You guys....I booked my hotel for my twin mom retreat at the end of the month. I'm going for 1 night. I am excited, nervous to leave my babies....and CANNOT WAIT to have my husband parent for 24 hours.

How fun! How many moms are in your group? Is it like a spa retreat?
crimpgirl where did you find the tank tops? My boobs do the opposite when I nurse. DH is sad.
You wear LLR right? I just bought a perfect tee but idk how to layer it bc it's cooold. Any ideas?
I got some tanks from Bun on amazon. They are actual tanks with real straps, not spaghetti straps and don't have a shelf so I can wear a real bra under them.
Pedicure for me later today, that's really all I have planned for the weekend.
Question for the nursing/pumping moms... how long are you planning to nurse/pump? I know babies can't have any milk but breast or formula for the first year. No judgement, just curious.

I don't have a set timeframe. If I can make it six months that would be great. She loves nursing when she's home so I don't think that's going to be a problem. We supplement with formula because it doesn't fill her up.

That makes sense. I want to try to go six months without supplementing, depending on how pumping at work goes. After that, I'm considering combination feeding with formula at daycare and breastfeeding when I'm with her. I can't imagine pumping at work for a year. I'm already not a fan, and I'm only doing it once a day.

I'd like to get to 6 months now that we've gotten our issues under control. I don't really want to pump next school year- I don't get a lot of free time at work and would rather not shut myself away to pump, I really value my adult conversation time. So we'll probably start switching to formula over the summer when we intro solids. Plus, if she's on formula when she starts daycare then I won't have to worry about pumping enough.
We've had so many issues getting her to be breastfed and I'm on an ointment basically until I'm done breastfeeding to prevent another yeast infection so it just seems impractical to go a year doing that.

Omg it's like you guys know my lyfe!!! I spent some time yesterday looking at breastfeeding friendly/post partum body friendly clothes for our vacation. I ended up buying a caftan with buttons and I think I'm going to buy a tank or two at boob design and then I'll just need to buy shorts that don't look insanely awful when I am 17 lbs heavier than my prepreg weight. 🙄
As for breastfeeding my plan is to breastfeed or pump until I start my new my new job. I go back to my old job in April and then give notice so won't start new job until may. So I'll keep pumping at old job but decrease pumping sessions frequency and time each week. I could probably pump once a day at new job if I haven't fully dried up by then but can't fathom getting up to speed at new job, networking, etc and taking the time to pump three or four times every day. So that should take her to about five months. I'm sad because I'd like it to be longer but looking forward to the end of worrying about milk, feeding, engorgement, etc if all that makes sense.

There's probably 50+ moms in the group that are active. It's a little cliquey though....like the moms with kids of similar ages tend to hang together. It's a relaxation retreat....drinks, spa, etc.
requiressnacks and @kc295905, I'm jealous of your mom groups! I need to find some around me.
It is super cold here too, I'm so ready for spring! The twins new stroller arrived last night and I'm looking forward to putting it together so we can start going on walks.
I've already gone to Target and bought a big cart load of cleaning supplies. My kitchen is absolutely disgusting! I don't think the previous owners cleaned it often. The tile grout was black, but after two hours of scrubbing it is now off white. They cabinets are also white and filthy! I've cleaned the bottom layer. I will need to give everything a deep clean again, but at least the first layer of dirt is off.
I wanted a relaxing pedicure but instead sat across from a woman in a too short skirt and a bitching bridal party. Things I will need to instill in Abigail: always wear pants for a pedicure and don't fight with the bride(and it was a pretty color too!)

Gah, nail salon experiences are always such a toss up and depend almost entirely on the clientele when you happen to be there. So annoying.

This is kind of what I did with Leo. I do not like the pumping and handling all the milk bags/storage/transportation. We used formula for DC (which was free!) and whenever he was without me. I stopped nursing him at 11 mo because I took a med he couldn't have so it just became the stopping pt. This time I plan to stop pumping around the 6-9 mo mark...however far I get!
I finished fixing Alex's 6mo clothes neatly in his drawer. I went to hang a couple of dress shirts in his closet. And found another bag full of 6 mo clothes. Sigh. Too tired to continue after spending time in the basement weeding thru all the stored clothes earlier today. Baby has more outfits than I do!
We're supposed to stop by my dads tonight. He leaves for Mexico tomorrow. But Leo was feverish during nap time and I thought we'd better stay in. But now he's jumping around the living room soooo, ugh, I'm pooped. I'd like a quiet evening at home but my dad's going for a month so I should go say bye.
Question about bottles - do you all warm up your refrigerated BM/formula? Sometimes I do but my LO does not seem to mind if it is cold or warm, so sometimes if I need a bottle right away I just give it to her cold.
As for me with feeding, I have been combo feeding since week 2 due to low milk supply (which is slowly improving), but we still nurse 6 or so times a day, and she gets more than half of her food from the boob. I am not planning on going back to work until August or September, so I am just keeping our current plan until then - at that point she'll be 8-9 months and we'll try to do formula/solids at daycare and breastmilk/solids at home.
emilie formula we would not warm up. We used room temp water. And I asked DC to do the same (for Leo). BM that has been refrig we usually warm up with hot tap water just because of the fat solidifying up top.

crimpgirl....I think I'm equally excited to get away as I am to see how DH does for 24 hours!!!
Becca, you should see if you have a local chapter of MOTA near you. That's how I found this group. I've been attending monthly meetings since t he twins were 3 weeks old. It's been an amazing source of support and I've made great friends!!
emilie, I serve my bottles room temp, and since I premake bottles for daycare, I asked them to warm only to room temp from the fridge. I've honestly never tried to serve a cold bottle though!!

I kinda can't wait for the last part either. Can you shut your cell off for the night? He'll be fine.... his mom will be there. 😂

I've seen some websites that say you should not let baby nap after 5pm even if it means bedtime at 6 pm, and some that have baby's bedtime at 9 or 10 when mom and dad go to bed. We've been putting N down around 8 usually, but he is often tired and naps around dinner time, so I'm just not sure if we should try to bump his bedtime earlier.
Right now, I'm just ready for this growth spurt to be over - he's gone from waking up to eat 1-2 times each night to waking to eat 3-4 times, and this mama is tired!

I'm not sure what we're doing is right either. She still naps a lot during the day, even after 5 pm. I still wake her to eat during the day every three hours. Typically I feed her at 6, play with her and then let her nap if she wants to. She's in a growth spurt too, I think, so she's napping more. Bedtime starts at 9 pm. I feed her, do diaper change with lots of diaper cream and put on jammies. She sleeps snuggled with me (while I read or watch TV) and then I dreamfeed her at 11. Here lately she's barely waking up to eat five minutes, then going back to sleep. At that point, I put her down for the night, unless she poops during the dreamfeed. She sleeps until 4 or 5, and then I feed her again and put her back down. Her usual wake up time is between 6-7:30, depending on when she wakes up for the previous feed.
sheepish, we put our two to bed at completely different times. DD prefers to fall asleep around 6:30/7. She will typically wake up once during the night for a feeding, DS on the othe hand likes to stay up until 8:30/9, but will then sleep through the night. We've tried to get them on the same schedule, but everyone ends up cranky. Even daycare has realized they have very different napping and eating preferences.
sheepish bedtime is now 9ish. But he does usually take a nap after 5pm. No set nap schedule. If I see he's cranky because he's tired & he's been up for over 1.5 hrs I try to get him to sleep. He'll wake up at 1:30 am, 3 am and 5 am to eat. I'm trying to get rid of the 3 am feed. And he's up at 7 am....and goes back down by 9 am. That's the life. 😴
