I'm on my own all day for the first time. My husband had to leave stupid early and he won't be back until 7 or so. Baby was wide awake and smiling in my face at 6:30 a.m. She's too cute to be angry at. Of course when I tried to put her in the swing she only napped for 30 minutes. But now she's snuggling up with me and has been asleep for 1.5 hours. 🙄
In small victories, I managed to clip her nails on one hand while she was sleeping!
catherineoctober I am also stressing about travel! we are doing a multi city east coast trip in May and I'm already overwhelmed thinking about transporting the stroller, car seat, travel crib, etc. I know that the car seats rental cars have are often dirty or out of date (and expensive to rent too!) H and I are frequent travelers and we both usually travel very light, so traveling with a baby will be a bit of a change, haha.
We're taking a plane trip to Denver in a few weeks, and I'm quite nervous. To practice, I'm joining my husband on a quick driving trip with the baby next week to see how things go in a hotel. He'll be working during the day, so baby and I will be on our own in San Antonio. Hopefully the weather is nice, or else we'll be hiding out in the hotel room. Same for Denver. I hate cold weather.

I'm glad you said that because I don't really want to use a random car seat.
A and I are traveling in a few weeks too. Luckily my mom is coming with us. She used to travel with me(6) and my infant twin sisters back in the day. I don't know how she did it without going nuts.
emiliecatherineoctober Same on the car seat. We went back and forth, but ultimately decided to bring our own. I was too worried about a rental car one being damaged of outdated. Bringing our own means I know it's clean and safe. It will be a lot of gear, but we'll cut back on stuff like diapers and just purchase when we arrive. Also, last time I packed way too many clothes for her, so I'll cut back on that too.

Uhhh, she's a badass. I can barely get out the door with one.
Adding to the topic of travel gear - someone in the mom's group I've been going to just got the Doona car seat / stroller because she and her husband travel a lot. It's super cool!

I just had to write out my evening routine because I finished all my laundry last night and packed everything and completely forgot about dinner. I had no idea what I had planned (it's on the chalkboard in the kitchen, cause that's helpful) and didn't know if I was supposed to thaw anything out or what. Ugh! It takes me hours to get ready, but it's just because I can't seem to think straight. I get Jane's stuff and sometimes she just goes to daycare in her sleepers cause then I don't have to find matching socks that we'll just lose anyway.
DH said "so you're not taking Jane to daycare today?" when I had her in sleepers. I'm like "Heck yes I am, and if you want her to wear something else you take her to daycare". LOL
I also pack my gym bag because I've been running before work. I've been bringing my lunch and pump so I'm the freaking bag lady with all these bags, not to mention my work laptop and stuff. Ugh!
I added to my list to look at what I need for the next night's dinner when I'm making dinner or prepping.
Luckily tonight it's Huevos Rancheros and no thawing or crockpot needed. Phew!
But I totally thought Jane turned 3 months tomorrow and it's today. Sooo bath and pictures tonight!

Regarding my last post - I feel like I'm running to catch up and I'm always behind. This gets better right? then something changes with Jane and it all starts again, I'm sure.
I just introduced formula, because getting enough milk every day is just stressing me out, which makes it hard to get milk. I can't win.
Work is also getting more demanding - which just means I actually have things to do. I really shouldn't complain. I just need to focus (doesn't come easy) and work.
Bummer sheepish. We have both sizes of the merlin and N does ok in either but he can't suck his fingers in the small one. Did you swaddle before?
I usually swaddle him at night in a halo sleep sack swaddle, and he naps most reliably in the swing, unswaddled. I probably should have given it longer today (and maybe just stood and held his hands down for a few minutes so he wouldn't flail and wake himself before he settled into deeper sleep), but his sleep has been so off at night with this growth spurt that I really wanted to make sure he got a good nap (he went from doing a 6-7 hour stretch followed by a 2-3 hour stretch to doing a 4ish hour stretch followed by waking every 2 hours to eat for the rest of the night). I left him in the Merlin suit when I gave up on the crib, and he's been napping in his swing for three hours! I think he's just starting to stir. We'll try it again tomorrow.
Just for fun, here's the cutie this morning in his swaddle and just a little while ago, napping in the swing.

