For anyone who does end up needing to avoid allergens while BFing, this was one of my favorite meals while I was avoiding dairy, soy, and wheat while nursing DS (his issue turned out to be wheat). It also freezes well and is light enough to eat during the summer with some avocado on it.
i often use gallon sized bags for meal prep (i like to do as much as i can the night before after DD goes to bed, so i can give her more of my attention when i get home from work. so i chop veggies, meat, prepare sauces, etc. the night before) and i use the bag stand thing every day. i just ordered several more to use for freezer meal prep.

Yes! Good idea. We buy the refrigerated Perdue ones and I think they can be frozen. Definitely a good idea for my picky eater, thanks for the reminder!
i made meatloaf for dinner on tuesday, and made 11 more in a muffin tin (one of which i dropped down the kitchen sink while removing from muffin tin, so make that 10) for my first freezer meal! marshian i tried the straw thing and i couldn't believe how much air i got out! it might be a little early, but i want to start making extras of what i'm already making to freeze so it's not a huge production. maybe if i re-organize my freezer this weekend and put all this stuff in the very back it'll be okay?
agm04 , here's the Real Simple shelf life table for frozen stuff. I have the hard copy taped on the inside of a cabinet and I think it's pretty accurate!

I'm a little late to the party, sorry.
Last time I ended up not being able to eat anything I froze because dairy. So I'm going all dairy free this time, just in case.
Last time: Lasagna (cooked in large dish, but frozen in 4 serving portions) grits and sausage breakfast casserole a yummy chicken/spinach/mushroom dish i don't know the exact name of (I have the recipe if anyone wants it though) mashed potatoes meatballs & sauce
This time I'm thinking (all dairy free): Meatballs and sauce or meat sauce Stir fry (without sauce, add that after) burritos italian chicken (crock pot dish)
I probably won't do too much in advance as I'll have my MIL around for a few weeks after. We will probably just make extra of several meals while she is around and freeze them for later.
i have to put some serious thought into this, but i can tell you what i did last time.
- meatloaf made in muffin tins (so it was really easy to defrost as much as we needed) - done - meatballs and sauce - so good, one we always looked forward to! - done - chili - probably not doing since summer - crock pot pulled pork (pre-cooked and frozen in 2-4 serving containers) - in the crock pot today, will freeze tonight. - greek yogurt chicken salad - would not freeze again - not doing - chicken spaghetti - not doing - chicken tortilla soup - not doing
want to add this time: - a bunch of ready-to-throw-in-the-crockpot meals, so they feel fresh. figure it may help me ease back into cooking when i'm ready, too. - muffins - blueberry and banana walnut done - lactation cookies - probably wishful thinking but i really want to make these in early labor - banana bread - 2 mini loaves frozen - taco meat (already cooked)
the big question for me is dairy or no dairy? i had to cut it out with DD, which meant i couldn't eat many of my freezer meals. it was a bummer. now that i have 3 other people to feed (DD, DH au pair), it would still be nice to have some meals on hand for them, but i'll probably just skip dairy this time just in case. limits the options a bit, but oh well.
