- How old/combo (gg/bb/bg/etc) are your multiples? 8 weeks girls
- How's it going, any upcoming Dr Appts or milestones you'd like to discuss? 2 month appt and first shots next week. As far as milestones go, I feel like I'm trying desperately hard to get these babies to smile but still nothing. Is it normal for twins to be a few weeks behind on milestones? Do I adjust to their gestational age? Obviously this will get brought up at our appt next week. I'm sure with twins I don't spend as much time in their faces interacting with them as you would a singleton and I'm wondering if that's the reason for no smiles yet.
- Do you have any questions or concerns that you'd like advice on? See above
- Any feeding specific questions regarding nursing, FF, solids, weaning, etc? None today. We've settled into a good feeding routine. We were having major spit up the last couple of weeks. I bought some Dr Browns bottles and started mixing a little bit of Enfamil AR formula with their Gentlease and it seems to be helping a little.
- QOTW: Summer is coming, for some its already here, what fun plans are you looking forward to (or dreading), to do with your multiples? I'm looking forward to taking them to the Twins Days Festival this year!!
- How old/combo (gg/bb/bg/etc) are your multiples? GG 8.5 months old
- How's it going, any upcoming Dr Appts or milestones you'd like to discuss? They are crawling on all fours, pulling up on furniture, have 2 teeth with 4 more SO close, and are generally all over the place. No Appt until June 1 for their 9 month.
- Do you have any questions or concerns that you'd like advice on? nothing at the moment.
- Any feeding specific questions regarding nursing, FF, solids, weaning, etc? These two will not eat more than 4 ounces at a time from a bottle. I really wish we could cut down on feedings and up the amount but I cannot get them to drink more. They're eating well with solids though. We do at least 2 meals a day of BLW.
- QOTW: Summer is coming, for some its already here, what fun plans are you looking forward to (or dreading), to do with your multiples? We got season passes to Sesame Place, our local zoo, and our local pool. I can't wait to do so many fun things will all 3 girls.
@feegan DD1 was like that with speaking. She didn't have her language explosion until just after turning 2. She started speaking single words really early but then stalled for months! My nephew is 6 weeks older than her and had full sentences before his 2nd birthday so it was hard to not compare. I'm sure it's even tougher with twins. I'm sure it's just around the corner for him and in a few months, he'll catch up.
Also, what state are you in? I know most states have early intervention programs. In Pennsylvania (where I'm from) it's call the Alliance for infants and children it's something different in NJ but exists (where we live now). You can call and get a free evaluation for anything - so for speech and/or his eating troubles. I'd look into it if you're truly concerned. It can really help.
- How old/combo (gg/bb/bg/etc) are your multiples? 7.5 month b/g
- How's it going, any upcoming Dr Appts or milestones you'd like to discuss? Next appointment at 9 months. Z has FINALLY started scooting (backwards). I was getting worried that she was falling so far behind W, but she just wanted to do things in her own time.
- Do you have any questions or concerns that you'd like advice on?
- Any feeding specific questions regarding nursing, FF, solids, weaning, etc? Every time we give W whole foods, he ends up swallowing a piece that's too big and throwing up. Every time. Except for pizza crust. Z can and does eat everything we give her, but W just can't handle most foods. We've just decided to wait on giving him whole foods for the moment and just let him have purees. Is this normal? He will figure out how to eat real foods, right?
- QOTW: Summer is coming, for some its already here, what fun plans are you looking forward to (or dreading), to do with your multiples? Nothing much. We're planning on buying a baby pool for our backyard.
mustloveerica, Z is doing things more toward her adjusted age, while W is doing things toward and ahead of their actual age. There's a whole range of normal and it can really vary with twins, especially when they were preemies.

- How old/combo (gg/bb/bg/etc) are your multiples? 6 months (next week!) B/G twins
- How's it going, any upcoming Dr Appts or milestones you'd like to discuss? Things are going well. We have our 6 month appointment on the 18th and we start sleep training next week. Time to get them out of pack n plays and into cribs.
- Do you have any questions or concerns that you'd like advice on? Any advice for Ferberizing? That's our plan right now. And getting rid of swaddles. Basically, mine have been living the high life in cozy pack n plays (with angled sleepers) so I have a feeling it's going to be a rough transition.
- Any feeding specific questions regarding nursing, FF, solids, weaning, etc? We started purees. Mine aren't really into it and they hate sitting in seats. So, it's slow going.
- QOTW: Summer is coming, for some its already here, what fun plans are you looking forward to (or dreading), to do with your multiples?
We are flying to florida on Tuesday for vacation! I can't wait to take the babies swimming. They love kicking so I'm hoping they enjoy the water!

mustloveerica, mine didn't really start smiling (consistently) until 10 weeks. Also, like piccyami, I've always had one twin that hits milestones first and one who is about 4-6 weeks behind.

mc13 , just curious....how often are you feeding them?
ETA...the reason I ask is that mine still eat every 3 hours during the day and I had so hoped we would go to a 4 hour schedule but they aren't having it.