It can be overwhelming. Take a deep breathe, soon you'll be a pro on what matters...everything else can wait. I'm right there with you on being the bag lady. It also doesn't help when I'm trying to hold a cup of coffee too.
I was also afraid of not pumping enough milk. Mostly because I can't get away 3x's/day to pump. I've started pumping on the weekends in the morning during his 3 hr nap. I have some freezer stash now that'll help cover DC on those days I don't pump enough. DH has already started talking about introducing formula.
sheepish N is so tall!! R us getting so close to needing 3-6months for his height.
He is tall! He is 12 weeks old today and is close to growing out of 3-6 month clothes in length. Still mostly doing okay with separates, like a onesie and pants instead of a sleeper, and certain sleeper brands are longer than others, so they still fit okay.

catherineoctober, there is so much to keep track of these days!!! I literally got int he car this morning (2 babies, 6 bottles, one coffee, english muffin, work bag, laptop) and had to sit for a minute to make sure that I had everything.
I feel like such a newb at daycare because they sent the babies home wearing bibs on Tuesday, and of course I didn't even think to bring some bibs back. whatever, I'll wait till they tell me what I need. It's been a little unclear for stuff like bibs, clothes, bags.

I love you all! If be so lost and alone if I wasn't posting and reading here. I got caught up on the posts while pumping and then looked down and righty didn't have any milk in the bottle so I looked and the damn pump wasn't on the nipple. That is going to hurt later! So glad you all understand. I do like lists and I love the keep app. Google is my favorite. I'm convinced too that if I didn't run every other day at the gym at work I would be in much worse shape.
I know! I'm not very tall (5'5" ish) and DH isn't super tall (5'10"), but I do often have to buy shirts a size up because the the sleeves are too short. Maybe I have long arms too? My brother is 6'3", so maybe N will be tall like him.

requiressnacks yay! We're going to Sedona and scottsdale. I would ask you for recommendations of things to do but I imagine that what you did in Scottsdale in your 20s is different than what we will do. Like you may not know about the train park! Also I really plan on just ordering all food to pool or room. The idea of taking two kids out to dinner sounds impossible.
I'm very envious of these travel plans some of you have coming up. I've managed to take the twins to my parents in NH twice now (2.5 hour drive), and that was stressful enough! Luckily they are both good car sleepers.
We moved to a new house last week, it is still undergoing renovations so there is dust everywhere. I am not even halfway through unpacking. The twins are sleeping, so I should be getting some unpacking done or cleaning, or grading this huge stack of papers. Instead I'm watching TV.
requiressnacks, I agree, hanging out at daycare sounds weird. I feel awkward enough when I arrive and one of the twins is in the middle of a feeding. I'll take over until they are done, but no one really hangs around ours.
catherineoctober, MA used to be the same way for wine/beer. They are starting to let some grocery and convenience stores sell them, but for the most part you need to do go the state liquor store, so annoying!
Does anyone leave their pump at work? I'm considering doing that to cut down on bags, and just carry the milk and parts back and forth, with the manual pump at home just in case.

Yes I leave mine at work but I have a back up pump at home. You should be good with your manual, my manual just never worked well for me.
Perfect. Glad to hear it works for someone else. 😊

I will starting next week when I'm back in the office all 5 days. And bring it home on Fridays. I was telling one of the mgrs how I'm nervous that someone will spill my milk in the fridge and she suggested I bring my own fridge for under my desk. I know my SVP had one but not sure what hr will think about that.
lola another thing I do that saves on time is I put my pump parts in a freezer bag and keep them in the fridge in between pumps so I don't have to clean them after each pump.
I read about that! I'll do that too. Do you hand wash your parts or put them in the dishwasher?
