Please let me know if I should delete or change any of the questions. I try to change some of them once in a while, but don't always know what I should ask instead.
What's new with baby (size, development)? Size of a Barbie convertible. Baby's bones are beginning to harden but will still remain soft enough at birth to accommodate the tight space of the birth canal. Baby's sexual organs are well developed now and producing hormones.
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Girl
Name? My top 4 include Scarlet, Cosette, Blair, and Stella. DH also likes Natalie and is apparently on board with the others (or most of them.)
Any upcoming appointments this week? Nothing this week. But am at bi-weekly appointments now.
Any new symptoms or changes? My bp was a little high at my last appointment. So I now have to leave a urine sample at every appointment. (My OBs office no longer requires samples with each appointment unless high bp, major swelling, headaches- all signs of pre-eclampsia.)
Rants/Raves/Questions?
What is the last thing you bought for baby? Some clothes at a rummage sale yesterday. Might pull the trigger and buy one of the outfits I posted earlier this week.
Did you do anything for yourself this week? I tried to get a pedicure yesterday. My mom and I got to the place at 9:01, they open at 9. There were 5 people ahead of us. We waiting for our turn and at 9:35ish the filled the foot tubs for us. At 10:20 we were still "soaking" our feet and NO ONE had come over to start. I finally go up because A) I had to pee, and B) I could sit still anymore. I also had told DH I would be home around 10:30 so he could go into work (he was home with C). I was so frustrated. When I got up and they saw me fix my pants they kept trying to tell me one lady was done and we were next. But that only freed up 1 staff member and there were 2 of us waiting to get them done together. It would have been close to noon before they finished. And after that time my water was not warm at all. It was something I had been looking forward to all week. So something I was hoping to relax me just stressed me out even more.
GTKY: What do you do for a living? SAHMs, what did you do before kids? Share as much or as little as you would like. SAHM now. Well for the most part. DH owns his own business and I do the book work for it. I go into the shop/office every Monday morning for a couple of hours while C plays at grandmas. I also do several hours worth of work at home during the week (usually while C naps.) C comes to the shop/office usually once a week for an hour or two. Before taking over the books for DHs business, I worked as an infant teacher at a daycare. Some days I miss it, some days I don't. I do miss talking with adults throughout the day. Some days the first/only adult I talk with is DH when he gets home at 6:30.

sabrinaml, my OB doesn't do routine urine samples and it was on my list of questions for next appt to ask why. My guess is that they are like yours and will only do it if concerned. Hope your BP and urine continue to be okay. Also, soooo annoying about the pedicure! You waited longer than I would have. I now go to a place where I can make an appt online because I hate waiting.

How far along are you? 30 weeks
What's new with baby (size, development)? Zucchini. Vision continuing to improve, languo starting to shed
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Boy
Name? We have a name. When DH and I talk about him, we still don't really refer to him by name. I don't know why. I call him by name when I talk to DD but it seems odd to do so when talking to DH
Any upcoming appointments this week? Nope
Any new symptoms or changes? This weekend my stomach as been hurting :/ like the top of my bump/under my ribs area. Not sure if I have a bit of a bug or what. It isn't constant, but it is definitely one more discomfort to add to the list. Also been super tired this week, though my ravenous appetite seems to have slowed down a bit.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Baby D keeps flipping around in my belly... Dude is going to run out of room and be stuck in breech :/ Could also be a possible explanation for my stomach discomfort... also, someone on Friday asked "any day now?" Ugh I wish but no, just huge.
What is the last thing you bought for baby? Diapers
Did you do anything for yourself this week? Not really. I've been so uncomfortable. By the time I get home from work I just want to sleep, and the weekends haven't been much better
GTKY: What do you do for a living? SAHMs, what did you do before kids? Share as much or as little as you would like. I'm a preschool teacher for 4 year olds. And a grad school student :/

