babybarlow2014 we have friends that do this. The wife will be like "Oh I got x from the boys for mother's day" I'm like uh no your not a mom you have two dogs. I'm not trying to be insensitive, I wasn't a mom for 37 years, I did have a dog and I did not celebrate mother's day for myself.
I would choose a summer dress over shorts anytime. Once the kiddos are older and I'm not as worried about flashing people when chasing them I will be back to dresses all summer.
This also. I always wore skirts and dresses in summer over shorts but being a mom of a young child had changed that in the last few years.
I like loose-fitting rompers for this reason. They feel like a sun dress, but I'm not going to accidentally flash anyone.
I need to understand what the definition of short shorts is. Some of you are talking about shortER shorts as opposed to bermudas or "mom" shorts, but when I think short shorts I'm thinking 2" inseam. I can do 4 or 5" but 3" or shorter is not good on me.
My workplace is not that casual but you can dress up Bermuda shorts. I need thick dress pant material - are the old navy ones like that lrmrtn ? It's 40% of the price listed right now too so I don't think $30 is bad for shorts I can wear to work or on the weekend.
They feel like the same material as khakis or twill pants. I'd pay $30 if I could wear them to work. I would only wear them on the weekends and not every weekend since I wear capris a lot or just gym shorts if I'm going to the beach or pool. So I need to save my money to buy work appropriate clothes for summer. Did you notice if Ann Taylor had capris/cropped pants?
Today is bring your kids to work day at my office. A woman brought her 7 year old son into the ladies' room. Um no. Your kid is too old and I think the men's room in our highly secure office is safe.

My favorite pair are 4" not sure how long my others are. I can guarantee not 2". I still always have my HS definition of short is anything higher than the fingertips. Which probably all of my shorts are.

The shortest i'll wear is 3.5in anything shorter than that and my ass is hanging out. I'd consider 5" shorter and anything long to be long shorts
I made zoodles with Alfredo sauce. DD loved them and ate a lot. Then the next morning I found a pile of them in her crib, so I haven't tried them since. She must have swallowed them whole and they came back up!
I guess this is an UO but I don't think the status of being a mom should have any bearing on what clothing is appropriate. Wear what makes you comfortable.
To weigh in on the UO and clothes- I'll admit I dress completely different as a mother than I did prior to DD. I feel very insecure about showing too much cleavage, or tight fitting clothes where as before I was completely comfortable dressing sexier. I feel like I'm setting an example for C and I don't feel comfortable if she saw me wearing low cut shirts all of the time.
I've been told this is not popular before. I don't think becoming a mom means you should dress different, but for me, it totally did work that way. DH makes fun of the outfits I wear sometimes.

Mostly agree but what about shirts? I mean when you have a you g child pulling at you all the time it could be unfortunate to have a nip slip or something? C has pulling down even my high cut shirts before and showed off my goods.

💯
I'm fed up of hearing about mom clothes and mom uniforms

But this goes into feeling comfortable. I'm probably not wearing summer dresses on the weekend to the park or a low cut top because of the amount of bending over required of a toddler. But if it's just me and H going out...

My bottom line was that you should wear what makes you feel comfortable. If dressing more conservative makes you feel comfortable, that's great. But I don't agree with blanket statement like moms shouldn't wear shorts with 3" inseams. My legs are short AF. Longer shorts look ridiculous on me. My ass is not hanging out.

Yeah I can see that, I missed that statement completely. And also I have very long legs (37 in inseam) and could never wear 3 inch shorts even pre kid. It just looked like underwear on me. I think people forget about 3 inches is like on different body styles. Shorts you'd consider just above knee are mid thigh for me... I'm sure.

It's not just the inseam. It's just a weird combination. It looks like trying too hard to be younger. Idk. Especially with the pockets hanging out and the wedges/ heels.
