Mamas with older kids, what time are they going to bed? Bedtime is becoming a chore with J. He's 3.5, and I'm wondering if I need to push it back by a half hour, even though that means less time for me or me and H. Right now he goes to bed sometime between 7:30 and 8:00.

G goes to bed between 6:30 and 7. Clearly that's not a practical bedtime for most people, but it works well for us. We've tried later and it never works well. This is the same bedtime she has had her whole life. She no longer naps during the day though, not sure if j does. She is an S13 kid too.

J naps some days, but he's clearly about done with that. He's also gone to bed between 7:30 and 8:00 his whole life. But lately as soon as I say it's bedtime, he starts acting out, not listening, etc. He has also for the past week been coming out of his room after I put him down, which is new. Maybe it's a phase?
joi922, we used to push for 7:30 with A - who's 3.5 as well. But it's mostly just after 8. She falls asleep on my lap on the couch. So we turn her shows off at 8 and she rolls over and goes to sleep. Most nights.
today is pre op appointment then caden's 18 month wellness check. i am taking half a day. A is feeling better but didn't get dropped off by me, H will be dropping her off as she couldn't get moving. And how do you make your still probably sick toddler get moving when you just feel guilty that you can't stay home and cuddle them back to health? Not to mention I really can't be by her because I can't get sick due to next week's surgery.
joi922 We are bad parents. C NEVER took to an early bed time, no matter how hard we tried. We *usually* go back to his room at 830 for books and depending on whose night it is depends on the routine a little more. For example, I tell him he can have his tablet until I get ready and then its two books and lights out. My way he is usually asleep between 915 and 930. H tends to let him play on his tablet longer and bedtime is usually 930-ish. We are both working on trying to get it a little earlier because he seems to be ready lately.
Today is C's 5 year appointment. I need to remember to ask for two forms... one for Daycare and one for the school for Kindergarten registration. AH!!! I'm working 6.75 hours today and get a 15 minute lunch. I am trying to decide if I want to run (DRIVE) to the borough office to drop off a payment that is due tomorrow and try to grab lunch out as well, or just stay home and do the payment/lunch tomorrow when I have more time.
ampaintspackmomma - can I get in on this text message support system? Sometimes that's all I really want to say is "Fucking Teeth." and just know that someone gets it.
In the meantime... My 18m old is up for sale, any takers? I'd like her to go to a good home.
I'm probably thinking way too much into this, but DS has woken up with a bone dry diaper twice this week. His diaper is usually full when he wakes up. He drinks plenty and has enough wet diapers throughout the day. I don't remember this happening with DD so I'm scratching my head over here on this one.

Between 8 and 8:30. He's typically up at about 6:30.

I went through this last week with DS1 when he got strep. I think he probably should have been home 1 more day but I needed to work and he had been on abx for 24 hours. He was moving a little slow but was at least eating and playing. I felt so guilty. Hugs. There really isn't any good answer in this situation.
I spiraled on social pressures to work no matter what, poor family leave stuff, and social constructs in general. I was feeling philosophical that day.

I've run into this with both boys randomly. The first morning diaper is usually pretty heavy when this happens. As long as you are still getting good diapers throughout the day and he's getting enough liquids, I would call it a fluke.

This is what I'm thinking. I have a ped visit Saturday to re-check ears, so I'm going to also just run it by them then. I'm most likely over thinking it. I'm just so used to crazy wet diapers when he first wakes up.
@betweenthelines, that has happened to us recently and he has woken up dry from naps at DC. I'm counting it as a good sign towards potty training! He also has a massive pee diaper soon after waking up, so there is that.
skinandbones, almost all baby stuff is gone at our house too. now that space is fulled with more toys that have tiny parts that hurt my feet when i step on them.
@betweenthelines, 90% of the time C wakes up with a 5 pound diaper of pee and poop. Sometimes it's dry. Give it 10 minutes and it's filled like normal. lol - i just think it depends on when he gets up and yes, the 5-10 mins makes a difference. I do not want to potty train yet so my mind has not gone there.
Yeah, I'm blocking out the thoughts of potty training ATM lol. But it also was just brought to my attention, which I totally forgot about, that I used to give him his milk cup with dinner at 6pm. I just bumped it back to 5pm, so he could be adjusting to that and peeing all the pee before he goes to bed. Duh.
In baby related news, we have finally got rid of all our baby stuff. The only thing in the attic are my maternity clothes.
We are done. I'm glad we are done but I've still got a lot of mixed feels about it.
+1 on all this. I still have maternity clothes I need to clear out, but we've been giving all our baby stuff to H's brother for our niece and any future babies they have.
I'm done, but I know H wants more, which is really contributing to the mixed feelings. It's not that I would hate to have more babies - I frequently stop and think "wow, we'll never be in this stage again" - but we need to stop for my own sanity and the sake of our marriage given our crazy schedules. The first years of both kids were the hardest we've gone through in 17 years together.
Most of m baby stuff is gone and I should get rid of all of my maternity clothes I still have. A coworker has a lot of them and I'll probably let her keep them because they want a second. I was 25 lbs heavier than I am now when I got pregnant so they wouldn't fit me anyways *if* we had another. Getting rid of baby stuff was bittersweet for sure.
