The monsters have always been great sleepers. Bedtime has been 7p with 6:30 ish wakeups for a long long time. But recently DS has been struggling, and it's really starting to wear on the whole family. Almost every night he either wakes up around 2-3 inconsolable OR he wakes up screaming for his pacifier at 5am. When it's 2-3 am, I've been offering him water which he chugs. When it's 5am, I am sprinting down the hallway to replace a paci before he wakes up too much or wakes his sister.
We tried pushing bedtime back 30 minutes- he sleeps a little later the next morning but is a disaster by 6pm, so we're basically alternating late one night and early the next which is not working. So I have 2 questions: 1) Is anyone leaving a sippy of water in the crib? Pros? Cons? 2) Anyone successfully convince an early riser to sleep in? Tell me your secrets!
Also, pretty sure we're going to wean from the pacifier this weekend. DS is driving me nuts and DDs top teeth have a pitch to them that is concerning to me

E is an early riser unfortunately and just does not need a lot of sleep. We went thru something similar where all of a sudden night wakings were back with a vengeance. Maybe just a leap or growth spurt? Hugs ❤️
Married DH 09/21/13 BCP 08/08-02/12, 01/13-08/14 Paragard 02/16-? TTC#1 August '14 1st BFP 3/9/15! EDD: 11/17/15 Emma Rose born 11/26/15 (Thanksgiving!)
I've been giving Z warm water before bed and first thing in the am for a few months now. I ran out of formula at one point a few months ago and knew she didn't need it anymore so gave her water instead. She was fine with it thankfully I'm also getting rid of her soother verrrrrry soon. She only uses it at bed but I still want it gone. Not excited to see her reaction though that's for sure.
She has been STTN since 5 months but the last 2 weeks she has started waking around 2am screaming bloody murder!!! I don't give her any water or anything, just comfort her and pray she goes back down. I feel like she might be having bad dreams? I don't know. It scared the absolute crap out of me the first time it happened as she has never done that! Maybe it's the current leap as well? I just hope it doesn't last.
dancerness, I really hope it's leap related and coming to an end soon. Just found out he has an ear infection, so that's not helping but it's an easy fix. He STTN last night though... who knows!

I don't have much advice about water. We still give DD a bottle before bed and she doesn't wake for water. She does wake for other shit though! We have had a rough couple of weeks and I think it's a little bit of illness, a little bit of molars and a lot a bit of leap 10.
DD is usually an early water and we haven't had much success on getting her to sleep later except for the odd morning where dh brings her in to cosleep at say 5. Like this am she fell back asleep in our bed until 7.
