I cannot believe the number of people walking around my neighborhood early in the morning wearing black clothes. I really want to stop and tell them that drivers can't see them! I was way too close to a speed walker this morning before I could see her. I know black is slimming, but please wear light colors and use a flashlight when you're jogging in the dark, neighbors!
I'm in a funk. H and I were watching tv last night and I just excused myself and cried in the bedroom randomly. Then I cried some more after we went to bed because H didn't even notice or ask if I was OK, even though I was blowing my nose and sniffling.
My coworker is going through a divorce and she is having an unpleasant conversation on the phone with her STBXH right outside my office and I'm really uncomfortable. I think I'll go take a walk.
annoying, but now i want to know what she is saying. nosey and shit over here.
So I made this friend in music class recently who has three kids and is done having babies. She wants to get rid of all her baby stuff and offered it to me. I already have pretty much everything so I mentioned my cousin who is a ftm and due about when I am. She texted me all these pictures of what she has and it is so much really good stuff. She is asking like 5-10 dollars for barely used stuff like an ergo and rock n play. My cousin could buy her whole lot of stuff for about 150 and be set for stuff besides the big stuff like a car seat. Well, she is getting some of it, but not all of it. I'm just over here thinking "you are making a mistake not getting all of it, but whatever...." She doesn't think she will need some o the stuff, but for 5 or ten bucks, why not just get it and if you don't use it, so what??
@betweenthelines I'm really sorry. It's rough to feel like that and then to not have it noticed makes that much worse. I hope your mood is on the upswing soon. Big hugs.
Do you have a diagnosis for speech therapy? I'm sure you've discussed but I haven't been around here.
We've been in speech therapy since January and it feels like the hugest waste of time...I'm beyond frustrated with it. She is "borderline" behind with no diagnosis but literally zero change in almost 4 months now. Just a lot of time and money.
W was diagnosed with a mild speech delay and speech disorder because he was regressing and shutting down when asked to talk. It is a lot of money and if I wasn't seeing improvements I would ask why that was (more intervention needed, extensions that can be done at home, etc.). W still shuts down but seems to be making progress with trying to communicate verbally and she's really hping me figure out how to work with him (by watching Her model it and then she watches me work with him and helps me tweak things so he's getting the most from it). I would definitely ask about what they're seeing (maybe they're seeing improvements to a metric you don't know about) and what needs to happen to see improvements. Big hugs it's definitely a frustrating experience to spend so much time and money and not see and improvement.
There is none of this. No coaching, no modeling, no homework for us to do with her. They point to pictures and say the words and play an ipad game. I'm not sure what they are doing. I told the person in charge of the therapy place that I was unhappy and ready to pull her out and she really didn't have any reason why we should stay besides "it's good for her." although She even seemed to think She should have made some progress in the 3 months. She had no suggestions or recommendations on how to improve.
Today is crazy at work. Students are scrambling and I have projects I need to finish up before I leave today. So much packing to be done tonight and MH won't be home until late. FX N cooperates and will watch SS instead of insisting upon going "ow sie" lol
2dumbdogs wow, the person in charge of that place really sucks at her job. Is there anyone above her that you could complain to? Or could you talk to your pediatrician and tell them your concerns? Maybe there is another place you could go.

That would make me want to scream too. Yeah I would definitely ask: What can you do at home to reinforce the learning? What skills/sounds are they working on? What are the weaknesses and strengths and how do you/they work with both? This would give me a good idea of what their intervention plan is and how they are approaching things. The fact that there isn't a clear dx or metrics they are using (that they've shown to you) would raise some red flags for me. I got w evaluated at CHOA and they explained the evaluation (what they were looking for) and then I was given the full evaluation about a week later with his strengths and weaknesses as well as where he fell age wise with his expressive and receptive language. This gave me a good idea of what we need to be working on as well as what hes strong with that we can take advantage of (if he's comfortable with animal sounds we'll play farm and sing songs and help him sound the names out, clap along, etc). During his sessions we spend a lot of time on the floor playing with simple toys and trying to get him to communicate verbally. No drills and w got way too sucked into the iPad so she doesn't bring that out.
I'm really sorry you're in such a frustrating situation. I would definitely address this with the speech therapist and/or the director to make sure that your daughters meeting the metrics and growing from the speech therapy rather than the vague responses you're receiving. Big hugs. Scream if necessary and if you need to talk let me know. My degree is in pre-k-5th so I've dealt with this stuff a bit (although not in this age).
