When I had my appendectomy, I wore my pj pants under the hospital gown, I just like having something on my butt. I'm sure it will be different after vaginal birth or c section. I just don't know what I'll want and I don't want to rely on H to find what I need at home lol.
I'd be the same way. I'd rather overpack than under. As long as you can fit it all in a bag, I'd just bring a bit much so you have options (within reason). (I'm speaking as someone with exactly zero experience. I've actually never stayed in a hospital overnight except for at my own birth, ha!)
Yeah until my appendectomy last year I hadn't been in a hospital as a patient since I was 9 months old. I kind of had a feeling something was going to be wrong so before I left the house I put a pair of PJ pants, top, socks, and my baby blanket folded on my bed so if I had to stay, H could grab those things and my phone charger to bring to the hospital. I used all of those things in the 12 hours I was in the hospital.
I did pack a very comfy black robe that I'm excited to wear. I don't own any nursing pjs so maybe I should look into those...I've never been a night gown person though. I like having material between my thighs so maybe I'll be a nursing tank and yoga pants mom....
I don't have any nursing jams either yet. Let me know if you find some good ones. I've specifically been looking for some nightgowns with easy boob access for MOTN feedings.
Edit: I'm looking for both nightgown and tank/pant options.
I do like the motherhood nursing tanks that I bought during their $5 sale. I wear them now under my work clothes because I like the length.

I'll have to try these. Will be watching for the next sale.

These are the sleep tops/nighties that I have. I had two of each. They're both "bump in the night" brand I'm pretty sure I got them at destination maternity.
I added a few more things to my hospital bag and now I feel like I need to go back and read the threads and watch more YouTube videos. Do we think 4 pairs of yoga pants is too much? 3 crappy old pairs and 1 newer pair of maternity yoga pants....
I brought two, wore a third in, and only wore one pair while there (wore the same ones out that I wore in).. but I'm also super sensitive to feeling wet so I changed my pads ridiculously often (like, they were less than half full and changed). I'd do 2-3, max. I had him Monday early afternoon, was able to shower Tuesday morning when I got dressed for the first time, and discharged midday Wednesday
TTC since July 2014. CP March 2015. IVF #1 March 2016, 5R, 3M, 2F with ICSI. Transferred 2 on day 3. CP. Surprise BFP and then CP August 2016 (prep cycle for IVF). IVF #2: zero eggs retrieved IVF #3: 6R, 5M, 5F, 3 (2 8A and 1 11A) transferred, one "B" graded embryo frozen on day 5. BFP (at home 7dp3dt, confirmed 14dp3dt with 1552 beta) and U/S at 5w5d, 2 sacs and 2 yolks!

I really think hospital bags are personal preference. I didn't touch probably 75% of what I packed. I wore my hospital gown the whole time. But if I hadn't gone through a full labor only to need a c-section, maybe I would have wanted to wear my pjs or yoga pants.(in that case 4 pairs might not have been overkill if I wanted to wear my own stuff)
What I regretted NOT packing:
- snacks (I didn't realize how hungry I'd get nursing and had nothing at night to eat, the nurses were able to get me some stuff, but I would have preferred my own).
-an extension cord. I had my phone charger. But all of the outlets near me were being used and my cord wasn't long enough to reach.
