Aww I love my lilliebaby but yeah I bet he is too little. I also have a JJ Cole agility and really like it for the littlest stage. I still use it around the house. it's basically a ktan but cheaper.
I didn't feel like I needed a lot at this age for summer. Just make sure you have sunscreen, you can use it at 6 months ( although I would ask for Monty given he is so tiny). Shade is still best so some hats are a good idea.
Swimwear make sure it has some spf protection and I recommend rash guards.
As for teething there is nothing drug wise I would recommend beyond Tylenol and ibuprofen. Oragel is not safe at this age and hylands teething tabs are dangerous. Ironically given they are homeopathic and that definition it should have nothing in it (yeah shouldn't do jack shit) but because there is no regulation it may actually have dangerous levels of deadly nightshade.... So you get nothing or it could be deadly. Some kiddos like the teething rings to chew on, ones you can keep in the fridge my daughter hated them.
@sarahwithanh I only use the Lillebaby so I'm no help there. Which one do you have though? I have the 6-in-1 and was able to put D in it at 11 days old--I think she was about 9 lbs by then?
For summer make sure you have a good hat and some sunscreen for baby. No specific product recs there, but I know they make hats with SPF 50 and I like those a lot. I also buy the rash guards with SPF for going to the beach.
I like to keep lightweight swaddle blankets on hand too to create shade.
Once the babies are sitting up confidently, a baby pool is very fun! DS loved his and I can't wait to put D in it this year.
Re: teething, I know a lot of babies that like to chomp on wet wash cloths. You can even freeze the wash cloth for extra chompiness.
DS loved the mesh feeders. They are a pain in the ass to clean for sure. But I'd put fruit (fresh or frozen) or ice cubes or breastmilk ice cubes in it and let him go nuts. I'm definitely going to do the same for D.

@sarahwithanh we had the same issue with the 6-in-1 and she just started tolerating it about two weeks ago when she hit a bigger size. She always preferred the Tula with newborn insert. I could go a few weeks without it so if you want to try it before spending all that money I'll ship it over for you to test drive.
The sassy terry teethers (without handle) are a big hit here. They have extra absorbent areas that stay frozen a bit longer that she loves.
She LOVES her owl winkel. Before she could handle it herself I would hold it for her and she would go to town on it. Still her favorite toy/teether. Bandana bibs for all the drool are almost too cute to handle.
This week I'll be looking into sunscreens because my girl has super sensitive skin and if it's anything like mine, which is looking to be the case, will probably burn easy. I also have some large brimmed hats, iswim is great and SPF 50 to protect her head.
For summer, I was completely distracted by adorable baby girl swimsuits to think about rash guards. So now I have 2 cute suits but no matching rash guards #fwp
Am I the only one who doesn't know what a rash guard is? They just look like swim shirts on the Carters website.
Yeah that's what it is. They are snug fitting and generally have spf ratings. It's just more body coverage than a typical swim suit or swim trunks for boys.
Those interested in sunscreens here is a screenshot of the top rated sunscreens on consumer reports. They actually test a large variety of sunscreens and look at longevity, actual SPF protection uva and uvb.
We use coppertone baby, hard to beat that price and efficacy. (And clearly none of us have sensitivities to it)
California baby and blue lizard carried a 44 and 42 respectively. If you have questions about a specific one I am happy to share if it's on their list.

I always thought they were called rash guards because surfers wore them and it kept chafing down when they were cruising on the boards out to the big waves

That's the type of thing I was going to look up aggiebug, thank you. Is that the app that shows you all the bad stuff in everyday products? If so, may I have the name of it?
Also, to clarify, sprays are a no no at this age, correct? Can I add another comma in there? Haha.

