Pros of Having an August Baby

I'm digging that my DD is a September bday and this girl is due about 3 weeks before so they will be able to have group parties as they are older and its usually really nice weather in these parts so hooray for outdoor parties. I also will enjoy having maternity leave in the Fall season

One nice thing is not having any major holidays or vacations to compete with. @kelsz12 I'm sure you understand with our D14 babies.

I'm not a huge fan of summer but I had tons of parties in parks or backyards with nothing but a grill, sprinkler, and kiddie pool. They were a lot of fun!

I'm also excited about being able to take the twins out for walks while on maternity leave since the weather will be nice. Jan and Feb were brutal last time around!

My niece and nephew are August babies so that'd be cool if all 3 grandchildren were. Happy to be on leave during late sunner and fall so we can go outside and take walks

I'm happy they will have a summer birthday. Growing up, having my bday in February sucked because I could never do anything outdoors. And as others have said, it'll be nice to have warm weather when they are a newborn so we don't have to worry about sickness.

Like others have said, super excited about nice fall weather and less concern over sickness. DS was born in November (14), and I was so worried about flu season, we stayed cooped up inside for three months which was terrible for my mental health. It also probably contributed to me looking 6 months pregnant 6 months postpartum (I may exaggerate a bit, but also not good for my mental health, lol). I hope to take so many nice walks with this one once the weather cools down.

+1 to maternity leave in the fall. DS was born in November and being stuck inside for 3 months I'm sure didn't help my PPA. I'm also excited that maternity leave will fall during prime TV season :-D

Summer birthday!

Our DS was born in December so no BBQ and outside fun. Still a great time though.

Those first few doctor appointments in warm weather.

No snow ( I was as totally afraid of getting snowed in when I went into labor)

As others have said, I'm so glad she will have a summer bday. Like mrshall1027, I have a winter bday (January) and your bday activity choices are really limited. Plus I love that we'll be able to get outside right away without worrying about flu season or it being too cold for her.

But, in general I didn't want an August baby. My birthday is in August and there are too many August birthdays in my family. Plus, you get a made up day to celebrate in elementary school - that always sucked.

I feel this way too. My bday is in August and there are 5 other people in my family who also have birthdays that month - now add 2 more.

8/16, DH's bday is on 8/13, dad's is on 8/17. I know MH wants me to go into labor on his birthday!

Things I love about being due in August. Ahh, being off on maternity leave (july through october) when the weather is nice! Being able to wear loose skirts and dresses instead of winter gear while being huge. Being able to go on walks after the baby is born and enjoy nice weather.

One thing that does make me a little sad is that her birthday will ALWAYS fall right in the middle of summer break. Which means she won't be able to celebrate and have a party with her friends on her birthday since people will be away on vacation and we'll have to schedule that after school starts back up or something. On the other hand, she gets to celebrate her bday twice, once with family&friends and once with her peers?

Ohh and I do really hope she won't be born on MILs birthday cause that would seriously suck for multiple reasons. Also not keen on sharing our wedding anniversary (which would also mean she's late!) but that's less bad then sharing MILs bday for sure. But all things considered I honestly don't care about when baby comes as long as she makes a healthy and happy appearance!

muscari Both the older girls have birthdays during summer break and it hasn't been that much of an issue with them being able to celebrate. The oldest is just now starting to want to celebrate with her friends and she'll be 11 this year. But, she's old enough to be able to get their numbers and invite them. Oh, and she loves the idea of a party with friends and a party with family! What kid doesn't want 2 birthday parties?!?!
