peggels24 yea he was an ass. He apologized. He struggled to understand how worried I've been because of the spotting bc rationally it's 98% nothing. That less than 2% freaks me out.
"I'm worried that I'm having a miscarriage and you come home to give me shit about not emptying the dishwasher?! Are you fucking kidding me?"
Logic is lost to me when I'm super emotional.
Spotting is even lighter brown now. So almost gone.
I'm glad spotting is almost gone. And I'm in the "husband doesn't get it" club a lot. It always gets worse during pregnancy. Eye roll. And the dishwasher can always wait.

Someone at my work has something that, while it actually smells nice, is really strong and almost making me feel sick. I am so ready for my enhanced sense of smell to take a hike.
{Nurse Twin Birth Horror Story} My friend's night nurse was pregnant with B/G twins a couple of years ago. She opted to delivery vaginally. The girl was born first and her arrival resulted in a 4th degree tear. It was so bad, they chose to deliver the boy via emergency C-section. SHE WAS RIPPED OPEN TWICE IN TWO DIFFERENT SPOTS.
IT IS THE DARKEST OF ALL OF THE TIMELINES.
I would be done. I would say knock me out for the next 3 months and don't wake me until all of this is handled. Make sure the children know how much I love them, damn it.

Hi ladies...sorry to everyone that is nauseous today. Mine has pretty much subsided but the heartburn remains. NT scan is tomorrow, I am excited and also super nervous. Like I have a bad feeling. No reason for it. I'm hoping it's just me being paranoid for no reason.
Miss Killjoy maybe this is #regional, but I don't know anyone who pulls their kid out of daycare when they are on maternity leave with second baby. No judgment from me. Enjoy your time with the new babe.
@bazi45 , I think it's a Canada versus the US thing. I'm going to be off for almost a full year (and have the option of being off for 18 months) so there's this sense that parents should want to spend all that time with all of their children.
I don't know for sure, but I assume I'm going to really need that break from my preschooler with an infant in the house. XD
Man, I would kill for Canadian maternity leave. Stupid US. And just like last time, my measly 6 or 8 weeks will fall over the holidays, which I get off at full pay already, but will count against me regardless. *grumblegrumble*

There are definitely benefits to our system. It's not perfect though. We max out our benefits quickly and the take home, while better than $0, is not enough to live on if you don't have a spouse with a good salary.
The US system is appalling. I am regularly horrified by how little you have by way of rights or access to parental leave there.
But we have so much freedom! The best freedom! Freedom to roll out of a hospital bed and go to work so you don't starve!

(Sarcasm font)
Oohhhhhhh, right, freedom. How silly that I forget these things.
I'm hoping to take the full 12 at full pay, but that requires my district to allow me access to the sick bank after my 6-8 are up. My last district that was no problem, but I've heard horror stories from my current district about it. Soooooo, I'll probably be back to work after 6-8 weeks, because we can't afford to live off just one salary.
I'm just over here, dying of heart palpitations because one of my sweet friends tagged me in a baby stuff giveaway post on FB last night even though there are many people we have yet to tell. I think I did everything in my power to get rid of it and told her to hold off in the future until she sees our announcement.

Oh no!!!! I'm glad you caught it.
H was like "what are we going to put on FaceBook and when?" and I was like "Um....I haven't told my partner yet so we have to hold off for a few more weeks yet."

My organization does not need to offer any leave or guarantee my job. The perks of only having two employees ... *sarcasm* Joke's on them though because finding someone else to put up with the BS that goes on here is going to be a tall order for the amount that they pay me. My supervisor wants me to come back and I would, but not sure the board will approve it.
Eta I was in grad school and working part time (at a new job -- got offered a paid position from an internship) starting at 6 weeks after DS was born.

Catching up late on a few topics here.
RE Jimmy Kimmel: I hope people hear his message about the ACA and preexisting conditions. I feel like a lot of people see their premiums go up and just bitch about Obama taking their money. They don't understand how it all works.
Maternity leave: I'm lucky and get 13 weeks paid through my company. I'm minorly bummed that it falls over holiday season, when I typically get a ton of time off anyway, so I'm "missing" that free week between Christmas and New Years because I'll be on STD/parental leave and it doesn't get extended for holidays. But oh well.
I'm sending my son to daycare 5 days/week during my maternity leave with no guilt. He loves school and does so well there with the structure and activities. Keeping him home with me and a newborn would be bad news for everyone. Plus we would have to pay to hold his spot anyway.
grumpycat88, my H also complained to me last week that on my WFH day I didn't do dinner prep during lunch break. SORRY I WAS WORKING. My fuse is short these days.

I am nervous about maternity leave. We don't have STD, so I will just use my leave which was depleted at the end of last year due to knee surgery. I think that even if I just take the 6 weeks I will have some time unpaid and we cant really afford that, especially with then having 2 in daycare.
I am hoping to have DS go to daycare for at least the first couple of weeks after this LO is born so I can get settled in with everything but we will see. We don't have to pay if he doesn't go so I'm sure I will be keeping him at least part of the time to save some money there.
