Crazy rollarcoaster of an afternoon. The daycare called me and said 1 of O's balls was swollen and purple! I left work got him to the ped who told us to go to the ER. The peds at the ER examined him, took ultrasounds and told us he has an inguinal hernia! And it will require surgery to repair! It's outpatient surgery but they do have to put him under and I'm freaking out. I have to call in the morning to get the surgery scheduled.

ETA: any experience w hernias and babies?
Wow! What a scare. I am glad the daycare caught it. I hope the procedure goes well and is quick.

cookswithwine9, I'm so sorry you have to deal with that! I know it's not exactly the same, but my brother scooted himself around so much as a baby that he gave himself an umbilical hernia around the same age. My mom said he whole ordeal was significantly harder on her and barely phased him at all.
cookswithwine9, hugs! That sounds scary, but thank goodness your DC was heads up on it. Keep us posted. Hopefully the whole process will be really quick and easy on all involved. I'm sorry you have to go through it at all though.

Thank you all! What the ER ped explained was that when his testicles descended into the scrotum the canal never closed. Therefore, his intestines are going through the hole and into his scrotum. Which is causing the swelling and discoloration. This was likely discovered now due to him coughing a lot after being sick. He showed me how to push them back up and I have already had to do it once I'm calling to schedule the surgery in the morning. Thank you again for your concern. I'll keep y'all posted.
Today was very nice, just exhausting. D did great at her checkup and so far seems to have not even noticed the shots. She's also enormous; I need to remember to update the 4 month thread tomorrow
The party was good too! My playroom is still in a state of ruin but the rest of the house is remarkably okay. DS ate nothing but a handful of sweet potato chunks and some ice cream cake for dinner so tomorrow should be interesting.
