Anyone else's OB offer them an elective induction? Mine basically said I could elect anytime since my cervix is favorable. I'm not doing this until I go overdue, but wondering if this is a normal recommendation/option, for induction without some medical or personal necessity?
FX they admit you and labor starts soon setsuna17 sounds like things are moving!!!!
Thank you all for the well wishes, he came at 7 am, lots of Sandy blonde hair (looks darker in the pic), 7lbs 3oz 18.5 inches. This was me attempting to wake him up to nurse. He finally woke up and is now perma latched on
Me: 32, Wife: 38, Together for 5 years, Married for 2 years IUI #1 (8/2016): Letrozole, Ovidrel, Crinone = BFN IUI #2 (9/2016): Letrozole, Ovidrel, Endometrin = BFP!! EDD 5/26/17
irish14 mine mentioned it like yours. That I could schedule if I wanted after I turned 39 weeks. With my DD1 (same OB) we scheduled one the for two days before I was due. No medical reason really. I ended up going into labor the night before though.

My doctor offered for the same reason and said they could schedule right at 40 weeks. I was pretty surprised!
irish14 I asked today and apparently my hospital doesn't induce before 41 weeks unless there's an issue. Not what I wanted to hear today haha. Have definitely heard of places that induce at 40w though!
jmcbick yeah I was surprised my OB will induce at 38w if you want, as long as you have a favorable cervix. I guess that's an important part of the puzzle, they won't do just anyone at 38

MIL is leaving this evening and I am so ready. She has been a little more helpful than she was with DD, but still managed to aggravate me quite often. H went back to work on Tuesday and she just keeps saying how he needs more sleep and he looks so tired. I have been getting up with DS MOTN but H still wakes up when he fusses. I would wake up, too, even if H got up with him. She said I should sleep on the couch tonight with DS in his RNP next to me so H can get some uninterrupted sleep. Umm, what about the person who is still recovering from major abdominal surgery? When do I get uninterrupted sleep?

irish14, my doctor has mentioned anything (unless you count stripping my membranes). I know they want to induce at 42 weeks, I'm not sure if they do it before that.
I'd really rather not make it to 42, but I also don't want to be induced, so I don't know how to feel about that whole shebang. Hopefully it's not an issue.
icedtea fx you don't have to worry about it I seriously don't know what I'd do if I made it to 42 weeks. I think based on DS I'd have a 12 lb baby by that point, anyway...
icedtea I'm with you. I REALLY don't want to go to 42 weeks, but I also don't want to be induced. My neighbor had a baby right at 42 weeks and she was going totally nutty by then.

(stuck in the box) OMG I'd be livid. That's ridiculous.
My doctor was going to induce me at 39 weeks 1 day because I was a good candidate, 5th baby, successful previous inductions, and the main reason was my husband's work schedule. I think since my husband is also a doctor, and colleague he went against his 40 week rule. The hospital will not electively induce anyone before 39 weeks. I think as far as inductions go I would be more hesitant as a FTM, but with this little guy I wasn't worried, but ended up not needing it anyways Even as a FTM I think I would just beg for and induction before 42 weeks!!!
