I guess I have been lurking long enough. I am She and when I have a spare second I play in Parenting, but honestly I don't have time to contribute anywhere. My wife and I are fostering 3 year old twin boys with the intent to adopt and a 22 month old boy that will be transitioning to his bios in early summer. It is rough, but all a part of the foster care roller coaster.
I am a bit panicked about taking my twins away by myself on Friday. We will be about 2.5 hours away and my wife will join on Saturday. She is worried about me going solo, but I am trying to play it cool.
Any POM pointers? I have a plan to let them pick a couple toys and snacks to put in their backpacks. But will also pack some additional time fillers.
@feegan, we are going from mid Michigan to Traverse City. We will be staying in a hotel. Traveling in the afternoon. The good thing is that we don't have any time to be there so we can drag out the travel if needed. A friend gave me a DVD screen to use so I can put on a movie if needed.
We are hoping to do a trip to TN this summer, which will be 10 hours. So I guess this is a warm up.
Good luck! I hope it goes well. Do they like to sing? Are there any CDs you can bring with? The Frozen and Moana soundtracks have saved us on road trips with our 3 year old. 😜
We love to start with naptime travel if possible since that buys us 3ish hours of peace. or overnight sleep travel on longer drives. Otherwise like the others said snacks and favorite toy(s) are a must.
