How much would power lines in your backyard bother you? They are distribution lines...The ones that bring power to your individual house, but they are low...Like maybe 10 feet off the ground.
Could they be raised?
or buried? At our old house everyone had above ground lines. Our neighbors paid to have them buried -I'm not sure how much it cost.
jnetx, I would definitely call the power company. When we moved into our current house, the power lines were pretty close to our guest room window. They came out and raised them for free. I assume they would do something similar for low lines.

AFM, this conference schedule plus the time zone change is kicking my butt. I had dinner with a client and came back to the hotel at 10 last night (aka- 1 am in the morning for my East Coast body). Then had to be back at work at 6:30 this morning. I'm too old for this ish, but also the youngest one here. Womp, womp. 2 days to go!
Today is going well, as far as work is concerned. I feel more alert and focused today. After work we are going to HomeGoods to look at rugs for the living room. What's been really getting me down is my lack of energy and organization with this work /wife/wom thing. Never mind the me that used to be. It feels like I'm on that stupid carnival ride that spins you around and then the floor drops. We have a birthday party to go to on Sat. I think Daddy is doing this one solo. I need to be still
forevermorgan, I hope you get some answers soon, and that it's something easy to treat.
@ceci8876, I feel you. 20 months in and I still do not feel like I have my parenting sea legs. For a control freak like me, a willful little toddler is both a delight and a massive challenge. I'm trying to be better at letting her do her thing, and stop needing to control every thing or have everything just so. It's just not going to happen these days.

Once I figured this out I became a much more relaxed person. My DH says it took about 3 years and 2 kids. My coils aren't wound so tightly and what is a "mess" now is waaay different than what a mess was pre kids. It's a journey - be kind to yourselves

I'm posting this for a friend of mine. I don't know if you all know Macaroni Kid - but its a national organization that is super local and provides calendars and ideas to do things with your kids. I live by the calendar in my area.
They are mostly run by SAHM's who are looking for extra income and enjoy being out and about with their kids. Nationally they are looking for more people to join their team. Here is the message from my friend if any of you would be interested:
Hey all of my mom friends. I know I have friends all over the place so I thought I would just reach out to everyone. You all probably see me post a lot about Macaroni Kid (I can't help myself, I just love what I do). I would love to chat with you and see if your area already has a Macaroni Kid edition or if you would like to learn more about being a Macaroni kid publisher mom and starting one in your area. I love that being a Macaroni kid publisher mom gives me the opportunity to work on something for myself while being a SAHM plus it is all about being a mom and I am able to give my kids so many opportunities through Macaroni kid. With Macaroni Kid we have this amazing network of women all over the country to support and encourage each other through this journey. If you are interested or know of a mom who might be interested please send me a pm or email at XXXXXX so we can chat some more.
If you are interested let me know and I can PM you her email.
My healthy white cheddar popcorn isnt white cheddar-y enough and now Im mad. #FWP
Ugh. Had this experience over the weekend. Told my H I wasn't happy with it and he had the nerve to be like, "really? but you still ate the whole bag."

The JCC here (including the daycare) was evacuated today because of a bomb threat. Ugh ugh ugh. My (Jewish) friend is so upset about it. Her kid doesn't go to daycare there but they do go to programming a lot. My heart hurts that she has to feel afraid.

THIS SHIT KEEPS HAPPENING AND I'M SO FUCKING SICK OF IT. WHY IS THIS NOT BEING ADDRESSED NATIONALLY? WHAT ARE THE PLANS IN PLACE TO PROTECT THESE CENTERS AND THE TERRIFIED FAMILIES?

Because they are too busy trying to keep Muslims out of our country and take healthcare away from low income families and the elderly.
I am just so effing angry at the state of the world today. I don't have anything else in me but to be sarcastic or really angry at how this all happened.

