'm 4-5 months pregnant still. My OB said my uterus is back to its normal size, so at this point it's all tummy.
I'm starting Weight Watchers - it's something that I've never done before. Does anyone have good experiences? I like that they take nursing (even partial nursing!) into consideration and that they put a lot of points in sugary foods to keep you away from them (sugar is my weakness).

I'm also doing weight watchers. I lost 40 lbs after delivery and am stale mated there. I'm also pretty sure that if I don't get my shit together, when I stop nursing I'll gain it all back plus some. I've had success with weight watchers in the past. That's when I would ride my bike to work and home 3 miles each way. I really am convinced though that if I can get my eating under control I'll be way better off. I've had issues with overeating for years.

crimpgirl , your workouts are keeping me motivated. I love reading about you hitting the rock wall and stuff. We have a small gym in my office and I always get here early so I think I'm going to start my running routine here at work before logging in. There's a full shower here as well and I have used it in the past without any issues so I'm thinking about getting that going now. I was waiting for the weather to get better, but that's ridiculous. I'm going to start the Women's running Couch to marathon thing this week. NO excuses. I love how I feel when I get some exercise and my whole family will benefit. then we'll use the stroller when the weather is nice.

I'm really struggling. I thought doing the dietbet would help but I still can't motivate myself. A friend of mine has had huge success doing a Keto diet so I might try that.
I need to start working out. I keep hoping the rain will stop so we can go for walks. I guess I'll need to find some indoor workouts one of these days.

We have had so much rain, too! I thought the whole point of living in California was not having to be cooped up inside for the winter
Weight Watchers has a thing right now where if you sign up and lose 10 lbs in 3 months they will give you a $100 gift card (like a Visa gift card or something) or a $100 credit towards weight watchers membership.
I have looked up diastasis recti and I'm pretty sure I have it, but all the videos online on how to determine whether you have it or how bad it is are really confusing to me. I definitely still look really pregnant, though, and I definitely had separation of ab muscles during pregnancy, so it's probably still there. I've only just gotten cleared to work out so I'm starting to do some gentle yoga and stuff. Maybe I'll look up some diastasis recti exercises?

emilie, I've had success with weight watchers in the past and it definitely works! Like any program, you just have to stay committed.
This time I am just tracking my calories on Myfitnesspal. It's working.....but very slowly. I was also pretty heavy when I got pregnant so I am now trying to lose weight I gained after my miscarriage last year.
And like I mentioned in the Randoms, I am close to my pre-preg weight, but my body shape is totally different. I still have lots of belly flab and that weird Csection flap. My old work slacks definitely do not fit. I am debating buying new ones, or just wearing my more stretchy clothes for a few months.
I guess we all need to remember that we didn't gain the weight overnight so it won't come off immediately. (I really hate when people say this to me, but I guess it's true. ☺️)

I'm in almost the exact same position as you are. I gained almost 40 lbs and lost about 20 with no effort in the first two weeks and nothing since. Im 10 weeks PP. It's really frustrating. I'm breastfeeding and working out and eating the same as before but still nothing. I'm on vacation and my nephew who is 8 just told me I look like I'm about to have another baby. I almost cried but didn't want everyone to see how much it bothered me. No one said he was wrong, so I feel like I must look more pregnant than I thought.
Anyway, I feel your pain. I'm going to get more serious about eating better and going running and hope for the best.

requiressnacks the C section flap is the worst!! Some days mine looks flatter but then some days it swells up a bit and there is like this weird ridge thing going on. Also, I am still totally wearing my maternity jeans. I don't think I can stomach going out and trying on real pants yet.
I'm really struggling. I thought doing the dietbet would help but I still can't motivate myself. A friend of mine has had huge success doing a Keto diet so I might try that.
my husband is doing the keto thing and I swear he just drops it with no issue. I tried to do that with him a while back and went in for a check up and my dr told me I had to quit. My heart couldn't take it. So I'm doing weight watchers.

I have to say that I just don't get the keto diet. It just seems like a repackaged Atkins. As someone who has many relatives who have had heart attacks I just can't see pursuing a diet that is so animal-protein heavy.
Studies have proven time and again that a moderate, Mediterranean type diet including lots of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and good fats is pretty much good for everyone. I have a hard time understanding why these high-fat, heavy protein fad diets continue to be popular.