I don't really keep track but it feels often. Id say about every 3 hours and then a bottle overnight when they wake up around 10pm and 2am when they wake.

Oh man, you're still getting up with them at night....that stinks!

Oh yeah. DD1 didn't sleep through the night until 15 months but was waking 4+ times still at this age. Sooo, this is so much better and I don't really mind... too much. Lol

Mine are every 3-4 hours except at night. Someone invariably wakes up in the night for a bottle. Plus 3 meals of solids at daycare. Basically, one of my kids is always either eating or having a diaper changed.

Those daycare workers sure earn their pay, right? Haha
I feel like its been ages since i have checked in! Hi ladies!
mustloveerica, mine definitely were late with smiles and giggles. Almost 3 months i would say so right on target with their adjusted age. In fact most milestones at the beginning were slow coming but now they have caught up and then some.
- How old/combo (gg/bb/bg/etc) are your multiples?
9.5 months b/g
- How's it going, any upcoming Dr Appts or milestones you'd like to discuss? Going well, put the babies in their own room last weekend. And we had no adjustment period. (Well maybe just for me! Lol) they did great. No to be fair they were arleady sleeping in their cribs so it not like they had to get used to a new bed. Both are crawling and sitting very well, pulling themselves up on anythibg and everything Both have 6 teeth (a different 6 though) DS can walk holding on a walking toy and DD just wants to walk when we are holding her hands. This is moving way too fast for me. Where did my small babies go?
- Do you have any questions or concerns that you'd like advice on?

I am having a hard time figuring out the exact time they should eat now that they are eating more purees and real food. I find i have more meltdowns becauae they go from not being hungry to starving in a matter of minutes. Then i cant get the purees in them enough. What was ypur feeding schedule at this time?
- QOTW: Summer is coming, for some its already here, what fun plans are you looking forward to (or dreading), to do with your multiples? Not too much, enjoying going to the park and of course their first bithday! Which i can't believe is a mere 3 months away!

They really do. They use an online status program, so I see updates as they come in. They each get 3 bottles and 3 solids "meals" a day, have 4-5 diaper changes each, and have at least 2 naps. It's pretty constant.
18m b/g Just had their 18 month check-up. Decided to pull pacifiers. We definitely waited too long. I'm writing this sitting on my front steps so I can't hear them wailing- W pitched such a fit that she woke A up 45 minutes into his nap. Now they are both awake and pissed about it. I'm giving them 15 minutes (I went in to make sure no one pooped and put their lovey's back in their cribs) because they both need more sleep. MOTY over here, ugh, it's making me irrationally angry. No questions. QOTW: We're hoping for some camping trips. And just to get out more, do more things. We bought a used bike trailer, so hopefully we can all get in better shape this summer!
requiressnacks, we didn't get 4hr stretches until they were eating solids 3x a day, and then... Well they were eating solids in the middle. I swear 8-12m just felt like all I did was feed them. mustloveerica, DD meets most milestones ahead of actual age while DS met most at the tail end of adjusted. He started catching up around a year on gross motor skills and talking but he really excels in fine motor and has an insane attention span.
- How old/combo are your multiples? bg1 19.5 months, bg2 2.5 months
- How's it going, any upcoming Dr Appts or milestones you'd like to discuss? Older ones are acquiring words like crazy. R handed me a piece of fuzz from somewhere in the car and asked "where go?" G's gibberish is getting more recognizable every day. The meaning behind yes, no, and all done aren't always accurate and I think R is confusing mommy and daddy. Not sure why.
Younger ones are becoming more responsive and interactive. They both recognize bottles as food and recognize my voice. L gets much more excited for food than M, but M knows that if she fusses I'll pick her up and then she give me the biggest grin ever. They've also been congested, so I keep putting off moving them from rockers to cribs. I wish I could put them in their cribs, but I just don't think they can clear out the phlegm well enough laying flat.
- Do you have any questions or concerns that you'd like advice on? Any more ideas on how to get out alone with all four besides an unwieldy stroller? The quad stroller is out.
- Any feeding specific questions regarding nursing, FF, solids, weaning, etc? How do you incorporate fruits and veggies into a toddler's diet? What do you do about throwing dishes and food on the floor? We've told/showed the older kids that throwing things means you're all done with your meal, but I don't want them to use that as the way they tell us they're all done.
- QOTW: Summer is coming, for some its already here, what fun plans are you looking forward to (or dreading), to do with your multiples? I have no plans. I'd like to take them to my mom's and play in her yard. She just got a giant playground.

@feegan yes the big festival in Ohio. It's pretty close to us so even if we don't do the whole weekend it will be fun to stop by and check things out. I went to high school with a set of twins and one went on to have twins herself and they go every year. I love the pictures she posts. It looks like such a fun time!

