Someone on my Facebook page announced she's having a girl in November today. I asked how she found out so early and she said they did a 3D ultrasound at 13 weeks. Um...don't boys and girls have the game parts still at that stage?? Or is this a thing?
The doc told me last time at my scan around 12 weeks it was a girl...but she cautioned it was just an educated guess and they have to confirm it either with a blood test or at the 20 week scan. Turned out that she was right. But I wouldn't have announced it so early in case it was wrong.
With DD they told me girl at my first tri screen ultrasound at 12.5 weeks but cautioned it was just an educated guess. They said it's all about the angle of the dangle haha, and showed me how to read it to make an educated guess on my own. My first tri screen this pregnancy is next week so we'll see!
I've heard it called that early, it's not 100% guaranteed but if they have a good view and with the 3D technology it should be a pretty good guess. I will be going to a perinatalogist for an advanced u/s since I am high risk at about 13.5 weeks and I'm secretly hoping we find out the sex then. Otherwise the private ultrasound places around me will tell you for about $70 after 14 weeks.

I would be leery of u/s prediction at 13 weeks, especially if they told me girl. I've heard that it's common to mistake girls for boys because stuff can hide on the u/s, but it's less common for predicted boys to be girls.
