requiressnacks I think you should keep your work from home day even in a short week so people start getting used to you being out that day. I was militant about staying at home when I first started and then sometimes would go into the office but only bc it was more convenient for me.
Other things from yesterday that I didn't get a chance to respond to: I am a horrible person so my new must-listen podcast is called "My Favorite Murder." S is definitely going to be a thumb sucker -- DS never was but he loved his paci. @kc295905 I didn't know you were an SLP! That's so cool. I kinda think it is cute also even though I know it will be a pain later to get her to stop and also two days ago she gagged herself and threw up. Sigh. emilie I have the Tula with the infant insert and S and I both like it. I had the ergo with DS and couldn't tell you exactly why but I do like the Tula better. littlelion yay for tax return and glad you are spending it on having peace of mind on daycare. Not that sexy but worth it! catherineoctober sorry to read about the job stuff but am glad you have a long time to look!
I went out last night and S was a total fussy baby when I got home and I almost totally lost it thinking we'd have another terrible night of sleep. Well she slept from a little after 11 to almost 6!! I wish this was our schedule every night but I'll take one amazing night of sleep for me. I guess probably not as restful for her since she is usually down by 8-9 and then sleeps on and off until 7:30.
Also I may have spent some of our tax refund on a babyzen yoyo+. Watch the video! I can't wait for it to arrive! We're going to take it on our vacation so I don't have to wear S the whole time.

So....good news...my babies had a record night last night! They slept from 7:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. I, of course, was up from 4-6 waiting for them to get up. YAWWWWWWWN.
Also, this was my first solo DC drop off this morning. It went pretty smoothly, but it's just a PITA getting 2 babies dressed and out the door.
One weird thing is that a lot of the moms were lingering at DC drop off. I don't really understand why. I put mine in bouncers, made sure they were happy, said goodbye and left. Who has time to sit and play??

yay S! That stroller looks cool. Where is vacation? Do tell.
requiressnacks, the daycare providers really appreciate that you do that too! Parents who lingered forever always upset the kids when they eventually left. Then they'd drag things out longer and make the kids even more upset when they HAD to go. Everyone always calmed down fairly quickly once they were gone, but it was hard to make parents understand that.
We have another baby playgroup this morning. I went to one last week -- they still feel slightly ridiculous, but at least I get to talk to other adults. I feel like I'm the only STM with older kids though. Everyone is either a FTM or a STM with an infant and a toddler to young preschooler. People are discussing preschools and I'm all "My 4th grader is doing a project on Sweden..." I feel old, lol.
My good friend and I made plans to do a short family trip to St Louis in April. Originally we were going down Thursday for a concert and staying until Saturday. Well we can't do that now because it's Mady's First Communion weekend and she has rehearsal Saturday morning. My friend refused to speak to me yesterday and is still pissed today after I told her. I just want to scream at her "IT'S NOT MY FREAKING FAULT!!!!" 😡
Lucy, I fee like that about this group. Most of the STMs here have young kids and are dealing with that crazy, which is what I did when #2 was born. Now I have a 2nd grader and Kindergartener so I'm just starting all over again.

mrsp121308 that's super annoying of your friend. One would think she would be more understanding.
requiressnacks we're going to Arizona for a week! We skipped warm weather vacations last year bc of Zika and I really just needed to get away even if it means two kids and two adults in one hotel room. I'm still afraid of S getting Zika (it just doesn't sound pleasant even if there aren't any long-term effects) so AZ it is. I plan on doing nothing but sitting by the pool and napping.

