goldenlove3, okay I'll say it--that pic of you in the walker could be C! Wow!
So, D had a major growth spurt last week. She was seriously eating like it was going out of style. Monday night she wore her normal swaddle sack to bed, no problem. Tuesday night I put it back on her but noticed after she fell asleep that her feet were actually completely flexed against the bottom, so I had to unzip the bottom to let her legs out. Literally overnight she outgrew the damn thing.
Anyway her physical growth has been accompanied by some other drastic changes. Within a two day span she has stretched both her time between feedings and time between naps to 2.5 hours instead of 2.
She's also super cranky. Her favorite toys no longer do it for her. I'm kind of at a loss because I think mentally she is ready to sit up to play, but physically she isn't there yet. She hasn't been trying at all to roll back to belly. Is that something I should be working on with her?
She is, however, doing sit ups, and holding that position. Like so:

Oh man.. today was such a great day until the very end. C was in the cutest mood all day and he took a great nap at a decent time. But I think we pushed it with bedtime. He was talking and giggling like crazy but as soon as I put jammies on, he was SCREAMING. I tried to feed him but I guess he didn't want food because he'd start sucking then scream again. Only the paci calmed him down and now he's asleep.
We also tried a taste of avacado again today and used his spoon this time. He did really well with it and seems to know what he's doing. Tomorrow is his 4 month appointment so hopefully she says it's fine to start solids because he seems eager and ready.

dashook That's crazy! I didn't know they could grow overnight like that. Do you have any toys that she can sit in to play? I know lots of us use the sit me up.
And yea it's funny because I always think that he looks more like my brother but then I see pictures of me and he's my twin. He does look like H too at times. He goes back and forth all the time.
dashook Damn go girl. Adeline just did the same thing with the growing out of stuff overnight and stretching nap time!!! D reminds me of her in a few ways so I'll share what I did for funsies. I really think A is way ahead mentally, and lucky that she's so tiny she's able to accommodate alot of things that maybe a normal sized 4 month old couldn't (just based on her brother) . But this is also the reason she's always so overstimulated and gets bored SO SO SO fast.
Looks like D is def trying to sit up. That is the same exact thing that I kept seeing in Adeline to make me need something else - she can't tolerate the RnP or even bouncer (more than 1x a day) bc she wants to sit straight up. So this past weekend we bought a "FP sit me up" and a "FP convertible space saving high chair". She pretty much hates the sit me up- cries the second she goes in - I think it's bc it's so confining and she wants to be freeeeeee. But she does REALLY well in the high chair.
I personally put it on the ground and put her in that and Alec in the sit me up so I can feed them together or play together. The highchair has a newborn setting and infant setting (and eventually toddler setting). So when I'm feeding her I put it newborn style so her head is just very slightly tilted but not enough to annoy her - not sure she even notices. And then play time she goes to infant setting. It has a 5 point harness so that's good too.
Is really recommend something transitional like that if you think she's trying to sit up... I couldn't take watching her strain anymore and she kept making herself spit up because she was basically doing crunches all day. She loves this option of sitting now. She can't sit on her own (ETA outside of something like this, meaning she can't sit on the floor alone), but does have perfect head control (just so you have an idea if need be).
She started doing back-to-tummy on her own and that's the only thing she wants to do when she's laid down. As far as trying to assist D with it, is she grabbing her feet yet? I think once Adeline figured that out the rest was history - so if D is doing that then maybe prompt her to tilt to her side when she grabs them. If not then maybe start with putting her feet up in the air and to her face when she's on her back ??

cookswithwine9 I've been looking at the maxi cosi pria because it's super highly rated for its moisture wicking fabric. We never got more than a 20 minute nap in the bucket seat because she would really hot and sweaty so that fabric piqued my interest. It was on super sale last week on Amazon for $164 so I immediately bought two. I wanted a different color initially, but that was $329 each....I couldn't say no to two for the price of one.
kleigh H is still going back and forth on it. He can't do more than Friday to Sunday which means two entire days traveling and only one full day there. Idk if it's worth it. Especially since it's a sunset wedding at 7:30 aka bedtime. If I have to miss the entire reception, what's the point. Boo.
Ugh hangry I hope you have two sleeping kiddos and a giant glass of wine right now. I'm way behind, but I'm trying some of the things you suggested to me in yesterday's thread. So far she's out and not attached to me so FX all she wanted is more food leading up to bedtime and wasn't giving hungry cues because it's generally busier in the house around dinner time. Thank you!!!!
I hope both kiddos are back to feeling 100% tomorrow jubilantsquirrel!
Did J make it all the way over waitwhat? M hasn't done it since Monday lol.
danib M did great at first too and then was all out of sorts yesterday (the next day) I couldn't figure out wtf was going on until it dawned on me. I wish I would have figured it out sooner because as soon as I got some Tylenol in her she was back to her happy self. Oof.
I agree with dashookgoldenlove3!! C is your mini me! That picture is adorable.
That's incredible dashook! I highly recommend the sit me up as well. M either wants to be flat or sitting up. Anything slightly reclined pisses her off because she tries sitting up the entire time instead of playing. Back to belly isn't expected until 6 months, we just have a lot of early kiddos on here. My Pedi was actually surprised that M rolled belly to back already considering her size. I guess it is true that these larger babies have a harder time rolling.

