TTMA ear infections. I think M has his first one. He woke up crying that his ear hurts. I'm waiting for the pedi to open, but they're not contagious, right? He doesn't have any snot, and aside from an occasional productive cough, he seems fine.

Not contagious. N used to get a fever but she didn't always have a lot of snot. She would shake her head so I knew it was an EI at that point.

The snot is contagious but that's not a reason to stay home from daycare. Daycare would send him home for fever with an EI and I would send him back with a note from the doc that confirms it's an EI so he can go to school. Advil. Lots of Advil for M. And maybe some Benadryl at night to dry it up. Or 24 hour Zyrtec.

Good morning!
I'm no help with EI stuff as A has never had one. I hope poor M gets some relief!
We had a rough day yesterday. My usually chill baby didn't want to nap and was fussy all day. I didn't get done what I wanted to get done and I also was super short with H all evening once he was home. Whoops. I was terrified of what the night would be like but thank goodness it was like a normal night for B, waking at 2am and almost 6am.
Here's to hoping he's back to normal today cuz mama's got a lot to do!
I just emailed my congressman about an independent review of the Russian ties stuff. Good thing Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell care...
I am so full of rage about all of this stuff. Well, I'm still full of rage with anything that has to do with Trump really. But god. It just seems to get worse everyday.

I just got back from the pedi, she confirmed EI. We caught it early, but she was surprised since this is his first one, and he doesn't have a pattern to tip us off. Amox for 7-10days.

Text "resist" to 50409 and follow the prompts and you will email your senator. This is what was suggested:
In the wake of James Comey's firing, I am reaching out to request a full and independent investigation be carried out on the ties between President Trump and his affiliates, and President Putin and Russia.
I added: Thank you for representing ALL members of your district and their combined voices.

Did you do a hair flip and tell her you just know your child?

No, I'll remember that next time. It's not like I have super powers, he said his ear was hurting, I feel like that's a no-brainer

I'm jealous that you can trust your kid to tell you that. Mine will tell me anything hurts at any moment because he thinks it will get him a popsicle. Which led us to a pediatrician visit a few weeks ago where they told us there was nothing wrong with him.

We haven't had that yet. I guess it was a matter of circumstance. If we was playing and just said his ear hurt, I would probably just make note, but when he wakes up in tears...

Same here. I got a call from school the other day. They said N was saying her arm hurt and that maybe she fell on it on the playground. I called back later in the day and they said she was fine. That night she said she had a boo boo and got a lollipop. I'm surprised she hasn't faked more injuries for that lollipop again lol.

Yeah, I guess that's a no brainer. In our case he had a fever that hung around longer than normal, and didn't seem to have any other symptoms. So we were trying to get him to tell us if there was anything wrong, and trying not to "guide" him into saying anything in particular. DS asked if his nose hurt or if his elbows hurt and stuff like that, and in the end he told us his neck and ears hurt. And he probably had a sore throat and could feel it in his ears a little, but it wasn't an infection. And by the time we got to the pedi he didn't have a fever anymore either. I felt like an idiot.

Yesterday in the car on the way home he took his shoes off and told me he had 2 boo boos. One is a mark on his foot that has been there since he was like a week old. The other was a red mark I think from the sandals he had on last weekend. But he said he "bonked" it. And then he said "I need two popsicles to make me feel better" LOL nice try kid...
I wish McConnell or Rand Paul would ever actually show up around these parts or hold a town hall. Interesting how he's been to his office in Fort Wright once in the 10 years. He really knows the interests of his constituents.

sstwinklinglites Who did you use for your breast pump? I remember you got it pretty early right?
When you can order it depends on your insurance plans rules. I had two different plans and with DS1 I could get it anytime during the pregnancy and one per calendar year if I was pregnant or nursing. With DS2 I get one per pregnancy and I couldn't order it until 3rd trimester and I get one additional supply kit per year (like extra bottles and parts.)

I get one per a pregnancy. Today, I asked insurance about timing ( I was calling to check some CPT codes, anyway) and they wouldn't give a direct answer about the policy, only that some DME's won't do it until 1-2 months before my EDD. I checked my medical policies and the only thing I can find is about the medical necessity of hospital grade pumps.

Hmm. That's an odd response. It's not up to the DME, it's up to the insurance policy. I also needed a prescription the second time and didn't the first. Maybe just get an rx and try to order what you want and see what the DME says. I think she used Blue Cocoon. I had to use the DME my insurance specified or they wouldn't pay for it. I had a phone number in my plan document.

mrscatfarmer13 - I used Blue Cocoon, and they forward your info to a DME that does the leg work. My policy required a Rx, but they called the OB on my behalf and got it. Then called me to confirm the pump I wanted and if I wanted it ASAP or to wait until later. So I told them ASAP - thankfully, given everything happening now.
How much do I have to dress up for our niece's baptism? Cotton sundress ok? It's in a Catholic church on Sunday afternoon. H is godfather so he's wearing a suit. I have no part in the ceremony, but there will probably be pics of me with H so I feel like I should dress up. I have several maternity dresses, but they're all pretty casual.
mrscatfarmer13 what pump did you have before? I have more feedback on spectra vs Pisa if you are interested in my two cents.
I had the PISA. I'd love the feedback
Ok I've been using both recently. The spectra at work and the Pisa at home. I like the medela flanges and that there are less parts on the medela. I have had an issue recently where milk and condensation were getting in the tubing, so that was annoying. Now I just take the tubing off for a few mins while the pump is still running and haven't noticed it anymore.
I'm annoyed by all the parts on the spectra. Extra things to remember and more parts to clean. I do like the light and timer on the spectra though. And it is definitely quieter than the Pisa. The flanges for the spectra started bothering me lately, like out of nowhere. I use a 27 mm on the medela and the spectra say 28, maybe that's the issue?? Idk, I just started using the medela flanges with an adapter on the spectra and prefer that setup. Oh, and sometimes the tubing on the spectra was coming off while pumping. Like there was too much pressure and it just blew off. It's only happened a hand full of times, not sure why.
I haven't done an apples to apples (as best I can day to day) comparison on output but I would say they are probably similar ime.
Sorry this is probably going to look like a huge run on paragraph. Hopes it helpful.