Lucy, that makes me feel better! I wasn't sure if I missed the memo that I was supposed to hang around. I figured I should leave when they were happy. No need to belabor the goodbye.
littlelion, I'm sure it's a fluke but hey - I'll take it!
mrsp121308, sorry about your trip, and that your friend is being unreasonable. Geesh!
Alex is napping probably going to be his long nap of the day. And I cannot get myself going with work. I'm drinking my coffee and staring at my computer. We have IM and it shows when you're on (green light) vs you stopped (yellow). So I can't just not be on my computer and do other stuff in the house. Boo. Where's the trust ppl.

littlelion, we have IM too. (MS Lync) You can change how long it takes for your account to go yellow under the advanced settings on ours. I MIGHT have it set at an hour.... LOL
I'm about to try to put N down for his first nap in his Merlin suit, which arrived yesterday. I'm glad I ordered the 6-9 month size because it's definitely the right length. He's getting so big - I'm guessing we'll be in 6-9 month clothes within the next week or two, and I think we're breaking out the size 3 diapers later today!

AGH! Did not know this. I changed it to an hour too, thanks!
I have 2 of those big boxes of size 2 diapers. one is pampers and the other is costco. I've been using the size 2 diapers from a smaller package and DH is all "these don't fit the baby!". And I'm like the sticky thing reaches and they stay on right? I'm in denial. I don't know how much alex weighs but it looks like he's on to size 3. And then I texted my cousin who had her baby about 1.5 wks after me, and he is still not in size 2. Guys, Alex was tiny compared to her baby as newborns. I'm giving her the diapers on Sunday when I see her at a family party.

We have friends at church who had a baby 3 weeks after N was born, but he was a few weeks early, so he is still super tiny compared to N. We keep giving them leftover diapers as N outgrows them so quickly.
I have to by work today, apparently the flash drive all the powepoints I left on just erased itself(eye roll). Oh well, people have been begging us to stop by so we'll see everyone. Luckily we only get a 30 lunch so I'll have an escape route.

requiressnacks, littlelion, I just tried to set my lync to more time and I don't have access to advanced settings. Boo - but really I'm never called on anything for not being around. Seriously nothing to worry about unless I don't respond one day at all and that never happens. I really dread leaving this job as I'm so free to do whatever.
Good news is we heard from other people in small offices what the severance package is and after they give you more than 30 days notice of when your last day is going to be they give her a week of pay for every month you worked for the company. I thought that was amazing and I have nothing to worry about. I did, however, apply for 5 different jobs in the area. And I bought three bottles of wine - I've been without wine in the house since December. Just couldn't get out and get it. In Utah you have to go to the state liquor store to buy wine. I miss AZ and Bevmo and all the cool liquor stores, and simply buying wine at the grocery store.

I'm wfh tomorrow but need to go to the office to pick up my check. I'm trying to figure out what cute outfit Alex should wear.

No luck with the Merlin sleep suit nap in the crib - he woke up after about 2 minutes of flailing his arms around in his sleep. I tried to get him soothed back down, but it didn't work. Now we're entering the dangerous realm of over-tiredness, so I'm trying to see if he'll sleep in the swing, because the poor guy needs this nap (the swing is a magical baby sleep machine at our house). Maybe because I ordered the bigger size of the sleep suit, it's not constricting enough, but his feet do come out of the leg holes at the bottom, and he's already showing an inch of wrist in the arms, so it looks like it fits okay . . . we'll keep trying!

Jane slept really great last night and she loves her daycare lady. This morning was the only time I lingered, I normally just drop her off and head out, glad that's what is best. But she had a blowout in the truck so I changed her before I left. They seemed happy I didn't just hand her over. :-) She saves all her blowouts for me. She's never had one at daycare. LOL
littlelion, That stroller is awesome! We have one that folds down pretty good, but not THAT good! I don't know what we'll do in June when we fly to Houston for a family trip, but there will be lots of other people wanting to carry her around so I think we'll just bring the carseat. Or I can just rent a vehicle with one, I think that's cool. I wish we didn't have to spend the money though. But my in-laws can't seem to understand how they can get us their vehicle to use that week. Ugh! Sometimes I just don't get those people. When I go home I have multiple people lending us vehicles. Oh well. Families are different