That's so cool!
My daycare does a really shitty job at making sure mine nap. I think Gabriel slept for 40 minutes yesterday. I couldn't believe it when I read it.

There for a while, they just didn't nap. Now that they're in the bigger room (their rooms are split 6 weeks-6 months, 6months - 1 year), they're stimulated more, so they're actually sleeping better. I told their teacher that they had car naps this morning and she was just like "nope. we're not doing that today, it's Friday. We'll pretend you didn't have naps." I seriously love her.

Your place sounds so great!!! (not that mine isn't, but they definitely don't go above and beyond, KWIM?)
- How old/combo (gg/bb/bg/etc) are your multiples? 11 week b/g
- How's it going, any upcoming Dr Appts or milestones you'd like to discuss? C is free from her cardio meds! One more appt in 3 months and we are free from them!
- Do you have any questions or concerns that you'd like advice on? Any advice on crying. Constant cranky, sad little boy. I'm at my wits end with what to do for him.
- Any feeding specific questions regarding nursing, FF, solids, weaning, etc? Soy formula, anyone give that a try?
- QOTW: Summer is coming, for some its already here, what fun plans are you looking forward to (or dreading), to do with your multiples? I get to wrangle both at a wedding that their dad is in, in July....not liking forward to that by myself lol No real summer plans, we will do a few tractor pulls, that may be interesting
Thanks for the check in @feegan! I can't believe they are 22 months already!
mustloveerica Mine didn't smile until about 10 weeks, and not consistently until about 12 weeks. They were not preemies. I think they just weren't getting as much face-to-face interaction as singletons. They are perfectly healthy, cheerful, interactive babies.
mc13 Do they drink out of sippy cups while eating solids? We just started putting formula in their sippy cups to try to up their calorie intake during "meals" so we can space bottles out a little more.
piccyami Mine are a month older than yours and we are just barely starting finger foods. M does really well with it but G still gags and throws up. I think it's still fairly early.
requiressnacks re: Ferberizing, just commit. The first night is hard but each night should get better. I found that my babies got more upset when we came in to check on them, so we just set up the monitor to make sure they were safe and let them CIO for as long as they needed. They did really well and it was so worth it now that we are sleeping!
hollyberry I'm trying to get them used to normal mealtimes, so I do solids around 9:30, 12:30, and 4:30 (very flexible depending on the day). We do bottles every couple hours too.
schmella Were they used to having their pacifier all the time, or just in their cribs? Maybe you could transition them more slowly.
nomnom Could you wear the babies and put the toddlers in a double stroller?
nic1231 Congrats on being done with the cardio meds!
Post by requiressnacks on May 5, 2017 19:07:11 GMT -5
nic1231, I had a sad, cranky old man for about 12 weeks. Then he found his appetite and his smile and now he's a fairly happy boy. I honestly don't know what happened at 12 weeks. I hope yours lightens up!
- How old/combo (gg/bb/bg/etc) are your multiples? B/G almost 8 weeks
- How's it going, any upcoming Dr Appts or milestones you'd like to discuss? 8 week checkup and shots on the 16th
- Do you have any questions or concerns that you'd like advice on? It seems we are in the 6-8 week hell week. Both babies must be going through a leap and a growth spurt at the same time, all they want to do is eat and neither one will sleep longer than 2 hours without lots of fussing. This will get better in a couple of days right??
- Any feeding specific questions regarding nursing, FF, solids, weaning, etc? We are using Gentleease but we are still having lots of gas issues, is there another formula that you guys like for gas reduction?
- QOTW: Summer is coming, for some its already here, what fun plans are you looking forward to (or dreading), to do with your multiples? I honestly have zero plans for the summer, we are normally on the boat on the water and there is no way I'm doing that with newborns so it looks like a super boring summer for us

bocaburger, we are on the upswing, but I wish I had pulled them a month ago. They only had pacifiers in their cribs- we probably could have pulled them overnight but kept them for naps for a while, but we have a trip at the end of the month and I'm the only one who can stick to my guns- the ILs would be all over me, so it had to be all or nothing. I didn't even ask MH. requiressnacks, do not back down on CIO. We were wishy washy on it and it got way worse. I felt absolutely horrible because they were upset because they thought I'd come back in, KWIM?
Post by requiressnacks on May 5, 2017 20:18:12 GMT -5
dukegirlsc, we had better luck with Similac Sensitive....well actually the Up & Up Target generic. Good luck! 8 weeks was the apex of my misery. Things were so much better by 10 weeks. Hang in there!
bocaburger, That's a good idea! We're been putting water in their sippy cups when they eat solids, but I'll try using formula tomorrow. I'm not sure they drink much, but I bet once they taste that it's formula then they'll drink more.
