tgrimes1980 did you quit nursing cold turkey or weaning off?
O is still sick. It's so frustrating! I just want him to be better. The nights have been aweful. He's so congested he can't even breathe. On a positive note, I think he has turned the corner because no fever in 24 hours and he's coughing a lot more like trying to get the mucus out. My mom has him again today. He hasn't been to daycare in a week and I honestly don't ever want him to go back but I don't have a choice.
cookswithwine9, I'm so sorry poor O is still sick tgrimes1980 have you started antibiotics yet? The two times I've had mastitis, they gave me some crazy 4 x's/day course that knocked that ish to the curb. Hope you start feeling better soon!
cookswithwine9 Sorry to hear O is still sick. Poor little thing--and poor Mama! tgrimes1980 Tell your boobs to act right.
waitwhat C spits up a good bit, too...way more than B ever did. She is also still large and in charge at almost 17 lbs. You would think I would learn to keep a bib or burp cloth handy but no. I asked the pedi this week and she said it may be b/c I have a fast let-down and the initial 'gulping' causes a bubble that the milk sits on, and then it comes back up. So I'm trying to be more cognizant of pulling her off frequently to burp, etc. We'll see if it helps.
I've missed y'all. It's been quite a week. Tuesday was carpet installation day and of course the installers' schedule got messed up, so instead of being the first job of the day we were LAST. So it was a late night reassembling our closet system, putting all our stuff back, etc. Plus, you know, getting the rest of the house clean for photographs yesterday morning. (My mom and aunt have been so helpful, they're amazing.)
Buuut...everything worked out OK and we had showings scheduled before the photos even went up on MLS with the listing. Our area is crazy right now--lots of buyers, no inventory--so I'm hoping this will be a quick process. My house is sparkling but I don't know how long we can maintain it, lol.

waitwhat I have a humidifier in his room going full blast. He was in my room but my master is big with vaulted ceilings so I thought it would be more concentrated in his room.
tgrimes1980 I have a bulb and a nose frida. Sometimes one works better than the other. I have been suctioning him out multiple times a day. He HATES it. It's always a battle. He scratched his face pretty bad this morning fighting me

Well after the initial wakeups last night, C slept until around 3. I gave him a bottle and he was wide awake and ready to play. But I put him back in his crib and turned on his stars and went back to bed. He fell back asleep eventually and woke up at 7:30.
Today we have his ultrasound for his head. H was going to try to leave work early and come but he's really busy right now. We won't be getting results on the spot anyway so probably not worth it.
A pediatric ERdoctor on N13 says most of the time you're probably not using enough saline. Don't waterboard him or anything but you probably need more than what you're doing. Sing a silly song to let the saline absorb, then suck it all out.
If he fights you I'd "sit" on him.
Nise frida should pay me for advertising, as much as I rave about them...
Ok, thanks for the advice. I normally just do a quick shot of saline then immediately try and suck it out. I will try more and to wait longer next time.

And if you can (and aren't doing this already) try and prop him up or have your H/someone hold him upright (vs lying down). Gravity helps, too.
starbuck27 is the Sorrento their minivan? We're going to have to get a new car in the next year so I'm gathering all feedback and research. Undecided btween regular SUV, 3 row SUV, or a minivan.
So E has a nice little cold with congestion, runny nose , and sneezing. And to top it off , she seems to be having a reaction from her shots yesterday as she's had 3 wet poops today! So we are now working on nap #2 in my lap because she can't lay flat comfortably. I'm getting a lot of reading done using my phone flashlight. Haha
Will be thinking about you and C today goldenlove3!
I had to bring O by myself to an US for his hips when he was a baby. It was a lot of walking around to different check ins at the hospital but generally my H didn't need to be there.

Yea.. I'm bringing his stroller because I won't be able to lug him around in the car seat. Luckily radiology is right by the entrance but it's the walk from the parking lot that will be killer.
I think my kids are slowly trying to kill me. L has been waking up 1 more time each night. A week ago she woke up twice, now we're up to 8 times last night. Nothing but nursing helped. DS had another febrile seizure when H picked him up from daycare. He's been miserable since then, so I'm at home today with him. He was up from 3-5am this morning so no one got much sleep last night. The only good thing to come out of this is that DS refused to be put down, so while holding him this morning I showed him the steps to make my coffee (keurig). The second cup he did on his own. At least my kid can now make my coffee for me. Yawn.
Hugs, tjanca22. waitwhat did that nap ever happen for you? I'm guessing not
I'm currently rocking my sleeping baby. She is so tired but wouldn't stay asleep in her crib so I'm holding her. I can't remember the last time I did this. She seems mildly under the weather today and, like I said, is obviously tired so I want her to get a nap. Plus I really don't mind
DS is also still napping after going down at 3. I should go wake him up probably. We're supposed to be meeting two of my friends and their 2-year olds for dinner in 15 minutes at a place that's 20 minutes away. Whoops.