sabrinaml your pedicure experience sounds ridiculous!! That would stress me out too.
applemuffins the under rib area has been hurting for me too, but my assumption is because the baby has been trying to shove his legs as far up into my ribcage as possible. At least, that's what it feels like. And +1 to super tired this week!
What's new with baby (size, development)? romaine lettuce
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Girl
Name? Charlotte, Ava, Adeline. DH keeps adding more names lol. Does anyone have any opinions??
Any upcoming appointments this week? Not this week, but next.
Any new symptoms or changes? Nothing new. VERY uncomfortable.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Just crazy uncomfortable at this point. Sleeping sucks, my whole body aches, heartburn is awful. Feeling overwhelmed lately and just want to hit 37 weeks so baby can come at any point!
What is the last thing you bought for baby? Nothing new. Probably will buy a box of diapers before she gets here and that's it
Did you do anything for yourself this week? DD and I went to see Beauty and The Beast. It was so much fun and she did great!
GTKY: What do you do for a living? SAHMs, what did you do before kids? Share as much or as little as you would like
I'm a SAHM, but a pretty recent one. I was an active duty army officer for 4.5 years before staying home. I had many different jobs while on active duty. I left the service because it was too hard on our family. DH was working long hours too and I was gone all the time. It was a difficult decision to leave and sometimes I worry that I should have stayed in for the money/job security, but I know it would have been too hard on our kids. I have a teaching degree and will most likely go back to work once the kids are in school. I think it all depends on the needs of our family at that time.
What's new with baby (size, development)? Foam finger, head of romaine lettuce, small clawed otter
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Boy
Name? Maybe William
Any upcoming appointments this week? Nothing this week. Biweekly appointments start next week.
Any new symptoms or changes? Sleep is starting to get uncomfortable
Rants/Raves/Questions? None
What is the last thing you bought for baby? Diapers
Did you do anything for yourself this week? no but I need to get a prenatal massage on the books soon
GTKY: What do you do for a living? SAHMs, what did you do before kids? Share as much or as little as you would like. I am the Operations Manager for a construction management firm
applemuffins i got my first "any day now" type comment yesterday at the park. this guy was like, "that baby is ready to come out!" uh, nope, i hope not. i got really upset over those comments when pregnant with DD, but this time i just thought it was dumb. if someone wants to make conversation, what's wrong with "congrats! when are you due?"
What's new with baby (size, development)? Size of a cantaloupe or platypus.
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Boy
Name? Eli.jah
Any upcoming appointments this week? I am going to try and see if I can get in with my doctor for a follow up on my blood sugars. Eating and exercise do not seem to be helping at all.
Any new symptoms or changes? Just so much heartburn!
Rants/Raves/Questions? We close on our house on Friday! We are moving Saturday, so I will feel like we are finally able to get ready to have a baby!!
What is the last thing you bought for baby? An outfit. H and I have a problem as everytime we go to the store, we come home with clothes or sockas of shoes or something! lol
Did you do anything for yourself this week? A lot of napping this weekend and I think that was a good plan. I feel so tired lately.
GTKY: What do you do for a living? SAHMs, what did you do before kids? Share as much or as little as you would like. I am a CPS social worker so my days are super busy and stressful and I bring work home at night. But my days are also super rewarding and I love my job most days. Love it because I can fix bad situations sometimes, not because it even has to exist.
sabrinaml - My MW's office does a urine sample at every appointment. My BP was a touch high last week compared to my normal, but just the top number. I told my MW it was an insanely stressful week at work and I am sure it was from that. She said even without the stress she wasn't concerned. I'm glad yours is watching just in case. WTF is up with that nail place?
applemuffins - Sorry your stomach/ribs hurt! My stomach has been off lately, and I think it's because it's getting squished more.
violetrose - Sorry for crappy sleep! Glad your DD enjoyed Beauty and the Beast! As for the names, another you could add: Aveline (almost a combo between Ava and Adeline). That was high on my list until we decided to go with a J or S name. I like all three of yours. Charlotte and Ava are very popular right now, if that's a consideration for you.
cateyes - Good luck with closing and moving! New homes are so exciting!
applemuffins i got my first "any day now" type comment yesterday at the park. this guy was like, "that baby is ready to come out!" uh, nope, i hope not. i got really upset over those comments when pregnant with DD, but this time i just thought it was dumb. if someone wants to make conversation, what's wrong with "congrats! when are you due?"
No kidding! There are so many things you can say which aren't prying or obnoxious.
As another data point, my OB doesn't do urine samples unless there's an issue.
How far along are you? 30 weeks today
What's new with baby (size, development)? I'll steal from cateyes since she's also 30 weeks - cantaloupe or platypus
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Not finding out
Name? TBD
Any upcoming appointments this week? Had my 30 week today. Preschool is closed for staff training so I had to take the day off with the kids. We went to the playground first so they burned off some energy and I brought books and snacks, and they did fine. I'm glad I don't have to bring them every time though.
Any new symptoms or changes? Just huge as usual. Otherwise feeling fine.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Rant - I'm ready for everyone in my family to be healthy again. We've had a pretty good winter health-wise but all of us are a little sick now. Rave - it has been fun to hang out with my kids on a weekday today.
What is the last thing you bought for baby? New infant seat. I replaced my Chicco Keyfit since the old one will expire while this baby still needs it.
Did you do anything for yourself this week? Went to Vegas for two nights, but it was with my 4-year-old. Traveling with one 4-year-old though is so easy compared to both kids.
GTKY: What do you do for a living? SAHMs, what did you do before kids? Share as much or as little as you would like - I'm an investment adviser for institutional clients like pension funds, foundations, and endowments.

