I'm jealous of y'all milk making abilities. I could only get 3-4 oz.
+1 I get more in the morning, but typically 20 min or so to get maybe 3-4 ounces. I'm lucky to get 12 oz while at work and the she gets one formula bottle if she's hungry at dc.
I leaked until at least 6m pp with S. When I worked full time and I pumped for H I would bring home anywhere from 15-22oz a day. I don't get the random crying baby let downs.

Pumping from set up to putting everything away was about 20-25. But I also was able to sit at my own desk while doing it, so I could still work. I also was a pretty heavy producer. At my height (baby EBF, no solids yet), I would just simply have to end my pumping session bc my collection bottles would be filled to the top. I also leaked the entire time I nursed. =/
My FFWC is brought to you by the airplane car seat thread that was bumped. I don't think a car seat is necessary on an airplane. I mean, if it's going to crash, I'm pretty sure the car seat won't protect them. I understand there could be bad turbulence, but if they're buckled in the seat they're sitting in, I think they're fine.
I never once used a car seat on a plane. When S was really little he was on my lap while flying, then as he got older I got him his own seat but no car seat. I thought he would be better on his own so he could move around during the flight. I did borrow the CARES system from someone but didn't use it most of the time.

I was thinking about this last night too. I mean, does it really matter if it's rear or forward facing? In a car, you deal with front impact which is why you rear face, but on a plane? Turbulence just bounces you all around so I don't see why it matters what direction they are facing.
I've never used a carseat on a plane either, but if I did, it would be more so they would have a comfortable place to sleep. I almost wish we had one for H when we went to Mexico because he did does not sleep well being held.
I believe the reason they recommend carseats on planes is because of turbulence. Baby could fly out of your arms and straight into the ceiling above you ending up with bad injuries or even death if they hit right. I would always put them in a carseat in a plane because I would need it at the destination. Plus checking it isn't recommended.
slenle I don't think it matters what way they are facing as long as they meet the weight/height requirements for DD I would do whatever fit best/was most comfortable.
In the case of turbulence, if they're buckled in the seat on the airplane they won't be bouncing around.
If they are a lap baby they wouldn't be in a seatbelt. I don't think the seatbelts get tight enough for a 2 year old. Some of our toddlers are probably big enough that the seatbelt would hold them.
So are you all saying that I should get a seat for J and put her in her bucket seat? What about B, he is 42lbs and 43 inches, he's ok with the seatbelt right?
Travelling at the end of May, so she'll be 6.5 months. my plan was to wear her.
Best practices would be to get them both a seat and have them in carseats. Legally you aren't required to have carseats on the plane for either of them. Will you have carseats to use at your destination?
Most people would say that. I personally would not get a seat for J and I would wear or hold her.
I also can't remember if you are breastfeeding or not, but I flew with S a few times when he was young and breastfeeding was great to calm him during take off and landing. And it supposedly really helps with the ear pain. You (obviously) can't do that if he's in a car seat.

B flew in his own seat with just a seatbelt last summer (it was fine) and will again this summer. C will be a lap baby.
We traveled with B as a lap baby until he was a year or so old and he always did well. After that we got him his own seat bc I didn't care to hold him the whole time. From 12 months - 2.5 we used his car seat. I think you'll be fine holding J, but that's just me.
Eta: dnw want to lug 2 car seats thru airports while traveling solo. One seat with one kid was bad enough. I would only do it for really long-haul flights.

If you have the infant seat clicked into the stroller and have the convertible seat attached to the cart I don't think it would be so bad. I can't say for sure as I've never done it myself.

Lol, no I plan to just toss them both in the back with seatbelts. Lol Of course I have car seats there, I'm renting 2 from the car rental company. ::flame away bishes::
I rented 2 car seats when we drove from FLL to the port of Miami for our cruise. Big LOL no to lugging 2 car seats into the cabin on the ship. There's barely enough room for the suitcases.
And they were fine. They looked like they'd barely ever been used.
I took advantage of being able to have a lap child for as long as possible. If I was going straight from the airport to the hotel and not driving otherwise during the trip I just buckled them in the back of the taxi with me. I know it's flammable, but I was comfortable doing it in rare circumstances.
This is not only flammable but also illegal. It only takes one accident..
I have rented cars with car seats before. I know a lot of people are opposed to it, but I've done it and will be doing it again in December when we fly to Florida and rent a car.
And now that I think about it, what about trains? They're high speed. I've taken both kids on the train by us. Charlie in the stroller and Josie just sitting on the seat with us.
Also, I have taken S on a shuttle (like from the airport to the rental car place, or the off site parking lot to the airport) and he's sat on my lap.
Are we supposed to be installing car seats on those things? Does anyone actually do that?

Trains: csftl.org/travel-by-train/ The gist is that trains are the safest mode of travel and do not have seatbelts so no carseats can be used.
Taxis: I don't know the answer to. Cherhorowitz might have some insight

We had the agency put one in in Mexico, but they appeared without one on the ride back to the airport despite multiple requests. We obviously just went since we had to make our flight. We have done shuttles at other airports without as well.
I think in cities people use a bucket seat and strap in with carseat and no base. I don't know legally what's required. I remember seeing that Uber had a parent option in the city with carseat though.

The car seat argument on planes always makes me roll my eyes. I use a car seat because I like to contain him. I will let my kid be a lap infant if it's a short flight, otherwise get your own seat and get off me, buddy. I don't RF on planes because the benefits don't translate to planes and the guy in front of you can't recline. Frankly speaking, if the plane is going down, that car seat isn't doing shit. I have heard the turbulence argument and researched it thoroughly. I have yet to find one case of a child/baby that was killed or seriously injured because they were a lap infant or wearing a seat belt and hit turbulence. And if it ever happened, you would hear about it.

I'm totally side eyeing dhs cousin's wife. Her baby is 9 weeks old and she's leaving him over night for the second time.. I know I was a bit extreme with not leaving them. But 9 weeks?!
My daughters colleague took her 6wo with her on a plain for four hours, because she was desperate for some sun... I was definitely side eying that 🙄.
ETA my 10mo does not have colleagues, in meant my colleagues daughter...
Not sure why you're side eyeing. I already have this fetus' first flight booked at ten weeks old because Mama chases sunshine. Seasonal depression is real. I'd rather get a family vacation in while he's still little and sleepy.

I didn't leave C overnight until around a year. In retrospect, I waited too long. It's important to take time for yourself and recharge. I give no side eye to parents who leave their infant overnight. I do give some side eye to people who are unwilling to be away from their kids ever. A break is good for both parties.

I actually was just saying to MH that I wish we traveled more when S was an infant. Now it's much more of a pain b/c they need to be entertained, their ears might pop, etc. When he was a baby, he just slept and ate. We only flew 2 times in that first year and I definitely regret that.

Ditto. I have two trips booked for next kid, at 10 weeks and 4 months. I don't need to pack toys, snacks, etc. Just some diapers and some milk. Take a nap!
