We spend pretty much our whole day at home and I think the babies get bored by the end of the day playing with the same toys. I want to start taking them to story time at the book store and getting out more, but I'm also looking for fun, stimulating activities to do with them at home. Ideas?

*glitter and water into some old baby bottles *Velcro onto a shoe box *crocheted a few toys (after DS goes to bed of course because he won't leave me alone when he's awake) *put him on a blanket and pull him around the house on the hard floors *play with water beads in a Ziploc bag taped to a window *play with measuring cups/spoons, wooden spoons, and other kitchen utensils *old TV remote with no batteries
*Facebook marketplace for gently used toys on the cheap
DS is also scooting around and trying to crawl, so I have his toys split into baskets and I will move them around the living room or to different rooms that we play in every couple days. It gives him long enough to forget about some of the toys, then I reintroduce them.
ETA: I was going to ask this too. I need it to warm up already because some days I am ready to lose my mind with boredom by the time H gets home from work.
Don't feel bad we never took DD anywhere. DS goes places now but only bc I started taking DD places. When she was younger we did the park and walks once it was nice. That was my go to activity.
But story time is good or even walking around the mall. Don't discount people watching for them. If you aren't against germs play gyms can be fun. Me I didn't like those places until my DD was older. Despite being exposed to germs at daycare, after she left those places she got sick immediately. Only now she can go there and not get sick. But that's my opinion. At home I know your space is limited but I'd just change rooms. I'm clearly not creative. Haha.

Also I haven't done this yet but I want to make a "busy board." I just want to the dollar store and bought a ton of crap that I'm going to glue to a board. Here's the inspiration. m.huffpost.com/ca/entry/9300486

I love this idea, but I wouldn't even know where to start. I would love to see a picture of your finished board!
My daughter gets so bored at home too. I want to implement some of hannahbears ideas but I never have time to make it to Michaels. Maybe I should just check Amazon

Will do! I'm thinking I'll work on it tomorrow during nap time.
I sometimes plop a whole pile of Mardi Gras type beads on the floor. She likes to pull, shake, and otherwise tangle them. (Of course, I watch that she doesn't put them around her neck!)

So glad I'm not a stay at home mom because I'm so bad at this!! On the weekends I'm like let's crawl around, and play with same stacking blocks, and nap, repeat! I am terrible at adding anything educational or stimulating lol

Truuuuuth.
Baby Girl, here's your stacking cups. What? You don't like them? Um, okay... here's your barn. But, you only played with it for three minutes. Uhhh... ::looks at the snow:: then ::looks at the clock:: Shit.

I think my time at work (part time rn) makes me excited for the time we do have to play together! I was so depressed during his new born months, but now I'm just having a blast!

I find that at this age, everything is so new and stimulating for them. Today, Ds2 crawled into the kitchen and then sat down in front of a low cabinet. He examined the pulls and pet the door for about 10 minutes.
I will put different toys in different rooms. So then if I take him into my room to fold laundry, he gets to play with something different. I'm not very creative or pintrest-y bit they don't seem to mind!

Nanny has been doing mess free finger painting (put the paint in a gallon size ziplock), cloth in the O Ball holes so she can pull them out with her pincer grasp, edible finger painting.
I have been doing nothing education except reading.

Man, I feel like a slacker. I poked DS in the belly with a wooden spoon for 5 min because it made him laugh like a maniac. Then DH did it too when he came home because the video I sent him was cracking him up.

I love this. I did pretend "judo- chop!" To his neck for ten minutes because it had him cracking up!