violetrose, we loved Charlotte but aren't using it because a friend used it who lost the child so we just felt uneasy about it. Another friend has a daughter named Adeline and I think it's very pretty. As a teacher, think about if you care about how popular the name is if that matters to you. I feel like Ava and Charlotte are more popular than Addline.

How far along are you? 27+5 today
What's new with baby (size, development)? Supposedly baby is as long as an English Cucumber
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Boy
Name? We have a long list that we really need to start narrowing down. We won't finalize until he's born.
Any upcoming appointments this week? Tomorrow is my 28 week checkup, ultrasound to find out of the placenta has moved up (needed for VBAC), and my glucose test.
Any new symptoms or changes? I'm definitely getting out of breath more easily now, especially if I'm bending down a lot.
Rants/Raves/Questions? My son's swim instructor keeps saying "are you SURE you have 3 months left?!" with this horrified look on her face. It's kind of funny. I really like her and I know she's sympathetic. I would be pissed if it were most other people, but she's cool, so I just laugh.
What is the last thing you bought for baby? Um, I got a double stroller off Craigslist a couple of weeks ago (a city select!). I guess that's for both kids though. Otherwise, I have gotten a couple of big brother/little brother outfits. The only thing I have purchased exclusively for this baby is a pair of tiny baby Vans shoes. Just because. I'm waiting until I can get the completion discount from my registry to buy anything off it. No shower or anything this time around.
Did you do anything for yourself this week? I got a haircut!!!! It was so long overdue and it feels amazing. I cut about 6 inches off and got some highlights. Technically it was last week, but I'm counting it.
GTKY: What do you do for a living? SAHMs, what did you do before kids? Share as much or as little as you would like. I SAH now, but work part time doing marketing consulting for small businesses. My older son goes to daycare 2 days a week so I can do that. Before kids, I worked in marketing in the corporate world, mostly in the medical device industry. Those jobs require a ton of travel, so if I go back to full time employment, I'll have to find something else. Not sure what.
Fun fact about my job - I used to be the north american marketing manager for fetal monitoring for one of the biggest manufactures in the world. So I knew a stupid amount about fetal monitoring and such before having kids. It makes me a really bad patient.
What's new with baby (size, development)? Baby is the size of a head of romaine lettuce
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Don't know
Name? We will decide when baby is here.
Any upcoming appointments this week? Nope this is my off week
Any new symptoms or changes? Not really
Rants/Raves/Questions? I am sleeping so much better lately. I am loving it.
What is the last thing you bought for baby? I am not sure. We haven't bought much because we haven't had our showers or the completion code for the registry
Did you do anything for yourself this week? Yoga and a haircut!
Any new symptoms or changes? I fall asleep quickly but toss and turn for at least an hour without sleeping after one of my middle of the night pee trips.
Rants/raves/questions? We had a nice relaxing spring break last week (rave), but didn't get as much done as we would have liked (rant).
What is the last thing you bought for baby? Nothing lately. I think we have everything we need. I have been looking at sit and stand strollers though.
Did you do anything for yourself this week? Lots of just relaxing on the couch because I was on spring break!
brandiewine11 Do you like being hooked up to the monitor or do you prefer not to be because of what you know?
I can definitely see the benefit of it (like with my first son his heart rate was really concerning) but no, I didn't like being hooked up continually. I had to be continually monitored because I got cervidil with my first labor, which meant I was confined to either the bed or right nearby.
Continuous fetal monitoring has not been show to improve outcomes at all (vs. intermittent monitoring). The c-section rate has increase significantly since continuous monitoring has become the norm in the United States. It's not the normal protocol anywhere else in the world. And the rest of the world generally has lower c section rates and better outcomes.
I'd choose intermittent monitoring if given a choice this time (unless there is an issue that requires continuous).
I'm glad you asked, eucalyptus, and thanks for your opinion, brandiewine11. It's in our birth preferences to have no continuous fetal monitoring, so it's nice to have that reinforced by an expert

+1. Another big reason we chose a midwife. She even told us exactly what brandiewine11 said about the correlation between monitoring and c-sections.

