Good morning! DH and I are going on our first date night tonight! My mom is going to babysit while we get dinner and see Beauty and the Beast. I'm so excited! But I hope I can actually stay awake for the movie. Our theater has recliners and I feel like that plus Disney music is a recipe for failure lol.

The movie was great. That's when my prodromal labor started was during "Be Our Guest" lol.

I had a frustrating morning with M. She didn't want to nurse in any position I put her in. She would play with my nipple and then get pissed off. My boobs are giant and rock hard so I wonder if she is just having trouble because of that.

That could definitely be it. Try pumping or expressing some and try again. Sometimes when it's too full it makes the nipple harder to latch onto.

I did not know this!
It's because when a baby latches they also pull in most of the areola, but when you're too full the areola gets tight and smaller babies aren't strong enough/experienced enough to overcome it.

You could also be so engorged that the milk is blocked and making her mad. In which case the only thing that works for me is reverse pressure softening.

Thank you! I swear, I know nothing about being a mom, but it's literally all I've wanted for years. I need to research more.
I got lucky and had a nurse/LC that came once a month throughout my pregnancy to teach me things, then once R was born came whenever I needed her. I learned so much from her! I still text her occasionally with questions and she comes over for weight checks and things. It's such a great resource!
When R was little, well, I think the last time she did it she was about 7 months, but she refused to nurse after I got a bath. Like, she would scream bloody murder even being close to me. It broke my heart every time. If I didn't smell like sweat and sour milk she wanted nothing to do with me. It started when we were still in the hospital after I got my first shower. I had to breastfeed with h's finger under her nose to distract from the soap smell.
I hope it's nice enough out today that I can break out the picnic blanket and we can hang out outside for a bit.
Oh, also, fun fact, assuming it's warm enough out, if you can't get your baby to stop crying, sometimes walking outside will help. I did it allllll the time with R. Still do when she gets fussy. It's like magic.

I'm going to shower as soon as she finishes feeding. Hopefully that will help. I just sterilized all of my breast pump parts so I might try to pump so others can feed her.
We're getting rid of R's exersaucer thing. I'm hoping I can get Blake to take it to Goodwill today. I think she only used it a dozen times. It just takes up so much room!
R was fussy when she woke up so I took her to the bathroom with me, but when we walked past the bedroom she saw h and got excited, so when I put her down she immediately went in there to pester him and wake him up. Lol. He totally deserves it for staying up so late.
I don't know what to make for lunch. I'm so hungry. I want a sub, but don't actually want to go anywhere. I haven't had a sub in sooo long since whenever we go out to eat R will also need something to eat and sandwich shops don't exactly have much kid friendly food. Ugh. I should really just plan ahead and bring something for her or something.
Ridley has been glued to h all day and it's cracking me up. He won't stop whining that he can't get anything done and I'm loving it. Like, this is what she does to me every single day. Get over it.
Omg, we have our windows open and all of a sudden something had completely overwhelmed the air and it stinks so bad. Like industrial adhesive or something. Ridley keeps coughing. H is closing the back windows where we think the smell is coming from (there's a junk yard back there) and all the air purifiers have kicked on full blast. Ugh.
😨 Ridley's last nap of the day and it only lasted 20 minutes. It's usually closer to 2 hours.
On the upside it's sunny and 55° out, so I think we'll take some snacks and toys outside and hang out out there for as long as we can manage. Get some sun and fresh air.
Oof that sun was hot! The neighbor girls have three baby chicks, so they brought them out to play and it was pretty funny watching Ridley around them. Hopefully the sun wore her out a bit and it'll be an easier bedtime since she barely napped and that usually leads to overtired awful bedtimes.
