Oh and Lucies list is fantastic! Everything is compared by price, so you can still get the "best" for your budget. I almost always consult lucies list before buying anything www.lucieslist.com
Married to dh since 2012. Ttc journey: Miscarriage at 8 weeks February 2013 DD born march 2014 Miscarriage at 6 weeks September 2015 Miscarriage at 16 weeks, our angel Sebastian 1/23/16 Pregnancy number 5!! Edd 9/2/17 (my moms brithday!)
I'm also team #wearallthebabies. My favorite carrier from birth is the Beco Gemini. I also didn't have any luck with the Tula.
I have a ring sling and two wraps this time. I also have a Beco Gemini, a Beco Soleil and a Toddler Lenny Lamb. I +1000 trying carriers on before you buy.
As for me, I have no idea what I need this time. Maybe a crib or maybe a toddler bed or maybe something totally different - I'm at a loss for how to proceed so I'm ignoring it.
I'll probably update as this pregnancy progresses and figure out I need more things. I'd like to decorate a nursery but that may be too ambitious. And would require me to decorate a big kid room and I'm just not there yet.
With DS we used our RNP for 8 weeks and then he moved into his crib. I think he had a difficult time sleeping in his crib first because it was hard to transition from sleeping at a slight incline to flat on his back (or maybe this wasn't the issue at all but in my mind it makes sense). I'm thinking of getting a bassinet or something similar for next to the bed this time. Any recommendations? Or should I just stick with the RNP because the crib transition is always difficult for the first week or so?
Since babies can be so different, I'd start with what you have and see if it works. I think crib transitions can be tough no matter where they start off sleeping......unless they start in the crib I suppose.
@saiven , I have the Beco Gemini and love it! The only issue I have had is wearing it on my back. DS is nearly 2 now and I think he would enjoy being on my back more. But the straps always feel awkward, like they are about to come off my shoulders. I probably need to watch some Youtube tutorials
I have a moby wrap which I liked the idea of, but found I could never get it to stay tight. After an hour or so it felt like he was going to fall out.
ETA the other thing I love about the Gemini is that it fits both my tall broad-shouldered husband and me, no problem.

Depending on the size of your home and your personal preference, you could also start from the crib. That was totally not my plan with DS - I had the PNP set up for him in our room. But when we got home from the hospital we didn't know what to do with the little creature and just plopped him in the crib. Our bedrooms are adjacent, we kept both doors open, and I would hear him start to wake before he even cried. The PNP has gotten a lot of use on trips and as a restraining area now that he's a toddler (hey, sometimes mama needs to poop on her own).

salmon2017, I never had that issue with the Gemini but I've had it with other carrier. A couple things - you have to make sure the straps are tight enough. What might feel super tight may still be leaving slack that makes them feel too loose. Also, use that chest strap to help you feel more secure.
I will say, the Gemini stopped being comfortable to me when my LO was 25 pounds or so. That's when we upgraded to a more traditional standard carrier and now we're in the Toddler carrier.
You may also want to look at a woven wrap - you have more control over fit with a woven and you can do the same wraps as you would in a Moby. I had a Baby K'Tan and also found that it started to sag.
This is what we did too. ETA: DD was a noisy sleeper (I wasn't getting annnny sleep with her in the room), so we moved her to her crib in her own room around 6 weeks or so.
Oh and saltandvinegar , we didn't have room next to our bed either at the time... we just put the P&P at the foot of the bed.
Lol. I could have written this exactly. We moved DS at 4 weeks because of all the noises he made during his sleep. We also had the PNP at the foot of our bed.
Ha, we made it one night with L in the RnP, then to the crib on night 2. Granted, our rooms are right next door, so it made sense. Plus DH is a really light sleeper, so he was all for the move.
I'm on my 4th kid and I have a registry going. A new diaper bag is on my list. I can't do a backpack style bag though. It just isn't my style. I have a huge list of them on my registry that I need to narrow down.
I will also register for some things I don't need but want because I'm changing the colors of the nursery. So a new cover for the changing pad will eventually be on my list.
As far as wraps/carriers go, I have a ton. I have a woven, moby, k'tan, ring sling, ergo, Nuroo, and a mesh wrap for the pool. I use them all at different stages. I need to relearn how to tie my woven into a ring sling type of wrap since my belly is getting too big to carry DS2 on the front.
I have read many posts from mom's who had a difficult time transitioning their babies to the crib from the RNP. They are great at getting your newborn to sleep because they feel swaddled and cradled but it is a struggle to transition. I wouldn't buy one for that reason alone. With that said, there are many who never have problems with the transition. I think it all depends on your baby and how long you wait to do the transition. I use a flat cradle that sits right next to the bed. It isn't bulky and it rocks so I can rock he baby without getting up if I need to. It is the same cradle I used with DS1 almost 15 years ago (yes my baby will be 15 in June) so I like using that simply because all of my kids have used it.

We used Dr. Browns and I had no complaints. I didn't mind washing them but I also didn't have any others to compare them to. I'm just planning to use them again & get new nipples.

anniebn we used medela bottles and nipples and I have so many that I haven't considered buying any more. Is there a reason to buy new nipples? I don't think DS chewed on any of the ones I have, so they I figured they would be fine. But maybe the material degrades or something? Or stuff grows in them?

