Happy Cinco De Mayo! H was up a lot last night coughing. It all sounded wet so hopefully all the gunk in her lungs is evacuating. It's supposed to be in the 70s today with little wind, I'm planning to spend lots of the day outside. This evening my older sister invited us over for margs and a bonfire.

Hi everyone. We've got a rainy day here too, like Guster. So i guess I'll make a cup of shitty work coffee as I don't feel like venturing out to sbux in this weather.
I hope no one outs you today mwhipple77! GL on the interview.
How many pages are your resumes? I feel like mine is way too long, adding my current job, it's 4 pages. I think it should be closer to two, but if I remove the oldest jobs, then I'm getting rid of a lot of experience I have. Should I just have a summary of qualifications that includes older jobs?
yummeecookee you are in HR, what do you like to see?
I really like no more than 2 pages. I'm ok with 3 if it really is good info and pertinent to the job. Like I don't need to see you worked as a phlebotomist for 3 years if you've now taken a career turn and are applying for a financial adviser position.
I'm also not a big fan of objectives/summaries or listing of qualifications. I can go through the job history and pick out those things.
I would consider condensing the older jobs, if possible. If you feel it's absolutely necessary to show them bc they relate to the job you're applying to, just whittle then down to a few bulletpoints.
I've been at work 15 minutes and asked by 2 people why I'm so dressed up. I work in a very casual office, when our CEO is out (which he is a lot), everyone wears jeans. Regardless if he's here, Friday is dress down day. But since I have my interview and I didn't want to change in a gas station, I just wore some beige slacks and a black sweater. Plus the company is getting a suite tonight at the Royals game, so everyone is wearing jeans and Royals shirts. Hopefully no one puts my dress, plus my excuse for a dr appt together. I just said I had no clean jeans since I didn't get my laundry all done last weekend. I did need to throw a load in this morning, so it isn't a total lie!
How is Ben this morning @sing2phins? How are you feeling wedding?
I work In the most casual office ever. So casual that when I came in wearing a long black skirt and nice top one time to go to a wake after work, everyone asked if I had an interview. Years ago I was contemplating leaving and went on a bunch of interviews. I had a highway rest stop near my job I used to change in (in my car) so I didn't tip anyone off. No way i could come into work in anything close to interview worthy without everyone knowing what was up
mwhipple77 I'm in hr too. Definitely try to keep it to 2 pages. I also don't like objectives or summaries.
Take off any irrelevant jobs and condense bullets for older jobs to just the basics and/or most impressive. Especially if you performed similar duties at multiple jobs.
Also (don't know if you have this) take off anything personal like hobbies or college activities. Take off 'references available upon request'
yummeecookee Could I email you resume and you can help me? Obviously it won't effect today, but I've looked at a lot of resumes over the years and I know that mine is way too long. But I'm not sure how to condense it and still show all of my experience.
Ugh my boss just send me an email on my private mail that requires a lengthy answer that she want before Monday morning. I'm on vacation until Sunday and have appointments on Monday morning, plus I don't work on Monday. I'm very annoyed.
Awkward hug attorney came into my office this morning. He said, "If you ever want to talk, I'm here. I've been through it, but it doesn't matter, because this is unique to you."
You have mail yummeecookee! Ignore all my different last names. If yummee wants to stalk me, she now has lots of my information! :-) maiden name, first married name, and current last name!
Hahah! I'm booking my flight out there as we speak.

C got up at 4. I decided to take the day off! Just dropped them at daycare, grocery shopped and have a hair appointment this afternoon. I colored my hair once but it was so subtle, going a bit bolder this time (but still very subtle haha)
Morning. Super rainy day here, I had us up and out the door early so MH could help us get to the car.
klongoria11 check out the book Option B that just came out by Sheryl Sandberg. I just started it and I think it's pretty good about dealing with life's crap. I'm glad he offered to talk when ready, people mean well but often don't know what to say or say the wrong thing unintentionally.
@calishov do you have a Realator? When we went house hunting in brought some places I wanted to see and then she took us to some pretty interesting house. She did that so she could see reactions to different things. After that she took us to a variety of house that had what we are looking for. Ours helped out a lot!
We do have a real estate agent that we like, he's mostly been good about ruling out homes we ask about so we don't waste time seeing them. I think I will ask him to start picking for us.
73jewels can I send you my resume to look over? I don't have hobbies or college activities, I'm too old for that stuff, but I do have where I earned my degree.
Yeah.ill pm you my email address, but fair warning, I probably won't have time to look at it till next week
Hola Chicas! I'm looking forward to some margaritas and tacos tonight...whole 30 is on hold for the weekend. We are making up our trip to Des Moines that we had to cancel last minute a couple of weeks ago. So I am working a half day and leaving around 1. The only crappy part about going this weekend is that we have to leave at like 6am on Sunday to get to my nieces first communion 4 hours away. I am not looking forward to that!
yummeecookee I sent you another email with a lot of questions. If you have actual work to do, please ignore me until you have the time. but I really like what you did! I appreciate your help and feedback!
I'm glad you liked it! I can prolly squeeze it in today. Resume review is HR work after all.....
You'll never be sorry about a having a good umbrella stroller vinolove . Small easy to maneuver strollers are the best. Cass still wants me to carry her huge self so often than I need to just keep ours in the trunk of my car all the time.
Yay for summer! I was just thinking of making a cheap Walmart run for some basics shorts and tees.
We also keep an umbrella stroller in the car. Never know when it will come in handy! Someone inevitably falls asleep during a car ride or doesn't want to walk upon reaching our destination.

Hello from the interstate again. We got a later start than I would have liked to. I told MH my plans to leave as soon as I got off work. I didn't think that meant I had to spell it out for him. I expected the car to be mostly loaded and he and M to be ready to go. Hahahaha. I walked in the door and neither of them were even dressed. Most of the bags were in the foyer ready to be loaded. And we had to stop to gas up. Dude, you had the whole morning to get all of this done. 🤦🏽♀️
20 minutes left of our 4.5 hour drive. Both kids slept the first 40 minutes. That's all. H is screaming at me for more food. I can smell the margarita from here. 20. More. Minutes.

I made a last minute decision to go up to my Dad's house tomorrow. I need to find his "important papers" and clean out his refrigerator and just check on things. I may see if his neighbor will now his lawn on occasion until we get things figured out. I'll be back Sunday. Cadence is irritated that mh is taking her to a birthday party instead of me tomorrow.

Omg, story of my life. If I say I'll be ready than I'm running out the door with the kids and our bags when MH pulls up. With MH it's all, "oh we just need to pack this. And this. And this. And stop for lunch. And get gas...." I get so pissed.