Update: the placenta is moved up and baby is currently head down. As long as he stays that way and I go into labor at the appropriate time I'm good to try for a vbac! Phew.
What's new with baby (size, development)? Cantaloupe
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Boy
Name? Won't be decided for a while
Any upcoming appointments this week? Thursday for a regular appointment. I'm going in every two weeks now (I assume we all are) and it's so boring. Every appt is exactly the same and takes about 5 minutes, but I spend much longer waiting. The good news is they no longer take urine samples at every visit like they did two years ago. I remember wishing for some sort of funnel because the bigger my belly got the more awkward it became. It also makes it easier to bring DS along with that step eliminated.
Any new symptoms or changes? Same old.
Rants/Raves/Questions?
What is the last thing you bought for baby? Ordered a new infant car seat yesterday and it should arrive next week. Also got a new nursing pillow on the weekend.
Did you do anything for yourself this week? Had a girl's day in the city on Saturday. Got pedicures, watched a movie, went shopping, and didn't cook!
GTKY: What do you do for a living? SAHMs, what did you do before kids? Share as much or as little as you would like I consider myself a SAHM, but I also teach piano lessons two afternoons a week. Before DS was born I was an optometric assistant in addition to teaching piano.
28+3 Finally in the third trimester! Boy Trying to decide between Lincoln and Weston. I think we're going to wait til birth to decide. No appointments These last few days, I've had several times where I've felt "off". Not really sure how to describe it. It's almost like I've drank four redbulls or like I turned in circles like kids do except without the dizzy feeling. Diapers and wipes I have not. I even went to target and bought not a single thing for myself. It's unheard of! I'm now a sahm. My last job was scheduling for a mental health agency. I do have a degree as a medical assistant, but couldn't find a job that paid enough for me to leave the job I had.

+1. Another big reason we chose a midwife. She even told us exactly what brandiewine11 said about the correlation between monitoring and c-sections.
I had a midwife with DS and she was incredible. Also I agree on the monitoring. I've voiced my opinion about no continuos monitoring with our OB, but she kind of acted like I was crazy. She said it will all depend on how labor is going.
What's new with baby (size, development)? Pineapple/Barbie convertible. Baby is starting to put on healthy fat.
Boy/girl/not finding out/haven't found out yet? Surprise!
Name? H told me last night he looked at his list of names for the first time in a month or so and wasn't thrilled with any of them. Our goal is to share our lists with each other at the end of the month. I keep looking at mine every day or two and haven't changed any, so I think my preferences are set.
Any upcoming appointments this week? Next week
Any new symptoms or changes? Starting to have sleep trouble. It's harder to fall asleep either at the start or if I'm woken up in the middle of the night. This morning I woke up at 4am for no real reason and just felt off and couldn't go back to sleep.
Rants/Raves/Questions?
What is the last thing you bought for baby? We ordered the co-sleeper (Arm's Reach Ezee Mini) last week.
Did you do anything for yourself this week? Instead of working on some projects I want to finish before baby comes, I sat on the couch for an hour on Monday night and just watched my belly move. It is fascinating. I'm still doing my weekly tennis lessons. Need to go back to yoga class but I keep having a conflict that day (it's only offered once a week).
GTKY: What do you do for a living? SAHMs, what did you do before kids? Share as much or as little as you would like
I'm a consultant. Which is extremely vague. My family finds it difficult to explain what I do. It's hilarious hearing H tell people about my job. My company works with multiple clients across the U.S. to implement/fix business processes, technology solutions, change management, and program/project management. Employees change projects every now and then as they wind down. I've been on 5 clients and 6 projects in the past four years. I tend to find myself in a "business analyst" role, which means I'm understanding and documenting what the business users need from a new technology system and then working with the developers to get it built correctly. I usually end up saying I'm like a translator between the business and the technical teams.
