The dog is acting so weird. He was shaking before and then I cleaned his ears (vet said he had the beginnings of an ear infection the other day) and he went outside. Now he's shaking and panting and just sitting and staring at us. He's even letting DH pet him and is licking his hand which he NEVER does because he doesn't really like DH (he was my dog before I met DH.) I don't know what to do with him. There is a 24 hour emergency vet here but it's so friggin expensive just to walk through the door and money is so tight right now. His regular vet opens at 8 tomorrow but I'm going to have anxiety all night now. When I was petting him I also noticed two lumps that I hadn't felt before. 😕
My dog has done this a handful of times recently. DH will usually walk her and she calms down. The first time I noticed it a few weeks ago she then took a massive diarrhea dump. Maybe your dog is just fighting something off?

Maybe because it came out of nowhere. He seemed totally fine when we were having dinner and putting the girls to bed and everything. I'm really hoping he can calm down enough to get some sleep. He drank water and ate some treats and a small handful of food a little while ago.

I wouldn't freak out yet. If he's still acting weird tomorrow and you're worried, just go to your vet.
Also, I want to commiserate on the work thing. DH works 12-hour overnight shifts so on days I take DS to daycare in the morning I get him there late and often don't make it to work until 9:30/10. Then I have to leave at 4 to pick him up. The life of an academic is inherently flexible and so nobody really cares about my hours in the office, but I do not have time to get done all the shit I need to do.
Dd just fought with me about putting her underwear on because she wanted to put it on downstairs. I said no, we're doing it here and she screamed no at me and stomped her feet. I sent her to her room.
We recovered from that, and now she's upset because I wouldn't let her hold her brother on the couch while I make her breakfast.
NJgirl84, I'm also the higher earner and the one with the more stable job and better benefits so I'd actually like to keep it. I guess it's just going to be a struggle until DH finds a new job and we can move closer.
Today is my last day at work, tomorrow is day 1 of maternity leave
I literally can't contain my excitement, and I actually enjoy my job. But sitting at home with my feet up sounds like the absolute best at this stage in my pregnancy.

I think dd1 is going through a growth spurt. Kid ate most of her dinner (had 3rds of chicken) and just now for breakfast are a piece of toast and is happily chowing down on Cheerios. Normally she will barely finish off a piece of toast.

DD is hitting a growth spurt too. Most of her jeans are on the verge of not fitting. I need summer to come so we can bust out the shorts and dresses. No more of this snow junk that we got this morning!
emmygirl, but ripped jeans is not a new trend, it's been around before so buzzfeed is being dumb
Exactly!
I was just thinking about the jeans that naturally had a hole in the knee in high school so I enlarged it. Literally my most favourite and comfortable jeans. No regrets at all.
emmagk, I think buzzfeed would have been better off saying the jeans with plastic windows in the knee are a bad trend. Or clear plastic shoes for that matter. Gag.

Does anyone do an E/I or special needs thread anymore?
Just found out this morning Jakob qualifies for an Autism Grant through Easter Seals! We will meet with them in the next few weeks to see what services will benefit him.

I'm super excited!
No thread. But a few of us have kids getting services from EI or other specialists and we chat about it occasionally.
DS pointed to the loft hatch yesterday and said "that's daddy's secret house". Wee boy ratted his dad out on how much time he's been spending hiding in the loft. Today, the secret is no more...
He was up there skulking about while I took the kids to soft play. Most mum's look forward to coming home to tea on the table or the washing started.
Apparently our city wide garage sales are this weekend. Despite the note I got in the mail yesterday saying they are at the end of May. My town really has it's shit together.
