I'm up feeding C. He woke up about the same time he has the last several nights, but bedtime was rough last night. We did the same routine as always, started slightly earlier (because of when he was awake and hungry) but he fought it so hard. He's usually out by 8:30 lately, very occasionally 9. It was 10:15. He also was really into the pacifier last night, which he usually doesn't care for. Normally he won't take it, or will for just a few minutes and spit it out. That's actually how I got him out last night...I put him to bed with it and he fell asleep with it in his mouth. Is that ok at this age? I got up about a half hour later to check on him. It had fallen out (because he was asleep) and I took it out of the bassinet.
sterl724 J falls asleep with the paci fairly frequently. They used it in the NICU when she would get fussy, so it never even occurred to me it could be unsafe in the crib. I usually just move it bc it will get under her head or something like that.
We're up. J got up at 1 and 5. H took the 1 am, and I'm feeding her now. Trying to decide whether to go back to bed, or stay up. I need to pump after this too, so we are looking at 6:30 ish before I could be back in bed...

I'm up. B woke at 1:45am (normal for him) but then was up at like 4:45 and 6:25am. The 4:45 was out of the ordinary so not sure what that was about. About to put him back down. Hopefully he sleeps for a couple more hours.
sterl724 We use a paci too, he won't settle without it sometimes (he's 5 weeks). The AAP actually says it can reduce the risk of SIDS to use one, so I'd say it's fine to use. We EBF and it hasn't messed with his latch, but every baby is different
kristhegirl I had a question about the nap routine. If I do the routine, put her down and she doesn't fall asleep, do I just get her up? When do I try again? Sometimes, she just hangs out wide awake in her crib, but not crying. I'm never sure at what point I should grab her.

The 2 wake ups from the last few nights turned into 3. Whyyyyyyy?!
I blame me trying to get rid of the full swaddle. DH saw in the info our pedi gave us that if baby was 2 months (she is) and can roll over (she can) then they shouldn't be swaddled. Full swaddle is coming back.
A fell asleep around 830 last night (I usually try for a nap then and do bedtime closer to 10), but she did NOT want to wake up to eat at 10 so I just let her sleep because I'm hoping to start moving bedtime up soon anyways. She woke up at 2 and 4 then slept until 7! That's a 5 1/2 hour stretch! Of course I didn't sleep until almost 1130 but it was still wonderful.

I think B is going to love routines and schedules, just like me and his sister. The past few days as I've been running so many errands and doing stuff to get ready for vacation, our normal routines have been thrown off and he hasn't napped that well. Thankfully, nighttime sleep hasn't been affected much but naps have suffered. And now, we're leaving for vacation tomorrow and there will be no semblance of normal for the next week or so. I'm kind of scared. We'll keep the nighttime routine the same but it will be much later than normal.
When we get back from vacation, back to a more routine day we go!
glb30 and mosdub thanks glee the feedback on the paci. He usually prefers his hand (And had discovered his thumb) but was all about the last night. We haven't used it a tub, so I didn't know what was considered normal/safe.
erinshelley21 sorry about the extra wake-up. Hope your can squeeze in a nap!
. and kaits8 yay for good sleep!! Grover - any idea what schedule your friend uses? We have a routine fit bedtime, but nap routine needs improved and we don't ready have a "schedule" per say. It would definitely make life easier if we had a general schedule and general nap timeframes, etc.

When she cries. Make sure the room is dark so there is less for her to look at - everything is fascinating for babies, everything.
2 hour and 3 hour stretches last night! Better than it was the night before.
Another nap question. What if he will only nap on me? Literally. If I move to attempt a transfer he is wide awake. What does everyone else do?
Do you have a baby receptacle that rocks or bounces or buzzes or all three? Put him in there, calmly, believing that he is still tired and wants to take a nap still. You can stay by him, too, if it helps; or, tell him it's time to rest and you'll come back to check on him, and then do that.

FFFC: I'm back at work and while I miss my baby and don't love my job, I'm enjoying being back in a routine. I'm tired as shit but I'm like a toddler and need routine.

Still in the dark room with the white noise etc.
Ok I'm going to attempt this on our next nap. If he stays awake and cries do I start the routine again to keep trying to get him down? Or wait another hour of awake time then do it again? Why do I find this so unnatural? I'm so clueless. Uhh.
