We have a lot of dirt in our back yard right now due to ripping out garden beds, it's a pretty big patch and then our neighbor has some patches in his yard where he is trying to grow grass. It's impossible keeping him away from all that so the thought of him playing in all that with a tunic type thing on and no pants has me all 😱
But girls wear bathing suits, usually no pants, to the beach where there's a lot of dirt.
The beach is how I know I have sensory issues. As a child I would not step off the blanket or I would howl. I had to wear sneakers at the beach. I still hate sand anywhere in my suit - it drives me insane, as does sand on my towel/blanket. Just watching my kid sit in the sand and play gives me the squirms.
I like the beach still, I just hate sand in my britches.

I don't mind sand at the beach. It's the dirt and rock situation
Running is the worst way to spend any minute and I only run after the ice cream truck.
Boys and girls can play in dirt. They can wear or not wear whatever I don't care. Dress, diaper cover, diaper no cover, tunic, who cares.
I didn't know about kurtas or 13 reasons why until this thread.
@officedronette I will take your sour patch kids.
artificial bananas are the worst artificial flavor. A banana that is still very slightly green at the stalk is at the perfect level of sweetness and firmness, IMO.

No, false. Cherry is the worst.
I wouldn't say worst, but cherry flavor tastes absolutely nothing like real cherries. I can tolerate it though. Fake bananas taste awful.
I am completely perplexed by all you no-music runners.
I used to run music-less, even though long, long runs, but once I started listening to music I can never go back. It helps me get pumped up and into a rhythm. The last time I remember attempting a run with music or someone to talk to, I made it a couple blocks and just wasn't into it and turned around and went home.
I carried my phone and headphones with me on my last race, even though I was running with my mom, just so, on the off-chance we split apart, I would have music. I only ended up needing it the last mile because we were together and talking until then, but it was worth hauling my headphones 12 miles to have them for one.

Isn't running with music playing kind of dangerous? I always like to hear cars coming. But then again, I am always running where there are no sidewalks.

It is. I used to run with an ear bud in and the other out so I could still hear what was going on around me, but that got annoying trying to contain the other ear bud. I stopped using music all together when a girl I knew was attacked from behind while bending down to tie her shoes. Thankfully she out ran her attacker, but that did it for me. (This was many years ago when I lived in downtown Orlando) Tagging ncjulia12 so you know my, "why I don't use music".
That's so scary about your friend! Glad she was fast!
My mom and I sometimes plan out worst case scenarios while we run as a way to pass the time. Like, what our attack plan would be if a dog ran at us (which has happened), or how we would escape if a crazy person ran out of the woods at us.
Still taking my music though. I do do one earbud out in situations where I need to be aware.
I run with earbuds in but very low (when I run outside) for situation awareness/motivational reasons. I need my music.
I've also tried about four different swim music options, though as of five years ago, they were all kind of a pain in the ass with a fairly bulky casing. There is a company that waterproof iPod shuffles and I haven't tried that yet, which seems like it would have minimal drag.
The worst was having just one snippet of a song stuck in your head for a three hour practice. Woof. That's why I like tunes - it makes sure the song in your head changes frequently.
I also listen to music while skiing - again, low enough that I can hear the snow crunching under my skis and things around me, but I can hear the tunes. That was really helpful for me as I skied more challenging terrain as it kept me from overthinking it and just getting in the flow. (No, I was not listening to music when I broke my damn pelvis. I was just dehydrated from stomach flu, weak, and stupid stupid stupid once I lost my balance.)
@officedronette holy crap I forgot about that! I hope your pregnancy is very kind to you and your pelvis.
Everyone has reassured me it should be ok, so we shall see. My MFM even thinks a VBAC is a possibility if I want (I don't think I do? I dunno.). Problems for future office.
I'd spoiler details on a new show. Not everyone reads YA fiction.
Is this the UO?
I don't think so? I like YA fiction. Not everyone does. This particular one is a conversation now because of a very new show, so a YA book released 10 years so is not exactly something most people have had prior exposure to, to not include a spoiler.
