Here's a pic of what I'm talking about. It's the back wall there that I want to put wallpaper on. But I'm thinking it might not be feasible. It does at least need a fresh coat of paint though.
I'm doing a picture frame gallery on the painted wall, I just need a couple more frames. Also against the wall, but not pictured, is a black cubby thing from Ikea. That dumb light fixture is one I want to replace with the Edison light.

Funny you should mention painting front doors kleigh, that's my spring to do list! I'm also unsure if I want to paint both sides or leave the interior white. I think it depends on the color door and also you're interior decor.
waitwhat The woman said her husband can also make us a bench! Would you go with that which would match the dining table, or go with a bench coordinated to match the dining chairs?
Also, I've always loved the look of two different style chairs at a dining table but have no clue how to pull it off (if we were to go that route). Like the heads of the table I think a slightly different design than the sides? Anyone here do that?

kleigh, I have a round dining table, but I love the look of different head chairs. I'm torn though. I think if you did a bench then all of your chairs should match (maybe the head chairs can have arm rests and the other chairs don't), but if you didn't do a bench then I think having different head chairs would look really nice. Like maybe have painted wooden chairs and then have the head chairs in a patterned fabric?
Ooo if we're talking about exterior, I'm going to ask for paint colors opinions for my shutters.
Whatsthe color of your house and material for lack of a better term. Is it shingles, lap, etc?
The whole damn house is white vinyl siding so pretty much any color would work. My front door is red which I kind of hate now but it's less than 2 years old so I don't feel like painting it. I'll post a picture soon.

waitwhat I'm leaning towards doing the primer and then taping over the grout so we end up with white grout and aqua tiles. I think is the most cost effective way to get what I want. I'm actually super excited about it. I wonder if DH would help me do it this weekend!
sophiegrace I think if it was a flat wall, I might be more inclined to do a peel and stick tile. My backsplash already sticks out about 1/4 inch from the wall and I don't really want to add on. ETA: Although...I might use some in my bathroom to jazz it up. It's soooo boring.
jubilantsquirrel I think that round light you posted before would look gorgeous in your entry. I might do either a slightly larger fixture or lower it a bit so it stands out more than what's there now.

ClassyMrsA, I couldn't find any examples of painted backsplashes with your tile design, but I did find this. Maybe something like this would work and you can do different shades of aqua?
jubilantsquirrel Stop with the wallpaper!!!!! That is the EXACT one MH picked out!!!!!!! You totally have my vision - and I had forgotten about Pier 1, I bet I can get some similar things between P1, PB, West Elm, Crate and Barrel, and Joss and Main.
I love arabesque tile for the backsplash and historically H has vetoed it however I think I can parlay a faux wallpaper dislike-turned-"fiiiiiiiine" move into getting him to agree to arabesque.

He has good taste! You're going to have to post pics once everything comes together!
Edited: chair not hair. Jubilant squirrels don't have gray hair obvi.
I found it on a Google image search. I went back and it looks like it was from Target but it's no longer available. It's a 30" Avington bar stool, I don't know if it's discontinued or out of stock. I did find these similar chairs also from Target.
Front yard question. We are working on the front yard next weekend. New plants, new mulch, etc. The front bed on the left I want to expand. Should I pull it down along the side walk so there's another rectangular bed along the sidewalk, have it curve down the the same point the right bed ends, or do a skinny border along the entire sidewalk with lights?
Here's my front yard.
Skinny border idea. It would come down from the left and across the front.

ClassyMrsA, the skinny boarder pic isn't showing up for some reason, but I vote for the curved expansion so that it lines up with the bed in the right better. I live for symmetry though.

I love symmetry, too. I fixed the skinny border light picture I think.

Our entire house is super neutral. We have a loft area on the second floor we would like to have as a family area. Would you guys keep the decor neutral and allow the toys that will eventually take over to add the color, or would you want to liven up the area to differentiate it from the regular living room?
Post by ClassyMrsA on Apr 11, 2017 21:49:57 GMT -5
Like a playroom sophiegrace? In ours we are going to put a neutral, but cleanable loveseat and I have black bookcases in there. I have children's prints and Lillian's art hung up and of course all of her big toys. I want to put up fun curtains, too.

waitwhat and ClassyMrsA it probably will become more of the playroom area. The big dogs aren't allowed upstairs so stuff won't get eaten and I won't have to worry about their hair and it's nice to hang up there in the afternoon because the sunshine death ray that goes through our regular living room misses the loft. Right now we have a fenced off area in the regular living room (to keep dogs away) that has her baby stuff in it, but between the hours of 2 and 5 you can't go near it. Plus the loft is just cozier and feels more homey. We have a tv up there already, couch/love seat, and IKEA storage shelf things. And it's carpeted instead of the hardwood that's downstairs. I can provide pictures if that makes it easier.
I love the idea of hanging up artwork and a chalkboard wall!!!
