I feel like a complete and total failure today. Last night M was up screaming from 8-11 and then 1-5am screaming her head off. She wanted to cluster feed and I have no milk, just colostrum coming in. Around 3am I broke down and spoon fed her 1/4 ounce of formula. I immediately regretted it as she was up for 2 hours with the hiccups afterwards. I finally got her down in the RNP at 5 am and she has been down for 4 hours. I know I need to wake to feed at this point and i probably should have done it an hour ago. 😬

Don't be so hard on yourself. Those first couple of days are the worst IMO. Do you have gripe water? That seems to help my girls hiccups.

I'm at my post partum appt. after I'm taking babies to visit Daddy's work. Hopefully they aren't fussy messes. Things get rough when I screw with their schedule.

Those first few days are really hard. Definitely don't feel bad if you need to supplement until your milk comes in. C would not latch for me at all so he was spoon fed in the beginning then I ended up pumping/supplementing after that.

My milk didn't come in until day 7. You have my sympathies. Hugs. You'll get through this.
Aside from normal wake ups were she wanted to eat or be rocked back to sleep, Ridley woke up at least a dozen times last night. But it was more funny/cute than anything. The first time I woke up because she was grabbing my nose. I looked at her, she laughed, then closed her eyes and she was back asleep. Then one time I woke up to her talking to herself, we smiled at each other, she closed her eyes and fell back asleep. All. Night. Long. Lol
So I gave my kid a pacifier. I'm just going to do all of the things I said I wouldn't
Fun fact, the MAM pacifiers perfectly pop into the holes of an oball. Ridley never liked pacifiers, always preferred to just suck on my boob forever, but since about 3-4 months? Maybe? She loved using them as chew toys. Still does.

I did all the things I said I wouldn't too. (Hug)
Fwiw my milk didn't come in until day 5 I believe. I ended up giving giving a little bit of formula in a dropper because he screamed so much the first couple of nights home.
I gave a pacifier on day 10 I think? My kid loves his pacifier. I'm going to take it away soon.
Also, we made it home in one piece. Yay! Flying wasn't awful. And I only got scolded by one person because I didn't remove my baby's socks and apparently I was supposed to?? 🤷🏻♀️

What? Why would you remove his socks? That person is dumb.

Glad you are home safe. 🙏🏼
We had a great time!! And now I think my travel fear is gone haha

Osw, if you want to avoid formula, you could try the Human Milk For Human Babies fb page. I was lucky enough to have a hospital that supplements with bm, and it made it so much easier on my guilt. Though she did have to use formula for two days until my milk came in and I could pump and supplement with my own pumped milk.
Also DS slept through the night! I was figuring he'd be all out of sorts after travel.
Does he ever usually sleep through the night? The one question I get asked the most is "does he sleep through the night?" He has never slept through the night. Just wondering if there is an end in sight or if some babies just don't STTN.
R has never sttn. She got sooooo much better when we started bed sharing, and just within the last couple days she's getting better again. She usually nurses at least 2-3 times a night. Sometimes more. And needs to be rocked back to sleep at least once or twice. But since we need share I don't have to get up and she doesn't have to wait for me and wake herself up more, so it never takes more than a couple minutes.

Not to burst your bubble, and I hope this is a new trend for you, but when we got home from our vacation a few months ago R slept soooo much that first day. She slept great overnight and the next day took 7 naps and went to bed early that night. But then she was back to her normal sleep self after that.

He first slept through the night at 7 months, around the time he became more interested in solids (no idea if this is actually connected).
Since then he has MOSTLY slept through the night usually 10-12 hours. Once every 4-6 weeks he goes through a leap/growth spurt/learning a new skill or he's just a baby being a baby and has some bad nights.
Once he started sleeping through the night more consistently I night weaned (with doctor permission since he was/is low weight). In hopes it would keep him from waking up expecting to be fed.
He MIGHT have started sleeping through sooner (I felt like a lot of our bmb had babies who did) except he was such low birthweight I was under doctors orders to wake and nurse every three hours until he was four months So I think waking up had become a habit.

I hope he just goes right back to his old routine 🙈
