Yay my domperidone arrived. How much and how many times did you take it a day? I may have to call my Ob today
Start with 3 pills 3 times a day. If you need to, you can increase it to 3 pills 4 times a day. The max dose is 4 pills 4 times a day, per Dr. Jack Newman (the advocate of Dom for BF).

I started with 30mg (3 pills) 3x a day for a month, then increased to 40mg (4 pills) 3x a day. karabear4409 I had no idea you could go up to 4 pills 4x a day. I'm weaning off of it now, but I wish I knew that earlier!

How soon did you see an increase in output?
The next day! We still had to supplement, but I went from providing maybe 10% BM to 50-60% BM

turquoisequeen I have a medela PISA. What sort of hands free did you use while pumping and driving? I have the hands free bras. I also got the freemie cups, but I only used them once and wasn't impressed.
mrspotatohead91 thanks so much. Your schedule sounds pretty similar to what I'll likely be doing. I'm pretty lucky that with DH's schedule I generally have a lot of support so except for the 24 hours he's at work he's around to do the feedings while I pump (he works 24 hours on, 72 hours off). We have a mothers room at work where I can go to pump so I know that will at least be ok (assuming I will not have a solo office when I go back). I'm down to 6 pumps a day now (7 weeks PP). If Z feeds in the MOTN I pump then, but I am hoping we're cutting those out these next couple of weeks as we transition to waking up early in preparation for me going back to work. Any tips for pumping in the car, hands free recommendations, other accessories I might need? I have a nursing cover to use in the car to pump. I do still need to get a car adapter for my pump.
I used a hands free pumping bra every time I pumped. The first week or so, I didn't have one and don't know how I did it without one! I had a couple pumping bras that you could wear all day but with big boobs, they weren't supportive enough for work so I just wore a regular nursing bra. I'll try to find the brand name of the pumping bra. I would connect the bottles to the flanges prior to Getting in the car and leave the tubes connected to the pump so all I had to do was plug in the car adapter and connect to the flanges. I used the medela pump wipes all the time and had a mini fridge in my office to store pump parts and my milk. I didn't wash in between pumps at work but would wipe down with the medela wipes.
Thanks for the check in bluefairy5! Sorry I'm so bad at keeping up with TCF...probably haven't checked in for a couple weeks.
Hi ladies!
Successes: We passed 9 months EBF! Woo hoo Also she's expanding her solid food palate and is very interested in ALL the foods!
Challenges: Oh boy, as has happened a couple times during this journey I'm freaking out about my dwindling freezer stash. AF returning seems to have messed with my supply at certain points. As of now, I have enough for THREE (!!) bottles in the freezer. I'm considering supplementing a bit with formula....but I really don't want to! I feel like "I've made it this far, I wanna do a year!" But I know I have to prioritize getting L fed and not driving myself crazy with stress in the process.
Goal: Make it to a year EBF (still). I realize that as things stand now, I may not achieve that.
Question: What is the consensus on when it's OK to supplement with WCM? I vaguely remember the pedi telling us we could give her a bit as early as 9 months (!!). Which seemed crazy early to me. But given my current struggles I'm tempted to ask him again (& ask for resources/studies to back it up if he says it's OK).
QOTW: We haven't yet! It's on our to do list though....probably closer to her birthday.
Uterine fibroids (removed by robotic myomectomy 11/14) and past removal of L ovary/tube d/t ovarian torsion (4/99). New diagnosis of endometriosis (5/15)

wanderlust most peds will say no WCM before 12 mo. Some stay adding some in around 11 mo is fine which is what we did with DS bc I was running out of freezer milk and didn't want to start formula at that point. He did completely fine with the wcm at 11 mo.

Checking in super late this week, sorry.
Things are good here. M had a stomach virus this past weekend so she has been nursing much more frequently this week. I think she has just been getting her appetite back and enjoying nursing more than food.
Whenever she is sick though she gets way more clingy which means lots of comfort nursing. I have definitely been getting a little touched out this week.
QOTW: we do not have a passport for her but we need to get on that.
ETA: my text to speech just changed she to banshee...sort of accurate.
AFM - Well, I've officially made the decision to exclusively pump. I have mixed feelings about it. It's certainly not the way I thought things would be, but I think it's the best decision for us. I think eventually we could get to a really great nursing relationship, but the stress and uncertainty in the interim was just too much for me. I was constantly concerned that she wasn't getting enough through nursing or constantly obsessing over when to pump or not pump...it was just a lot. I only have 5 weeks left in my maternity leave, and I just couldn't keep dragging out making a decision.
Unfortunately, we were never able to get to the point where nursing was a meaningful, bonding experience for Z and I. So the only thing I feel like I'm giving up with my decision is the convenience of nursing. I am, obviously, concerned about how I'll manage to pump 6 times a day and still have a life, but I have faith I can work it out. And, at out last appointment our LC said if this was the decision we made she'd work with me on how to incorporate pumping into my life.
So, it's not perfect, but I think this is the right decision. So, for now, my goal is to make it 6 months.
Is anyone else here a pumper?
I EPed with my daughter for 3 months and then she finally latched perfectly at 13 weeks. It's hard work but rewarding
Not much going on here. Just KOKO. We are almost 8 months into our journey and C is still EBF except for a small amount of solids per day. She feeds about 3x a night still but it's quick (she chugs). I'm not sure if she just needs it for comfort or is actually hungry.
We are thinking about maybe doing another FET in the fall. But that wont work if I want to do extended nursing with C. Sigh! I think I need to totally wean at least a month before any FET meds. She turns a year in July and nursing has worked out really great for us bonding wise (after huge initial challenges) so I'm not in any hurry to stop. In in the minority that doesn't mind pumping at work at all but I have my own private office and no time constraints etc.

mrspotatohead91 thanks, definitely let me know if you remember what pumping bras you used. I always pump with the hands free bra at home too. I didn't the first few weeks and I don't know what I was thinking.

Hi everyone. Sorry for the PNR. I realize we will have a new thread tomorrow and I'll probably just XP this but I have a minute now to sit and type this up.
I mentioned last check in that things have been challenging recently because we've been travelling, I didn't have enough chances to pump, my supply went down, I got a blocked duct, etc. I've been back for over a week and babies have been nursing constantly (like every hour), so I've been trying to figure out if it was just for comfort since I left them or if they are really so hungry all the time because they're not getting enough. Today I took them to the pediatrician for their flu shots and weighed them. G is still at 16th percentile but M is down to 5th. I'm really concerned they're not getting enough. I will try the usual tricks for increasing supply but in the meantime their doctor wants us to offer a bottle of formula before bed and add one more meal of solids each day. I am pretty bummed to find out he's not growing enough despite all my hard work.
bluefairy5 Please change my tag to "primarily BF with purees 3x/day and 1 bottle formula before bed"
