cosmicav - I'm team sleep in a bra! I'm not comfortable without one. What kind of fanfic do you write?
The shitty kind LOL
I have only written stories for X-Men, Pokémon, Avatar: the Last Airbender, and the manga Shingeki no Kyojin. I have read fanfic from a ginormous amount of fandoms though. I have even read stories from the Magic School Bus fandom. The world is such an interesting place. Lol.
jellykat2 Another Germany resident! Why did your family live there? Military?
I lived there during college to get to know my family better. My grandmother is from there and a lot of my family still lives there.
My dad was Air Force and stationed at Ramstein. Ive always wanted to go back, but haven't made it yet. I have a friend that lives there now, and I love seeing her pics on Facebook. What an amazing experience for you!
I can see now that I did it because I didn't know what else to do after college. If I could go back, I'd tell 20 year old me to work before continuing school. I dunno, I have a lot of feels about grad school basically.
Have you used the degree?
I did something similar and got my Master's and have done nothing with it except pay for it. Whomp whomp.
I do use it - my position at my company requires a PhD. And I like what I do, so at least there's that.
I think had I worked first, I would've understood my postgrad options better. During and right after grad school I thought the only acceptable track was to become a professor. So when that track wasn't working out for me, I basically got into a vicious cycle of avoiding/hating my work and beating myself up about it.
But hindsight is 20/20 - it all worked out. I did go to therapy for a while afterwards - maybe if I had done that while I was in school it might've helped

I'm also a band nerd - I played flute for 8 years in orchestra and marching band.
I love college football and basketball. I also like watching NFL games and going to MLB games.
I'm 30 and DH is 33. For our friend group from grad school/work we're the first to have a baby (although 2 are due later this year). Of my college and HS friends I'm the last to have my first kid. But I was also the last to get married.