I'm with you on that! My husband doesn't seem to care. I keep telling him I'd like him to live past 50, but what do you do? It's his life.
I also side eye when people start cutting fruit because of the sugar. It gas tons of fibre if it's fresh! Same thing for when people say avocados are high in fat.
Right? I just want to shake people sometimes, but then again, hovering right around 200lbs, I'm not in a place to be shaking people over dietary ideas :-P
Add me to the "I lost about 35lbs in the weeks post-birth, but I've stalled out." group. I'm about 10lbs away from my beginning weight with this pregnancy, and that's about 10-15lbs up from my pre-ivf weight.
stupid hormones. I'm NOT really eating poorly, either. I might just be eating too much. I don't know. I'm trying to be breezy about it and not fall into my formerly self-hating ways regarding my body (because it did what I've finally wanted it to do all along!) but it's a challenge!
also: still wearing maternity clothes! I don't think I look pregnant anymore, I just look flabby...and as stated above, I'm heavier than I was before I stopped wearing regular jeans. I don't want to even go down that road yet, lol.

crimpgirl clearly you haven't seen how much nut butter and avocado I can eat. Before getting pregnant I was on a diet that limited fruit and healthy fats and it really made me realize how much I was eating in a sitting! I was also cutting carbs and adding a ton more vegetables so hard to say what the main driver of my weight loss was but it did help I think.
Today I am starting to receive a smoothie and soup delivery service. It is frozen soups and smoothies and I'm only getting six a week so not living off the stuff but felt like it would give me a healthy alternative for breakfast or lunch when I need something quick. It's called Daily Harvest if anyone is interested. Not cheap but I figure it is just a short-term thing until I go back to the office. I'll let you guys know what I think!
I'm now 13 lbs away from my goal "back to work" weight. 6.5 weeks to go!
Also re abs I am just finding it really difficult to engage mine when I exercise so I'm doing everything in that area modified (planks on knees, fewer crunches but being more mindful, etc.) I still have lots of extra around the middle too.

Also I'd like to think that all of us are probably a bit more sedentary than we were before. I used to walk/move/exercise 8,000-13,000 steps a day (sometimes 16-20,000) and now if I hit 8,000 it is because I went for a run and ran an errand and I consider that super successful. I think once I'm back to work and commuting again there will be another weight loss. And add me to the list of people who just can't lose those last five pounds while breastfeeding. I think my boobs weigh at least an extra 2.5 lbs each!

legalbeagle I agree about being more sedentary during maternity leave. My butt was on the couch for 2 straight months. I got so sick of that spot I avoid it nowadays. It's my first day back at work and I hope it does help shed a couple more lbs.

I walked for 30 minutes on the treadmill at work this morning. I realized I was getting excited over signing up for a race when that means nothing unless I actually start moving, so I started moving. It's really nice to walk alone. Jane is at daycare, Daniel is at work, it freaking snowed and is still snowing and I got a walk in a warm room listening to my book club book. It's a good morning

I workout 4-5 days a week at home using daily burn. Its workout videos..They have a set workout regimen for you. Workouts are 15-35 mins. You get to choose. You could do a different one everyday. I am 8 lbs from pp weight. I also have started eating much better watching carbs and greasy or sugar things not really calories.i bf full time so I have to consume things that encourage it. I try with yogurt, granola, peanut butter, cheese. My research shows that 1lb a week bf is more than adequate. crimpgirl at least it's coming off!
Also it might be better to go off of body measurements not weight..Due to water retention and milk.
I don't weigh myself because I try not to focus on the number, but I still have some flab around my belly that I'd like to lose. I'd like to say I've been eating healthy and working out, but I haven't. I feel like I have no time with 3 kids and school. I go back to work on the 13th, and I'll have even less time, but at least I tend to eat healthier when I'm at work since I can't just munch on snacks all day. I also usually make smoothies for breakfast when I'm working since I can drink them in the car, but for some reason I don't make them when I'm home. As for motivation to start working out...I used to do the fitness pole dancing, and I have my own pole. It needed a replacement part, so I ordered it. I really enjoyed it when I was doing it before, so hopefully I'll be able to make the time to get back into it.

I was all excited that 4 weeks after delivery I was actually 2 lbs lighter than I was when I got pregnant...but I spent my maternity leave eating whatever I wanted and now I've put on 8lbs. Before I found out I was pregnant, I was working on loosing about 50 lbs...I'm now about 35 lbs from that goal, so I still have a lot of work to do. I am one of those weirdos who never could get WW to work for me (I would do it for a year and only loose about 15 lbs). The only thing I've found that works for me is eating low carb, high fat. I found out about 3 months before getting pregnant that I have Type II diabetes, so I should be eating low carb anyway. I am trying to get back down under 50 carbs per day (ideally under 30 per day) but man, it's hard! I have a love for bread that is easily my undoing- there are lots of great low carb versions of a lot of foods (cauliflower rice for example) but I have not found one for bread that I like.
I'm 8ish pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight, but that was up about 15 pounds from my preferred weight. But I'm going to start with the 8 pound goal first. I've been walking but that's about it. I need to get an exercise routine and start rebuilding my core.
I'm still not sure how to fit exercise into my schedule. I used to take barre class after work or during lunch, but that would have me missing pumping or feeding sessions. I'll try to fit in two weekend classes and maybe do online workouts during the week.

crimpgirl have you found good nursing bras in your size? I'm a similar size and debating about investing in a good one. I can't find any cheap ones that are close to my size.
lola this is my problem too. I used to try to get four workouts in during the weekdays so I didn't do anything on the weekend but I feel like I'll be lucky to get one run and one workout in during the week when I'm back at work. It will take a mental adjustment to workout twice on the weekend!I think I just need to set my expectations low and accept that I can't workout as much as before.
