I really hope we can pick up the van today or tomorrow. It's going to be close to -30 all week, and I refuse to make S walk to school when it's that cold.
For the last 2 weeks, I've washed my face every day (a habit I never got into when I was younger) and if I've been planning to leave the house I've at least put eyeliner and mascara on. I've been so proud of myself. And then it went out the window this afternoon. H texted me at 3 to say he was just leaving his grandparents house. The bell rings at S's school at 3:10. It's normally a 20 minute walk, I made it in 10. But I had no time to change or put on make-up. Oh well. Such is life

Has anyone else been following rslh's blog? I'm so excited/worried/nervous for her. I also don't like that she usually posts almost every day but now hasn't posted since the 4th. I think her c/s is scheduled for 37 weeks on the 15th. Does anyone know anything more? I want that baby girl to be out and healthy!!!

Can you post the link again? I was for a while but lost my favorites when my phone was stolen.

dizzycooks , https://oursweetk(dot)wordpress(dot)com/ I about had a heart attack when I looked yesterday and saw the title of the post was "gone", but thankfully it wasn't about what I had feared. It's about her rational brain being gone, just so you don't have the same shock I did.

crimsonandclover, rslh literally *just* posted on Instagram. 7 days left. Lovely pic of her bump. All is well. But like you, I am on pins and needles. This baby HAS to be ok.

M has slept great all week. One wakeup per night between 4 and 6, and then back to bed until at least 8. Last night she was up at 10:30, 3:15, and 4:45. I couldn't get back to sleep between the 3:15 and 4:45 ones, it was 5:20 the last time I looked at the clock.
It's -30 with the windchill, so S won't be going to school today. And it's snowing again. Remind me why I like living in Northern Alberta, where we have like 6 and a half months of winter?
ETA - she also has an awesome FB page with admins who help out with sleep issues. There is lots of activity right now about DST. The only way into the FB group is to go through the website (https://www.preciouslittlesleep.com/join-precious-little-sleep-facebook-group/) and fill out a form, then they invite you in. This website and FB page are what finally got me to figure out how to get DD on a sleep schedule in her crib. It's been life changing for me.
Totally forgot about daylight savings. My province is talking about ditching it, but nothing is official. I'm hoping they get rid of it.
S is grumpy today. He's whining about how long it's taking my mom to get here. She doesn't even get off work until 4:30, and it's only 10:40. I told him if he doesn't cut it out, I'm going to make him go take a nap.

The EU I think has also introduced legislation to possibly get rid of DST. I really hope they do it. Who actually likes DST and thinks it's useful?? Anyone? It might be nice in the lower latitudes (comparatively speaking) to have the sun for a bit longer on summer evenings, but from my current perspective, it is useless. Germany is at the latitude of about mid-Canada, and 10pm is just fine for having light in the summer, tyvm. I don't need it until 11pm.

That's where we are. The Canada day fireworks never start before 11. Which can make it difficult with kids. I mean, I routinely flout bedtime, but after midnight is a little ridiculous for the midgets.
IIRC, DST was started because farmers needed more time in the summer for planting and harvesting and stuff, which made it useful, back when pretty much everyone was a farmer. Not so much now that most people are on a 9-5 workday
Lollipop, I'd also often heard it was because of farmers, but all the farmers I knew growing up (very rural area) said it was a pain because they had to slowly adjust the dairy cows' schedules. They're on 12-hour milking schedules and can't just shift an hour from one day to the next (as any of us who have had engorged breasts can completely and totally understand...).
I have never feared Daylight Savings Time as much as I do this year.
This kid is not going to be impressed.
FWIW I haven't had issues with either kid transitioning. You could try putting him down a half hour early to make up for the lost time? That's what we try to work toward a few days leading up to whatever time change we're coming up on.
DST can suck a D It's cold and windy af here. I just want to hide. That's not working. Tomorrow Harley pup gets his stitches out. It's really amazing how much better he is doing the past couple days. He is starting to weight the leg sometimes and just is generally way less Whiney. Also my child has decided that the only way she wants to communicate is by yelling. Like all the time. 🙄

I listened to an interesting NPR story about DST last year, and it is a myth that it was started to help farmers. It was first promoted as a way to conserve energy during WWI and WWII. (Which it actually doesn't.) Then the Chamber of Commerce noticed people spend more money after work when there is more daylight - and they have lobbied for it ever since.
But I agree with kcrkcs - It can suck a D. I hate when the clocks change.
I enjoy the extra daylight time and want them to change it to where we get the extra hour year round.
kcrkcs dd has started a high pitched scream if she doesn't get something she wants ... like right this second. I am trying to teach her to say please but doubt that will help. They are kind of in between being able to verbalized what they need and not so think if it as her beautiful language lol
But then it wouldn't get light until like 9 am in the winter!
Whyyyy do I never think to pick up wine until it's too late?! Seriously, I decide I want some either after we've passed the liquor store, or after I've been dropped off and the kids are in bed. Bummer.

I'm so grateful for the updates but can I just say that every time there is an update to snd's thread my heart leaps into my throat and I'm scared to open it?

DD1 got a fever this afternoon. I have an appointment at the university clinic tomorrow morning (about my liver) that was scheduled 3 months ago. I feel bad that DH is going to have to stay home with her, but I do not want to have to reschedule this. :/
My weight loss seems to be pretty stead at 1 lb per week. I know that's supposed to be healthy and good, but I wouldn't mind if I could get 2 lbs off in one week *occasionally*...
My tattoo is almost healed! Well, the first session, anyway. I'm so excited, I can't wait for the itching to stop, and to be able to shave again. S was very kind to point out how furry my flowers are. Kids have no filter lol
I somehow got sucked into an argument about shamrock shakes. I'm not sure how. All I said was that as an occasional treat, I don't have a problem with them. For other people, anyway. I don't like McDonald's shakes, I think they're gross.