Honestly, a whole lot is in place to protect centers. Ours added a full-time armed guard in the daycare wing. They reviewed the facility plans with both the local PD and the state division of the department of homeland security. The facility is already set back from the road and will have additional structural provisions put in place to protect it from a car-based bomb. They're replacing the daycare street-facing windows with bullet proof film for the glass.
Senator Schumer (NY) petitioned the FCC for a waiver of a provision that would make it easier to identify the source of the calls. The FBI is investigating (it's how they found the one guy they consider to be a "copycat"), but won't comment because it's an active investigation. I will feel a lot better once whoever has been behind these threats is in custody.
I'd be lying if I said I'm not concerned or afraid, because I am. But these centers are more well-prepared to defend against a threat than any other public structure, unfortunately because they're more likely to be threatened than any other structure. My daughter loves her school. She is so happy there. I really do not want to pull her and I don't have any plans to do so at this time.
OMG GUYS. I just used a "chilly" brand "intimate wipe" (baby wipes for women...) and I now understand why the brand name is chilly. IT'S NUMB. IT'S LIKE I USED BENGAY. HELP. WHEN IS IT GOING TO GO BACK TO NORMAL. MY NETHERREGIONS ARE CHILLY.

I'm relieved to know the facilities themselves have resources to keep them safe. I'm more disgruntled by the apathy coming from the White House about these threats. Perhaps nothing Trump says or does will make me feel better about this situation until the bastard(s) are caught. However, I feel like he has handled things so poorly and I'm so disappointed that this keeps happening to people I love and care about.

What upsets me has been the administration's response to it. It took a long time for the President to say anything about it. I mean, yeah he finally did, but a big part of me was all "too little too late." Much of the anti-Semitism and racism we have seen has been in your name since the election. Where have you been? Going after Nordstrom on Twitter?

@katechristine18 YES YES YES to the "too little too late." He was more concerned about making sure everyone knew we was "THE LEAST ANTI-SEMITIC PERSON I KNOW" instead of tactfully and sincerely responding to the public about the threats early on.
italianmommy, @katechristine18, I get it. I think he hasn't done enough and he lacks a shred of credibility on this issue (and many others). I think I'm just getting to the point where I think it's completely pointless to expect that HE will change, and very necessary to keep putting pressure on those who could change, to do so. www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2017/03/saturday-night-live-tbd-republican-hero-video-trailer
Like if both of you haven't yet called your Congressperson and your Senator and your mayor, please do, and please ask them these questions, because that would help keep these communities safe. It's really easy, you call, and you nicely say I'm a constituent and I'm very upset by the reports of X and I'd like to know what you are doing. You comment on their Facebook pages, and you thank them for what they are doing, and you ask why they aren't doing more.

I read today that all 100 US Senators sent a signed letter to the Trump administration urging them to do more regarding this issue. I hope that the administration takes more action. But, I don't expect a 70-year-old racist anti-Semite to change at this point in his life. I can't even believe that someone like this is in the office of President. It still baffles me.
And Senator Pat Toomey has gotten many earfuls from me over the past year, and years before, well, the nice lady answering the phone at his office has, anyway:) I cannot stand the guy but it has never stopped me from contacting him, and I will about this as well.
First, I'm sorry for such a flippant post in the middle of very serious ones. I really need to learn to catch up before posting stupid things.
I've been typing and deleting my reaction to babies being behind bulletproof glass and being protected by an armed guard. Guys, move here. Our economy may suck and who knows what is going to happen with the EU, but... wow.
@katechristine18 and too busy threatening Planned Parenthood. Since apparently that's where all us flaming liberals REALLY house all the terrorists.
I have so many feels regarding Planned Parenthood. So many, like, what they are up against right now is keeping me up at night.
When I didn't have health care in college (this was before the ACA where you could stay insured through a parent's plan up until 26 years old) I went to PP for my annual exams and birth control because I had nowhere else to go and I didn't want to fall behind when it came to my reproductive care. During one of those exams, they found that I had pre-cancerous cells in my cervix. I was able to get a procedure done for more testing and essentially had my cervix scraped out. They did it for a cost, but it was affordable. And I know going through this is common for many women, but I mean it scared the crap out of me, and they were so supportive and so helpful. They armed me with information about better diet and exercise and how lifestyle changes can combat something like that. I had more testing done and the cells were gone, and have been gone since.
