I called ins today to check on the status of a DME (bath chair) and it was denied. The lady I spoke with told me that at this point I need to try appealing it. So. Anyone write an appeal letter? Any tips? Anything I should NOT say?
He's in that big tub thing now and it's the best solution so far, but he still slides around, tips over and doesn't catch himself when he falls, leans too far forward, and sometimes he just straightens his body and I can't get him to bend. He's so light and skinny that he kind of floats almost sometimes. Washing his hair is impossible. It seems to be a combination of strength and just plain not understanding what's going on.
I can ask his PT to write a letter too in case that helps. They do have doctors notes already.
ETA I am looking up examples. There is a guide for this particular item so that will help.
I've also, seen people use the plastic kids adirondack chairs since they're reclined and then the rubber resistance type bands around their chest and thighs. We also have the shower head that comes down like a hose which helps.

See, I think he needs something that actually straps each leg in. And possibly his torso. I found this cheaper one Wenzelite Otter Pediatric Bathing System, Green, Medium www.amazon.com/dp/B002VWK39I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_.OwYyb18KWK5C but I would assume the rifton is better and it's still a lot of money for something I can't see in person
Are you lying him in the molded part to wash his hair? That should hold him in place, it held my son when he first was paralyzed. You can look at pictures on amazon of different ways people use the eurobath

I'm not. I tried that side and I don't remember what the issue was. I'll try again.

For a second I thought the issue was that I was making up trying it lol. I got his hair washed but he like gets spooked and straightens his body so his bottom slips over that plastic piece, which spooks him even more. It worked though. I just had to act fast. He's actually sitting on the slanted side now and he seems more sturdy. He fell backwards but he couldn't slide anywhere. So I'll keep trying this, he seems happy.
Just saw an ad for the splashy by firefly. They're the ones who make the upsee and the go to seat. There usually affordable ish, and it's portable! You could also do a small fundraiser to cover the cost for it.