That is consumer reports. They test for safety and efficacy. I think you are talking about environmental women's group which is a bunch of BS to put honestly. They have a rating based on opinion and fear not science.
Fwiw here is a quote from their overall evaluation of sunscreens "In our tests over the years, so-called "natural" or mineral sunscreens—those that contain only titanium dioxide, zinc oxide or both as active ingredients—have tended to perform less well than those that have chemical active ingredients, such as avobenzone. None of the mineral sunscreens in our tests this year did well enough to make our list of recommendations"
Sprays are generally not recommended for everyone as they are hard to make sure you get a consistent coverage, and they are an inhalent risk. Clearly the inhaling is worse with babies and young kids.
Ok so I'm going to say something but if I'm wrong you guys let me know, ok.. Cause FTM over here.
@sarahwithanh Have you tried Monty facing inward and outward , or just one way?
We have two Boba wraps, a Baby Bjorn a friend gave me, and some old school carrier (Snuggli) that my neighbor gave me. Since I wasn't sure either baby would like any carrier I didn't want to invest in anything until I tried them out.
Adeline loved the Boba until she was about 9 lbs and aware enough to realize she was missing out on things and now she can't stand to face inward (Maybe you can wrap them facing out in the boba but I don't know how). Instead she LOVES the Snuggli but only out facing. I think it's ok to face them out now, right? She has 100% head control. So that, is a huge hit here.
Alec tolerated the boba but I couldn't get a proper fit/snugness without feeling like he was way too tight and he'd cry. He loves the baby bjorn and he loves the Snuggli and he does fine facing inward and outward.
Bandana bibs with teether on the bottom corner are a hit with both babies. Cold washcloths/bibs/burp cloths also.
At what point have you all/will you all start putting shoes on them?
Baby sunglasses? Any recommendations? Probably necessary for both but Adeline has these light blue eyes like momma and absolutely cannot take the slightest bit of sunshine in her direction.
Also recommendations on babys transition from bottle to sippy?
1) shoes. With DD, a January, I only put shoes once it became cold and moved to something with a very flexible but rubber sole once she started walking
2) sunglasses we got a pair from REI that have a soft strap that goes around the head. I think they are baby bandz I will check.
3) around 9 months we have DD soft nippled sippy cups with a little water in it and let her play with it at meal time. Slowly we added more water and gave it at more times throughout the day, making sure it never was enough to really fill her up or impact her eating. She picked it up quickly and once she was used to it, it was easy to give her milk that way.
We never gave BM in a sippy cup just whole cow's milk once she was one.
kleigh we went right to straw cups. Skipped the sippy altogether. Plan to do the same with J.
Oh. I apologize bc my FTM is showing. Are sippy cups and straw cups not the same? What am I doing people, I'm clueless here.
Yup different. Sippy cups are just a convenient transition cup and I know many people who skip them all together. The best straw cups are the cheap toss n go ones sold at most stores.

kleigh We put shoes on C for church on Sunday just because it was cute. I've heard it's not needed until they start walking. I might put them on here and there just so he gets used to them.
Sunglasses.. I bought the babiators after they were mentioned in the Easter basket thread. He wore them yesterday (you might have seen it on IG). My only issue is they seem like they might be a little too small for his big head. They stay on ok but they start to squeeze at his ears and slide forward. Still trying to decide if I'll keep them or try another brand.

Oh and we somehow got a package of sippy cups from our shower that say 4+months. I tried them with C a couple times just with a little water when he was eating food. He can get a little out but he just keeps biting at it. He did pick it up with both hands and put it straight into his mouth which I thought was impressive, he just couldn't figure it out after that.

kleigh check out the kellymom link aggiebug posted a little bit ago in the FOOD thread. If I'm reading it correctly this is a good time to let them do little practice sips like that just to play and learn. M does the same thing at my water bottles. Maybe tomorrow I'll put it up to her lips and see what happens?
kleigh I remember letting B have little sips from water bottles or my cup as a baby, I think it's fine. We'd also get some water in a straw and give it to him that way (you know, what you'd do as a kid in a restaurant and your parents would get mad at you for messing around )
Sunglasses--we had some Wayfarer-style from Carter's for B and they always did the trick. I discovered Babiators later and got both kids pairs for their Easter baskets. Also got C a pair from Gymboree to match her swimsuit, because cute.
Sippy/straw cup graveyard here, too. B loved his sippies and preferred them over straw cups, but they can hinder oral development as PPs said. All the SLPs I know say to not use sippies past early toddlerhood.

We used a weighted straw cup. DS1 liked to take the straws out of the toss and throw ones and then try and dump the water out. We used regular sippy cups a lot too, probably more than we should have.
Re: munchkin 360 cup, I just bought this cup for B... and it it took me a good hour to figure out how the damn thing worked. I was sort of embarrassed once I realized how simple it was. I had to find a YouTube video tutorial.
Also, maybe I'm misremembering but did someone ask about shoes?
When they're getting close to walking/first starting to walk, I loved a brand called Pedipeds. They have a great website but I've heard you can get them cheaper on zappos or Amazon. They're so well-made (B's still looked brand new by the time he outgrew them).
