It's so weird because I have an ece degree but it's pre-k-5th and I haven't been in a class for so long I just feel lost even though I feel like I should know this stuff.
This is me. I have an ECE degree but it is for Birth-6yo .. I was a preschool teacher for 6 years and a toddler teacher for 2. I definitely thought I'd have a better grip on behaviors and expectations at this point but I just feel so out of practice.
Also an ECE over here. Being educated in ECE and being a parent, totally different! lol. At the end of the day, we are all winging it! All those little, amazing beings are so different, especially in home with momma, then in a group setting.

I'm working remotely at a coffee shop and finding it hard to concentrate. I don't know what's worse, being at the office and constantly interrupted, or being in public listening to the ridiculous conversations of the general public! lol
Got my hair did. Love the colour, and the cut was as good as it can be for growing it out, but it still feels awkward.

@janetheconquerer WTF? I get that doctors need to do that sometimes, but it really sucks to have mentally prepared for one thing and then have to switch gears. I'm sorry.

Hi! Jumping in– need to go back and read the 7 pages (plus whatever from the weekend) that I missed while I was away.
Spent a long weekend in Ohio, outside of Dayton. MH's grandmother turned 100. She met Poppy (and me) for the first time. I'm glad we went, but am happy to be home– got back yesterday.
Chaotic week– interviewing graduate school applicants all week (except tomorrow– because we're shutting down our department for the International Women's Day Strike).

ampaints, I saw your tag from the weekend. YES– I noticed Zoe's voice is changed, and it bothered me too! I looked it up and it's a new performer. Apparently the original Zoe performer retired. Grrrrr....
and that pre-op appointment isn't suppose to happen until at least a week before surgery. so who knows what happens now. i don't even know what time it is anymore. that stupid coordinator isn't calling me back.

I almost forgot to share my crazy neighborhood drama– there was a shooting a couple blocks from me yesterday afternoon. (This is not normal in my neighborhood.)
I was home, and could hear so many sirens and helicopters. It turned out that an ex-cop shot his landlord, and then barricaded himself in the apartment building for a couple hours before he was finally apprehended. They're still investigating.

Had to ask my mom to start limiting the kindle/YouTube time. Amelia walks in her house, asks for the kindle, gets it, then watches videos for the next hour and a half. My mom puts out all of these toys and activities to keep her busy but A doesn't touch a single one of them because she just stares at the kindle the whole time. I told her that I know it's easy and it's what she likes but we need to limit it to a half hour (I still feel this is generous), So then She asked if it's ok to still put on the tv (with kid shows)... Cue my eye roll.. I told her yes, it's ok, only because A is picky about what she actually watches and none of her shows are on now. I just hate how much she relies on technology/screens. My MIL was over to visit this past weekend and she didn't sit or watch TV for a minute because A was actually playing and interacting with her

When I picked Poppy up from dc today they told me that at lunchtime she cried until someone cut her pasta for her, and that "maybe the pieces were too big." It was penne. She had it last night and ate it herself with gusto, and I probably send her to dc with it at least once a week. She was just crying because she wanted to be a picky toddler.
OK I think I'm just annoying W by asking him to say words. He's now just responding with "no". I'm doing it during reading and our games and getting really excited if he even just makes a noise but he's over it. I don't know whether to back off or what.
Has your Dr or someone asked you to do this? I haven't caught up yet so maybe it's answered

I just saw your more recent post. Id back off, and maybe do it for shorter periods of time throughout the day instead of alll at once.
DD is also in speech therapy (she's older so the needs are different) but one of our techniques might be helpful for you. We were encouraged to follow her lead. Talk to her a lot while she is doing things she loves - playing with blocks, playing in her kitchen - instead of introducing objects and trying to interact with her. Also, to Talk out loud as we maneuver through our day so she can hear us talking.
