Lol kleigh! That's so going to be me 3 weeks from today, my first Monday back.
Speaking of work I need to do some today. It'll be a little weird to have my laptop out and all, but I want to get up to speed on a few things so that my first days back can be somewhat productive as opposed to utter chaos of trying to figure out what has been going on in these cases for the past 4+ months.
Morning! B has a speech check-in today and then I have no clue what else we'll do. Probably grocery store and the playground, since it's so nice out.
Right now I have both kids parked watching Paw Patrol while I drink coffee and try to kick a headache.
I asked DH a couple times last week and this weekend if he could get the jumperoo down from the attic. Monday morning--no jumperoo. C has about outgrown her bouncer seat and now that we're done with house showings, I want something else to contain her in when necessary.
Hi, Monday. We had a rough night. J just couldn't figure it out. I'm really hoping it's just a one time thing and not our new norm. It's going to be 60 today but rainy. I would love to get a walk in if I can. We all have a bit of cabin fever I think so getting some fresh air would be good. I have a new recipe I'm trying in the crockpot tonight so I pretty much can't wait until dinner.

I'm struggling hard right now with my maternity leave wrapping up. I haven't randomly burst into tears like this since we were TTC. I just want to sit on the couch and hold him for the next 2 days but I have so much to do like getting my wardrobe ready and getting things together for the grandmas houses. I'm not sure how to even go about food since we've been doing solids. I know there's going to be a learning curve but it's all overwhelming.
danib hopefully H can still come home on Friday and hopefully the doc can give you something for the cough.
goldenlove3 going back to work is tough and overwhelming and the first few days are the worst, but know that it's gets better each day and eventually becomes the norm. What can we help answer about food? I had to send food for DS when we were with our old sitter? I'm going to have to see what DC says about food since we're at a new place and L will be starting food in he next few months as well.
danib - 2 feet of snow?! Yikes! I hope the forecast changes and your H can get home on time.
I'm skeptical of overnight oats but chocolate milk might be a game changer waitwhat
I'm glad you found some humor in the drunken voicemails kleigh
Hugs goldenlove3. Going back to work sucks no matter how much time you are off. You'll figure it out.
I'm watching The Good Dinosaur with DS1. This movie is so weird. C went to daycare today. I miss him but it's nice to have a day with DS1, even if it for a sick day. He seems to be feeling better today. I might take him for a haircut after his nap if he remains symptom free.

tjanca22 I've been making his food via the ice cube method so he gets one cube of carrots for example and I'll add cereal and water/formula to get a good consistency. I was already planning to leave cereal at each house but what do I do about the food? Just send the ice cubes? Maybe it is simple as that and I'm worried about nothing. Or maybe I should just buy food to keep at their houses. I think it's harder now while we're still trying new foods one by one and figuring out how much he needs.

I would leave some cereal at their houses. Â At night, take whatever cubes out of the freezer and put them in a small tupperware thing so it will be defrosted by the time they need to use it. Â Depending on the size, you might be able to take it out in the morning.
With M, i just mixed the cereal/oatmeal with whatever fruit or vegetable at night and they would heat it up at daycare. Â
Thanks. I've been microwaving for 20-30 seconds and it melts just enough without getting too hot. So I can probably just take them out in the morning and put them in his covered bowls. I have no idea what time he'll be eating. Right now it's more of a lunch because of the way his morning routine is but we'll be starting the day 2 hours earlier now.

That works. Â It's all trial and error at this point. Â Some people will nurse/bottle feed and then offer solids an hour later. Â Some will offer solids right after nursing/bottle feeding. Â Eventually you'll be offering solids more times throughout the day.
ETA: Also, they'll be able to tell you if they think he wants more or is still hungry and you can adjust accordingly. Â
This is part of my anxiety. I hate the idea of not personally knowing how his day is going and not knowing how much or how often he's eating/pooping/sleeping. I need to learn how to let go of this a little.

I get hung up on this as well. Going back to work is so hard for multiple reasons, but it does eventually get easier. You'll all settle into a new routine and things will get easier.
Can you be too boring for a baby? My mom says we're boring for a baby!?! How is that possible? When we take L out, he sleeps like crap that night, doing nothing means no naps!?! I have till April 2nd before he can go to child watch at the YMCA.
danib, hope you feel better! Fx it's not an infection! waitwhat, +1 to not liking my oatmeal cold!
jubilantsquirrel and goldenlove3 Don't ever feel bad about asking a million times a day!! Or asking them to keep track! They were parents of infants too, they get it!!! And I bet at some point you'll just naturally ease off anyway.

