There's a saying here in SC: the bigger the bow, the better the mother. NMS. BARF to anything smocked and embroidered and monogrammed and ruffled. Give me ALL the gingham though.
I'm picky about the mongramming, ruffles, smocking, etc. I like some of it but it can't be too much. I think the boy stuff still needs to look like it belongs to a boy (I know...flame away). My stepmom and grandma shop at an outlet for a kid's clothing line that I love, but they wind up buying things like pink gingham jonjons. Red and blue plaid jonjons? Yes.
A couple weeks ago, DS saw me wearing a dress and asked to wear one too. I immediately fished a couple options out of my closet and pinned the one he chose to fit him. I have since bought him two dresses in his size, he picked out the patterns/colors/styles. If he wants more, I will buy him more.
How should we identify what belongs to a boy? A girl? Who should make that decision? Gender, especially at this age, is fluid.