Oh no kleigh I'm so sorry AV hates the sit me up. I totally recommended that to you. Shit. Please tell me that AB tolerates it enough to have been a worth while purchase? I didn't even think about how differently our two girls would fit in it. M is completely upright in it now and....I've had to cut the leg holes because she got stuck yesterday. Like stuck stuck didn't know what to do stuck.
kleigh thanks for the advice! She is not grabbing her feet yet. She's been rolling belly to back since 1 month and 1 day old but just seems to have no interest in going the other way. Apparently she wants to sit first!
We actually had the sit me up seat for DS but loaned it to my BIL when his daughter was born. I've asked DH to get it back when he sees them this weekend. I also asked H to set up D's high chair so that she can sit in it and see everyone (especially DS) going about their business, and also grab toys off the tray to chew on, which I know she'll love.
It's just crazy to me how quickly and obviously she has changed in the span of a week.

Shit @sarahwithanh! I feel like this happens every time right when you should be getting ready to get just a wink of sleep. I really hope he's ok. Please keep us updated if you can. I'll be thinking about both of you.
@sarahwithanh does M sometimes get stridor? Is it more than what you've heard before? Is he comfortable? Hands down, you know him best. If your gut says something isn't right, trust yourself. You've been confidant and comfortable with his medical decisions this far; I'm sure you'll figure out what to do.
I can relate on a minor level with O's asthma. I never know when he's wheezing too much and if we need to go to the doctor or at what level the ER for steroids or nebulizer. I don't want to be that mom that over reacts, but I've also had the doctor basically say I should have brought him sooner. Felt like shit after that one!
sophiegrace J didn't go all the way yet. Hopefully this weekend! He's soooo close. He wants to but you can tell he doesn't know what to do with his arm.
dashook J found his feet so that helped him get the momentum to turn on his side. I also have a little mirror and some rings I've been rbtig
don't even know how this happened. Fat fingers I guess.
or too much wine. But then again, can you ever have too much wine?

@sarahwithanh - go with your mama gut. There is tons of research proving if mom thinks something is "off" (even if she's not sure exactly what) it probably is.
waitwhat - holy cow- those pictures! We had crazy wind here too.
I need to look into these Sit Me ups - DS2 also hates laying down now.
Hoping for a good night of sleep. 2 nights ago he was a total unicorn and slept 8 hours. Then last night up at 1,3, 5 and 6. This part (when there is just no consistency) is so hard. Makes me anxious every night.
sophiegrace AB loves it!!! I can see M getting stuck, poor thing, it's a tight squeeze for AB for sure. But honestly no worries! You can never know what one kid likes and the other doesn't - case in point neither of mine seem to like the same things. She sits up perfectly well in it, I think she just hates being confined - correction, I know she hates feeling confined.
@sarahwithanh No break, never a break. Poor Monty and mom. I'll echo others, you know him best - if it doesn't feel right then go in. You're not going to be able to sleep if you question if you should and you don't. I am so so sorry.
dashook A month and she was rolling, that's crazy. Mine just did it like two-ish or so weeks ago. Adeline prefers rolling back to tummy but isn't as consistent with going tummy to back so even though ahead in one regard, maybe iffy in another.
goldenlove3 Cute picture! We should do a way throwback to is as babies/little kids someday.
hangry The toddler refusing to nap thing is the worst. Lillian turns into a crazy person. When she falls asleep for like 5 minutes and I think maybe she'll nap for me but she wakes up yelling no nap I can feel myself cracking up a little.
dashook Lilah is doing that trying to sit up thing, too! I hate when she does it right after eating because she makes herself spit up. I have been putting her in the activity bouncer, but of course it helps her stand not sit. She enjoys it though.
kleigh We have that space saving highchair too. We got it for Lillian and she loves it. She does not like it without the back, though. I need to get another one. I bought a toddler booster seat to move Lillian to, but it's clear that she's really attached to her highchair. Hmm...
@sarahwithanh I'm so sorry you're feeling so on edge. You know him best. I hope he is ok and you get some rest. Hugs.
shedreamsincolor I totally get it about anxiety regarding what sleep will be like each night. We mostly only have crappy nights but I can't fall asleep not knowing when the next wake up will be. Sooo tiring.
