Sorry for the AW post but it's been a rough day over here and I need hair pats.
Ever since finding out that M is not growing enough I've been super anxious about nursing. I feel like they never have enough and they're always hungry but I don't know how to know if they are actually hungry or if it's all in my head. It's a terrible feeling to nurse your baby and then have them cry because you didn't have enough.
M is also not taking the bottles well, at least for me. I don't know if he's not actually hungry, or doesn't like the formula, or is just mad to be getting a bottle when he knows my boobs are nearby. Either way it's stressing me out, especially because I'm supposed to leave them with my parents next weekend and he needs to eat!
He also started biting tonight. I don't know if it's because he's mad there's not enough milk, or if he has more teeth coming in (which could also explain why he's not taking a bottle, and mostly just biting the nipple).
Also I think G is both teething and getting a cold. She's eating a ton. This afternoon I took a 2 hour nap and she took almost 8 ounces of formula from H (and I nursed right before my nap!).
I know you're not supposed to quit on a bad day. But I just feel so discouraged right now... and between the biting and the anxiety it's really hard at the moment.
Oh also our babysitter had a family emergency last weekend, didn't work all week and we haven't heard from her about next week yet. So I am pretty much on my own a lot of the time and I am so exhausted and I need a break.

bocaburger, Hugs to you, that's a lot going on at once.
Has M done well with this type of formula before? Does he take the bottle better from DH? If he hasn't had a problem with the formula in the past and gives your DH trouble with the bottle also, maybe it really is teething related.

H wasn't there this evening so I don't know if he would have taken it better from him. He did let H give him a bottle a couple days ago but I can't remember if it was formula or breastmilk. He has had this formula in the past but infrequently.

Hmm, maybe the bottle coming from you was part of the problem. I hope your babysitter can help you out this week. You deserve a little break.
bocaburger, I'm sorry you're feeling so stressed about it. My first had no trouble with boob/bottle and was a tremendous eater of solids. My second was a never bottler which was stressful for everyone given I was back to work at 4m. He only really ate solids once I weaned down to twice a day. I haven't followed closely exactly how your LO is growing. Can you elaborate again so I can brainstorm a bit. I agree with not quitting on a bad day. But biting makes a bad day suck hard. Sorry. Hugs and hair pats.

bocaburger Sending many hugs. Hopefully today was a better day. It does all sound pretty similar to teething for a lot of kids. On the babysitter front, I'm going to be starting some interviews soon for a couple options for part-time/back-up/weekend-evening care. Not sure how much longer you'll be in this general area, but if you find you need different coverage, I'm happy to update you with info on the ones I like.

Big hugs! Nursing is such an emotional battle.
I think some of this may be bad timing. Olivia went through a period of time where she started biting (teeth followed about a month later). It took some work to get through that. Every time she bit, I popped her off and gave her a second and tried again. Eventually, she figured it out.
Also, the teething could be to blame for chewing the bottle but M could also be full. Is there a way you could go to the pedi and do a weighted feed to see how much he gets?
Baby colds suck so bad too. I hope she feels better soon!
Hang in there. I wish I had more to offer. I had some awful days with Olivia and I only had her to contend with.

Thanks everyone. Today was a bit better but we are still struggling.
westiemom A weighted feed is A great idea. There's a place near me where I can do that. I'll try to go tomorrow.
bluefairy5 Thanks. I actually have 3 backup sitters. 2 aren't available tomorrow and the third hasn't responded, which is concerning because she is usually super responsive. Our usual person isn't responding at all so we have no idea when she'll be back. We do have someone lined up for later in the week but she is way more expensive than our usual person.

bocaburger ((hugs)) hope you're able to figure out what's going on with M and find a sitter.
So ladies in struggling with pumping enough to send to daycare, but we seen fine on the weekends when I'm just NOD. Its so frustrating. I typically send 3 5oz bottles. Now I'm short 2-3oz fairly often and my freezer stash is down to 4 5oz bottles so that's not much help. DD will be 7 months this week and is on 3 meals of puree. Is it normal to decrease at this point or am I not making enough?
I'll also add, we're dealing with a potential FPIES allergy diagnosis for DD (think severe vomiting/diarrhea instead of hives/swelling), so I'm nervous to supplement and make her sick. It looks like it's rice and oats so far, but milk/soy is the most common.

If she's already at 3 meals, then it is definitely reasonable to expect her milk intake will go down. Especially if it's only 2-3 oz. across an entire day. If you're nervous about supplementing (understandable, with potential FPIES), see what happens if you send 4-oz bottles and up the puree volume a bit. Could be she's just ready and daycare is feeding her the same amount of milk out of habit. That's not uncommon at all!