I'm glad you asked this. We just used the #1s the entire time with DS and they seemed fine when I put them away. I haven't pulled them out yet but I just thought it was something I was "supposed" to do.

Just googled Apparently the silicon can degrade over time and also the holes open up with extended use. So what was low flow when your baby started might have been medium flow by the end. So the new baby will probably need new low flow nipples.

We tossed the Dr browns. We had no dishwasher at the time....eff that. We switched to the short fat avent ones. He seemed to like those so we will likely try those first this time
TTC since '08 ME: PCOS, late DH: CBAVD due to CF IVF #1-6 all fresh cycles, all BFN Lost DH in 2015 due to CF Met SO and started TTC again SO: quality issues, started Clomid BFP 1/13/17, natural cycle (!) Due 9/19/17
I loved our RNP for DD. Our first slept in a bassinet beside our bed but it was higher and after a csection it was uncomfortable to get up and peek at him as often as I was peeking. With the RNP I could look at her without moving and scoop her into bed with me. Bonus points because it was easier to move from room to room if she was napping and I wanted to keep an eye on her. I'm buying another RNP and now they have an auto rock feature 😍
I loved our Moby for the newborn stage, and our Tula for everything else. I'm borrowing a K'tan and have already purchased another Tula, since I sold both of ours.
As far as diaper bags go, I just use my giant purse. I would always forget my purse or the diaper bag and I wanted to simplify. I have 6 inside pockets and one large compartment so it's already like a bag of holding.
I'm also going to buy swaddling blankets. But only two! My first baby loved to be swaddled and my second hated it. I figure it's a crap shoot.
A sit-me-up was also really awesome and my daughter loved it. I plan on buying this second hand because we didn't use it very long/very often. Like maybe 3 months.
I also one of the cute daisy baby baths (at target for like $35?)
We will also need to buy two new car seats, since we're fitting three across in the back of a Ford Fusion 😳

I'm glad you guys mentioned the nipple thing...I had forgotten unneeded to replace all the old ones! Dd luckily wasn't too picky about bottles for being a breastfed baby...we'll see how this one is.
Anyone planning to breastfeed, I suggest buying reusable breast pads, which you can typically get for "free" from one of those coupons at motherhood or online, just pay shipping. Also for those first few days, I NEEDED the hydrogel pads.
Also for postpartum, make sure you have lots of pads and panty liners, one of those things you may as well stock up on now instead of later.
Another thing I read when and thought was a good idea when I was KU with dd, stock up on everyday items (paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo, dish soap...) so it's one less thing to worry about.
One last thing to add. I made sure I had new pajamas waiting for me for after I had dd. By the time I had her I was so sick of my maternity wardrobe and to have just a few new pieces of clothing that were comfy and nursing friendly was so nice!
Edd 9/2/17 (my moms brithday!)
laurenash323 you are on top of it girl! Those are all awesome suggestions of things to get ahead of time. I'll add my 2¢ warning to not get too many extra pads/liners that are for super heavy flow because the hospital might send you home with 2 full bags of pads and you might not have super heavy bleeding for long where you might need the super soaker style like I had happen. For me, I also started going a little stir crazy even though I was tired and feeling gross post baby but I wanted/needed to get out of the house! We did a quick family trip to target so I could get out of the house for a little bit and get supplies and it was refreshing to get out, even though it was only for an hour. I'm also the same person who went and watched my husband get an award at work with a 3 day old baby so maybe take my advice with a grain of salt 😆
+1 exactly. We went to get icecream when he was 3 days old and a quick trip to Kohls at 4 days. It may be harder with a toddler this time too but I needed to get out of the house & get some fresh air.
We also have a general store about 3 minutes from the house so it was pretty easy to leave the baby with DH & get out of the house for 10 minutes or so and run to the store to grab whatever it was that I needed (last time I needed tucks pads and miralax. I will have those on hand this time around)

Bumping because I got a new diaper bag in the mail today! It was only $35 and had free returns so I thought I'd get it and see what I thought with no real risk. The other bags I have been looking at were double the price, thought may be worth it quality wise? Only time will tell I guess but I'm happy with it so far. Lots of space but not too bulky for my small frame. DS1 doesn't need much when we go out besides diapers and snacks so it should be good for when both boys are here!

I don't like backpack style bags but that one is cute. Just not my style. Even with multiple small kids I prefer one I can carry on my shoulder. I have one I thought I loved but it isn't very sturdy. I need one of those purse organizers to go inside to keep it upright when there isn't a lot in it.
I'm debating getting a new bouncer. I inherited all my sister's baby stuff, and now it's made it's way through 4 kids.
But I'm not sure if I want to spend the money on something new for one child.
Maybe I should just opt for a rock n play?
I'm a big fan of the rock n play. Also, the bjorn bouncer is pricy, but amazing. They can use the Bjorn longer, but the rnp is great for naps and sleeping.
I have never tried a RNP because I have heard horror stories of the crib transition that comes after it. My kids tend to not be the best sleepers so anything that adds more transitions I stay far away from.
