Breastfeeding and Pumping Check-In - April !

It's going well for us. I've mostly weaned from the pump, and so he's weaned from BM during the workday. He gets WCM with his snacks. He's just starting to like it, and he's drink maybe 6 oz during the day sometimes. I'm so happy to be done pumping, it's really improved my productivity during the day. On weekdays we usually nurse in the morning, after work, and before bed. On the weekends we nurse on demand, but still usually not more than 4 times a day.

I'm have a long work trip coming up at the beginning of May - it'll end up being 2-2.5 weeks. I have just enough of a freezer stash to get through that, and I plan to pump in the morning and at night so that we can still nurse after that if he wants to. I'm hoping it all goes ok though; it'll definitely be the longest we've been apart. I think he and H may be able to come visit me during one of the weekends, so it'll be more like one week and one week. Still, it sounds like a long time...

@tinydance that's such a long time! I've never been away from my kids that long, but honestly I'd be happy for the break at this point. 😆
We were told I need to wean and intro wcm stat. Girlfriend weighs barely 17lbs and pedi is banking wcm will be more caloric than be at this point. I'm planning on continuing to nurse as desired, but give wcm at meals. Currently she sometimes gets water and we nurse prior to meals.

It's going nursery. I keep meaning to cut back and yet we are still nursing all the time. I feel like I nurse more than before.
Challenges-cutting back
Nursing 2-non stop during the day, 2-4 times per night. It seems like the less there is the more desperately she wants to nurse.
I gave away my pump and bottles.
She drinks WCM but does not love.
This week for the first time-I thought "I am done. Like really done. Let's get this done". I want day nursing over. I can take overnight if I could ditch the day.

Going fine. She still nurses quite a bit most days. Sometimes if we are busy it will be less. A typical day she probably nurses 6 times? And many times overnight.

I'm pretty much the opposite of kcrkcs - very over nursing at night, but find out daytime nursing pleasant. I would night wean her, but I'm so damn tired I don't have the energy. :/

kcrkcs - does she freak out if you turn her down for nursing? My dd2 is finally getting to the point where I can tell her she needs to wait for milk and she's usually fine with it. I just explain to her what I need to do and that I'll give her milk afterward. If I forget she definitely does not and will remind me.

We're still going. My supply is probably down due to FET hormones but she doesn't seem to care. During the week we usually nurse 2-3x a day (am, before bed and maybe after work depending on how late I am). On the weekends we're still NOD, probably 4-5x a day. I'm completely done pumping. She gets frozen milk when I'm gone. I'm nowhere near the end of my freezer stash. When we get close we'll introduce WCM. She's totally night weaned unless sick.

NellieOleson she does not like being turned down. She went through a clawing phase. She will also pull push and undo whatever is in her path to get to the boobs if I am not quick enough.

We are still nursing several times a day and once overnight. More during the day if I'm home. I'm not pumping anymore. She gets WCM with meals. I was trying bottles for before naps when I'm not here but she is pretty disinterested in that so I'm not going to make those anymore. I guess that means I can get rid of bottles now!

She somehow got in the habit over the last few weeks (months?) of digging her hand in my arm pit during nursing. It's driving me insane. Tonight I started verbally reacting with a loud "ow!" every time. She got soooo butt hurt but eventually got the picture and stopped doing it.

I want to try to wean her from her ~4am nursing session. I bring her to bed with me and she finishes the night there and pretty much nurses till wake up. But I'm not sure how to do that without creating an early wake up that I'm not prepared to deal with. If I nurse her she will sleep till after 6am sometimes till 7. If not, well...I'm scared to find out. 😳 So I'm not rocking the boat even though I'm ready to be done with that.

dizzycooks what about adding higher fat foods? Whole milk yogurt, avocados, etc? My DD hasn't been gaining since she started walking/running which is the same thing that happened with DS.

She eats all that. She eats like a horse actually. The concern is not gaining anymore now that she is walking. She's tiny! I'm willing to try and see if adding wcm helps. I'm not going to nurse her forever

Still nursing, but only when she gets home from DC, bedtime, and first thing in the morning.
Challenges: out of a desire not to stretch out my shirts, I take off my top and she's got this habit of grabbing the other nipple while nursing. It's getting to be too much.

Other posts about needing to feed them more has me curious. I was under the impression they would eat more frequently if they were hungry. My little one is 20lbs which is smaller, but she seems to have lots of energy and still not hungry enough to not throw food on the ground. Should I be worried about how much she's getting?

Positive thing: I cherish our time together.

No pumping, she never really drank a ton during the day (4oz), so it got phased out.

Is the W in WCM for warm ? I just give it cold.

Nighttime waking only happens maybe 2x/week, so not bad.