Ladies - so sorry for the long absence. I went back to work last week and I am just getting my ass kicked between work, inadequate amount of childcare ("working" from home 3 days a week for the next two weeks since both my mom and nanny are on vacation), and the 4 month sleep regression. I might as well just stick an IV of coffee in myself for as much as I'm needing to get through the days right now.
tgrimes1980 - feel better soon! If you think you might have a clog have you tried dangle feeding? I tried to catch up on the last few days. Looks like you are maybe trying to wean so maybe not something you want to try - but the only thing that gets clogs out for me. Ugh mastitis sucks.
Sooooooo not ready for teething yet but I think DS2 might be starting. So drooling and crabby plus gumming everything in sight.
Post by goldenlove3 on Mar 16, 2017 17:52:47 GMT -5
I forgot to ask about teething at my appointment. She didn't mention anything. He does drool a lot and likes to chew on things but who knows. I can't really tell if anything is happening.
dashook I let C take a nap in my arms today for the first time in forever. I figured his naps are usually only 45 minutes long anyway, I can watch a show while he's sleeping. Yea, he slept for 2 hours. Probably would have slept longer if I didn't finally put him down so I could pee.
So, I sat in traffic and finally made it to the restaurant at 6:20. We stayed maybe 8 minutes. D completely melted down and I have NO idea why. Just really upset crying, and it was a small place so I was getting looks left and right.
I took her outside and she stopped after a minute but immediately started again once back inside. Stopped for maybe 20 seconds when I offered her the boob then lost it again and wouldn't nurse. So we left. I'm so fucking angry you guys and I cried most of the way home.
Of course she hasn't made a peep since we left. It's like she knows she's in disgrace or something. She's just sitting in the playroom in her carseat, wide awake and being totally quiet while DS and I are in the dining room having dinner.
Once they're in bed I can run away, right? They'll be fine, won't they, if they're just sleeping?
tgrimes1980 I'm so happy to hear YH is also giving a hand with MOTN! Hopefully your boob is better soon so you can thoroughly enjoy some down time.
dashook So many sorries 😞😞 Adeline is almost impossible to take out, something about the lights and people and noise - she absolutely hates it!! She will scream and scream until I remove her. I really hope she adjusts at some point, but she's very sensitive. Between your stroller group and this, re you thinking these are one-offs or is it starting to feel like D is like that too??
cookswithwine9 Poor O and poor momma!! Geez I hope you guys feel better soon.
tjanca22 Teaching your DS to make you a cup of coffee is pure genius. I hope you survive!!
starbuck27 No visible cutting teeth yet, but if I was a betting woman I'd say they are both prime for it. Aside from the wanting to chew on hard things, drooling, and crying out - I see white/almost inflamed looking sections on their gums and if I go to touch their gums they chomp down and want to chew my finger.
LizInFL I can't even imagine the work you have cut out for yourself getting the house ready... Oy. We are still doing lots of things here and there and I feel like house stuff is never ending!!
Ooo ya cluster o'clock over here. I've sent H to retrieve cookies for me.
They wer doing this the past three/four nights... Literally every 30 mins to 1 hr. Just like .5 oz snack and that's it. Lol. Mom is tired. Dad too. Babies, not so much.
Explain this to me like I'm 8. What do I do with the toothbrush?
Just turn it on and put the handle on your boob and let it vibrate over the hard spot. I've heard a lot of people swear by it (W always dislodged mine).
I guess a vibrator would work, too.
ETA: Leave it on you and vibrating while you pump. Just to be extra clear.
Yes! Make kind of a circle motion with it around the lump and then can also try to push the lump (using the toothbrush) toward your nipple. Having about 4 hands is extra helpful for this LOL.
Every time I go to post the past couple days a baby cries, it's like they know!
My babies still don't like sleep. Except maybe we're turning a page tonight? Maybe?
I'm still transitioning AV "off" me and out of the RnP onto flat surface sleeping. This has been a long slow journey and every time she either makes progress she then regresses, or got sick, so.
Uaually she gets laid flat in PnP or middle of the bed for her first lay down and then usually wakes up within 20-30 mins and then I have to re-rock and lay down with her so she'll stay asleep longer than 30 minutes.
So I laid her down for sleep at 7:30. It's 8:55p and she's either resettled herself or stayed sleeping. I'm sitting here wth only ambient lighting from the sound machine. I should be sleeping but I'm not.
Also, apparently she knows exactly how to find her paci and put it in her mouth MOTN because I watched her do it in the middle of the night last night! She can't do it during the day, what gives?! Or is it just bc mommy comes to the rescue that she doesn't even try.
kleigh please sent AV to teach mine to re-paci themselves? I have joked to MH about duct-taping them in.
Eta: I must be out of it to have posted H's name
The pacifier re-insert has got to be the single most trying aspect of parenting for me. Like, justkeepitinyourdamnmouth is it that difficult really?! Lol

Edit spelling
YES!
Hey, do yours cry in slow traffic and at red lights, too? Mine sometimes just start screaming until you get moving again. As soon as you gas, they stop. There's too much traffic in ATL for this nonsense.
Lol... They cry non. stop. Or so it feels. The only way car rides work for us is if MH sits in between the two of them and reinserts pacis. Then we can get 20 minutes without crying lol. But let's say they do happen to fall asleep in the car, YES they will actually wake up if the light is too long or I have to stop for gas or something lol.
Sorry dashook. That is rough. Is it possible she was overtired? J gets like that when he's exhausted. He doesn't want anything but to sleep and fights it tooth and nail.
You'd think so, right? But I don't think that was actually the case because she had a long nap before we left, enough that she didn't even snooze in the car on the way there, or on the way home. And then when we got home she was fine. I'm at a loss. I feel like Jon Snow.

I found that the wubba paci seems to work a little better. At least if he opens his mouth, it doesn't fall out since it's laying in his chest. He is able to grab it and reinsert pretty easy too. I only started using it at night recently though because I was worried it might be a choking hazard but now I've seen how he can handle it.