My daycare keeps a record of naps, how much they ate, when they ate and diapers. Â Would they be willing to do that for you?
+1 my neighbor does it for me too and sends updates throughout the day
kleigh yes, we sold the house in 4 days...which is great except that the people whose offer we accepted (we got 2) needed to close by the end of April 😳We compromised on May 1. Cue panic.
waitwhat Been there, girl. I went nuclear 2 or 3 times in the last few weeks, mostly directed at B. Fortunately he seems to still love me. I hate losing my temper but I also hate the natural inclinations of the threenager.
danib I hope your H makes it home on time; FX the doctor can give you something to knock out whatever you have.
We just dropped some of B's things at the kids consignment store and I got a decent bit of cash, so I'm happy. I could've made even more but I'm saving the best stuff (IMO) for my sister and her eventual babies. I'm sure bc I'm doing this she'll have all girls!
Sorry to post and run goldenlove3! I think leaving cereal at their houses is a good idea and sending a thawed cube a day is what I'd do.
If you want to be the one to feed him table food, could you just feed him at your dinner time or just at breakfast, if you have the time? I know this will only work for the short term until he's eating consistently, but then you will have a better idea of how much he's eating at that point. Our sitter for DS actually preferred that we tried all new foods at home so she wouldn't have to worry any any reactions which was fine with us! He only ate food once a day for a while so it was nice that it was only with us. Could your mom fill out a daily sheet for him? I'm sure you could find something on google or Pinterest. I could take a picture of our daily sheet we get from daycare too. At least then you know what his day was like!

tgrimes1980 I haven't asked but I'm sure they would. They always give me a summary of his day when they watch him so it would probably be easier for them to just write it down.
kleigh I'm definitely going to be asking for updates often! And I think once he falls into a more consistent schedule, it'll be easier to let go more.
tjanca22 I definitely want to be the one trying things for the first time. Both for watching for an allergic reaction and also to see his face when he tries something new. He'll most likely do breakfast there then dinner with us at home. Then lunch there when he starts eating more.
Thanks starbuck27. That's a good idea to just give them a freezer stash too. It does help to know that formula is still his primary food so we have time to figure everything out as we go.

Only 4 more minutes of work!
Both boys have their well checks today. Four months for DS2 and 3 years for DS1. Their appointments are at the same time, so this should be interesting!
I posted this on N13 but just for laughs. Here is a conversation between my husband & M at dinner last night:
MH: M, what do you want to drink? Milk or water? M: I want wine.
You've taught her well. DS1 got really excited when we went down the beer aisle at Costco the other week. He just kept shouting "Beer, Daddy! Beer!!"
My DS loves beer, to the point that he tries to sneak sips if someone leaves their bottle/glass unattended. We have him a taste at some point thinking he'd find it bitter and not want anymore. Wrong!
He also loves to point out the big beer delivery trucks. I find it hilarious but disturbing that he can tell the difference b/n say, Budweiser and Coke trucks. He also points out armored $ vehicles and says we should get some money 😂
My baby girl just put herself to sleep. By laying down in the bedroom with sound machine and me cuddling her. She didn't want to be rocked.
Hold me.
It took her 40 minutes but not a peep, not so much as a gosh darn peep. She just laid there staring at me and the ceiling, rubbing my head and face and closing her eyes.
LizInFL that is hilarious! My DS also is a beer lover. He will walk around dipping his pacifier into people's glasses and then sucking the beer off of it 😂 I don't think he can distinguish brands though--that's impressive! kleigh woo hoo go AV!!!

Lol LizInFL. We did the same thing with Lillian. She loves beer. And coffee. And most things actually.
jubilantsquirrel Hope the appointments went well! We'll be doing something similar for Lillian's 2.5 yr check and Lilah's 6 month check. I know a lot of people don't do 2.5, but I figure why not since our dr office does them.
danib I hope the dr is right and you feel better tomorrow!
goldenlove3 Even at Lillian's age she doesn't always eat much. When she started solids, she sometimes ate a few ounces and sometimes just a bite or two. Now she has days where I swear she only eats one thing of fruit snacks and a bite of granola bar.
