Finally. MIL is coming to pick up H in a little bit. S and I will be running to the mall so I can get moisturizer at sephora. I plan to go to the zoo this afternoon.
J/k- I have to take DS for a hearing eval this afternoon because we're starting the process of getting him screened for speech. His pedi wanted his hearing tested as the first step.

Last day of daycare's "spring break" and hodgepodge childcare. Thank goodness. I really need to get back to productivity at work.
Stupid spring break.
Normally my ILs are able to help, bit they couldn't this week, so at least this has forced us to find some babysitters. I'm envisioning actual date nights in our future! As long as this girl today actually remembers to change DD's diaper. She didn't yesterday over the course of 4 hours. Fortunately no poop, but really?

trtlcrzy, they're so cute! Girls definitely get much cuter shoe options than boys.
Thanks! These ones are see kai run and they are cuter than the stride rite options they had. I like neutral for shoes and those are actually harder to find than you'd think. Maybe next time you'll have a girl and can get all the cute shoes

I hope it goes well. Is he not talking much?
He's talking but I feel like it's not very clear? I'm not really sure what I should expect of him at this age but I compare him to other kids his age, and even some younger than him, and he's harder to understand. DD1 was much more clear at this age, but I don't know if that's because she's a girl and they're generally more verbal or if she was advanced or if DS is actually behind. I figured it wouldn't hurt to get him screened and if they say he's fine, cool. If not, we can start getting him help early on before school.
I skipped spin this morning because Lu seemed tired early. I put her down for morning nap at 845 and she slept for 2 hours! And has been in a great mood since. We ran some errands, went to the Y, and then to McDonalds for playplace and lunch. We rarely go there but honestly the playplace is so nice and there are always nice kids there. I need to remember it for a rainy day option. And apparently, Lu loves nuggets. Who knew. Now it's nap time and relaxing time for C and I. I'm letting him skip naps lately and it makes bedtime SO much better... totally worth it.

We got C screened at 18mos because I felt like he was really behind. They said he wasn't and he definitely caught up, but I'm glad we did the screening. It's better to not wonder in the back of your mind if you should have done something. I hope it's informative and if he needs some extra help, I hope it works fast!

I totally get it. I actually had H screened a couple weeks ago. I understand about 85-90% of what she says but it seems like other people have a harder time. Plus there are some words she has a hard time with. The lady said that at her age you should be able to understand 75% of what they say (I think). I was told to bring her back around her birthday for a check to see if she would need speech then. ETA I was also comparing her to the other kids from her bmb and ones I know IRL and didn't think she was as clear.

DD1 picked out a pair of Iron man shoes today. Hahaha. She only had eyes for the 'boy's' section today. She wanted red car shoes but they only came in wider widths and she has narrow feet.

Yeah, that's why we're going ahead with it now- because I keep comparing. I know kids develop on their own timetable but I don't want to brush it off if it's an issue. H and M are around the same age, right? She was N13?
So story time: a couple of weeks ago, one of my friends from D13 posted a video on FB of her son singing a song. He sounded pretty similar to M, maybe a little more clear. Another woman that was on D13 (I think she posted on N13 at some point too) commented something along the lines of, "wow, my kid sounds so much more grown up than yours." It made me think, "First of all, rude. And second of all, maybe there's something wrong with my son?"

My mom bought DS baby bogs as she though it was still too cool out for him to be in rubber boots, even when I insisted he had wool socks and we could make liners. I didn't fight too hard, I will still have regular shoes and sandals to buy him in the next couple months plus there will be sandals for DD2. I think footwear is one our biggest expenses outfitting the kids since we've been blessed with hand me down clothes from another family.
I also bought DS some jogging pants from H & M since they're cut loose and I want him to have comfy pants after his surgery.
We gave the kids a snack before heading out and DD2 passed out while nursing. She woke up when I tried transferring her to stroller and by some miracle both babies stayed awake on the drive home!

Yep, N13. That is a very rude comment that person said. Now I want to know who it is.
This is the sheet I got from the evaluation. The highlighted ones are what H was having trouble with per the evaluator. Not sure if this is helpful or not.

Shoes are going to be a thing for us too. H had extra wide feet so I'm guessing the shoes I have from her aren't going to work for S.

EatsRitz, SS was evaluated for speech issues the year before kindergarten and has been doing speech therapy since then until this past February. He's now fully proficient. If you have any questions, let me know. It did SS a world of good and he thought he was just playing games the whole time.

trtlcrzy That sheet is helpful, thank you. It's good for me to see for DD1 too because she still can't say the r sound but it looks like that comes much later.
Went out and saw a play with my mom last night and then stayed overnight since she's much closer to my work. It was fun and I enjoyed having a bed all to myself and no crying child MOTN but I'm glad I'm home now.
I feel like I'm constantly exhausted and my cubicle is in a high traffic area so I can't go on my phone much at work

trtlcrzy that's too bad. Maybe they'll be less broad as she grows? I have some shoes from DD1 but I did end up throwing out all of her sandals, they were just so nasty at the end of the summer. Luckily none of my kids seem to have particularly wide or chunky feet (actually we had the opposite problem with DD1).
My mom can relate, I have orthopedic issues with my feet so none of my shoes could be passed to my sister.

They are now less wide and she can wear normal shoes, but all the ones from the first 2 1/2 years are probably not going to work.

MH told her to change her after an hour. When I got home (after four hours) she said she "just" changed her. I'm generally confused, but it's not a huge deal, so I'll roll with it. Last day today, afterall.

Hmm that could mean she only changed her once or she changed her multiple times including right before you got in so you'd know it wouldn't need to be done for a while.

I like neutral shoe options too but most of the girl ones are sparkly and/or bright pink/purple. Good girl shoes are definitely cuter than boys, when you can find them.
