I agree with the Easter comments. Everyone can celebrate how they see fit, but to jest at Jesus is not right. I realize as someone who isn't Christian it doesn't seem like a big deal, but to someone who is, it feels differently.
I'm much closer to atheist than Christian and thought the zombie Jesus stuff was weird and rude. Though I'm also not a fan of zombie anything or the whole popularity of zombie shows, etc.
Maybe my real up is I don't see the appeal of zombies or zombie fantasies. Other dystopian fantasy scenarios are way more interesting.
Thats where I'm at. Tag her or make a separate thread asking her to come check in. I'll remind her that I know all about her life and her golden Oreo eating kid and I care about her cat and want to hear about it .
Shitsngiggles and pistolpackinmama both were already parenting posters. They didn't leave here to post there. Also pistolpackinmama seemed to not really like it here- didn't jive well - so it's understandable. Everyone feels comfortable in their own corner of the internet and it may not be M14.

Don't ruin my only uo that anyone has ever commented on! I try really hard to think of stuff and I'm always a bit lame.

It's not really unpopular though. Tag her and say I think you should play here and I didn't like it when you said you didn't have anywhere else to go. I don't think there's anything wrong with what you're saying. You're right. It's not very nice what she said since we've been so nice to her all these years.
I clearly do not read the long threads on parenting. I go over there to check on short topic threads and add to them if I have direct experience but I have zero time for those long threads.
Susan0utLoud, then help me understand, truly. Do you not believe that Jesus or Lazarus were zombies? Ressurection or not, that's what a zombie is. Just like that Lazarus bee that science discovered. What about the churches with signs referring him as a zombie? Is that ok to mock their own religion?
Yes just like if a POC decides to use the n word, that's okay, but if a white person uses it, it's racist. That's not a double standard- that's literally how being offensive works. It's when you're the outsider and you're mocking the group/ using it intentionally and derogatory. This is not that hard. It would not be okay for me to mock muslims by joking about fasting during Ramadan.

I'm not Susan, but I don't think Zombies are real. I also think they are scary - like going to try to eat you type things. I also watch too much crap tv, so I'm probably misinformed by commercials of the walking dead (have never watched the show to be transparent). Also don't think it's okay for churches to mock their own religion - I wouldn't appreciate that if I saw it, but I'm not surprised it exists. ETA: I'm done eating lunch, so I'm sorry if I don't respond if you quote me. Not being rude on purpose.

I don't believe that Jesus was a zombie. A zombie, from what I understand is, a reanimated person, a shell of a person. No brains, no feelings. I believe Jesus rose from the dead. He showed himself to his disciples, he ate with them, he talked with them. Then he ascended into heaven. A zombie doesn't do that. The same goes for Lazarus. He was risen from the dead and then functioned as a normal human being, not a mindless zombie just roaming around.
I've never seen a church with a sign about zombies. To me that's different than you, a non-believer, referring to Jesus as a zombie. To me it falls into the category of "owning" a word. Like the N word.

I don't think they are real, but I also don't think resurrection is real. I just think zombie Jesus is way more fun than the traditional thinking.
I'm reading this as "I'm not a Christian. I just think mocking Christianity is more fun than being Christian."
I'm not totally anti matching. I very intentionally bought a sweater for 6 month old dd that looked just like a sweater I already owned. I thought it was funny. I unintentionally match my kids pretty often - ds and I are in orange today and we were all in blues and white on Easter. I'm cool with matching on special occasions - saw a Macy's add with mother and daughter in similar navy blue and white dresses and it was adorable. Dressing your toddler like a toddler and then dressing yourself also like a toddler - not cute. That's my line.

You think it's more fun, but several believers and non - believers have told you it's offensive. You are literally making fun of an aspect of our faith. We're not denying that there are things about Easter based in Paganism, nor are we telling you to believe a certain way. What we're saying is, you don't believe in Jesus or the concept of the Resurrection, fine, have fun with the bunnies and eggs, but to call him Zombie Jesus is offensive to those of us that do celebrate the Resurrection. And as mentioned, if a church does it, they own that, just like when a POC uses the N word - very different than white, blonde hair, light eyed me using the word.

LOL that this needs to be said.
+1 I don't see how anyone can think calling an entire religions savior a zombie as "fun" and "tongue in cheek" somehow makes it less offensive to the people in the religion. @whimsy you're real opinion is "I don't believe in Jesus and calling him Zombie Jesus delegitimizes the religion that I don't believe in and points out/ makes fun of the fact that the resurrection process is so far from reality that I cannot believe it."
I've not seen churches talking about Jesus as a zombie, but I'd guess it's not done in a mocking way but to try to extend appeal by relating it to popular culture. That's a bad move in my book, but it does happen a lot.
I am shaking my head that this needs discussed. Just own it. "Yeah I see how it can be offensive but I don't care." That's an actual uo.
I'm not around religious people irl, so I really did want to see how offensive it is, I don't want to lose friends here, I just had questions. And now I know. My Uo is that I celebrate zombie Jesus day. Talk amongst yourselves about those who deserted us for Parenting...
What does this even mean? How do you celebrate? What do you do and how is Jesus involved? I'm so confused. All I hear is "I like to make of people's beliefs. Move along now."
I have problem with saying someone coming back from the dead is an automatic zombie. There are people who are legally dead for sometimes up to a few minutes before they are recussitated. They aren't zommbies. They are people.

It means that in my definition, he was a zombie. You're dead, then rise again, that's a zombie to me. Others pointed out why that's not true for them. And I get that, makes perfect sense. As for what we do on Easter besides celebrating spring is watch the classic Jesus movies cause that's what the ILs do and that's about it for them.
Oh, so you really do just spend Easter making fun of and offending an entire group of people. I thought maybe I was misunderstanding.
It just seems like UO is an opportunity to see other perspectives and learn from them. Maybe change a behavior after you understand you have been offensive. That is not happening here.

We're talking dead for days though.
Yes, but going by your definition, whoever was dead and came back to life is a zombie.
As been said, we're fine with you not being a Christian. But you're taking something that is sacred to us and making fun of it. It's like someone wearing a yamulke for fun, or spitting on the Torah. We just want you to understand where we are coming from.
And we aren't about to chase you off, so don't worry there.
