@ypunglove316 does your LO have a speech delay too? We're being evaluated next month and I'm in that weird place of hoping he qualifies and hoping he doesn't. He definitely doesn't have 20 words.

I'm not sure. In addition to mama and dada, she only says no, stop, and bye on a consistent basis. She has said maybe 2 or 3 other words in the past but it was a one time thing. My DD1 was definitely talking more by now so my gut is saying yes but I know it's not fair to compare.

It is tough to compare kids. I have a video at DD1s first birthday when she opens a gift and says clear as a bell "momma, a vacuum. Red is my favorite". DD2 is 18m and her only sentence is what WE know to be "I did it" but it kind of sounds like "idet" so just one sound; and like maybe 3-5 CLEAR words with the rest being similar sounds or total gibberish.

I know we're no supposed to compare, but if it makes you feel better, that sounds like more than my LO says and at the first speech evaul with the special services team he only just qualified. He's advanced some since then, so we have to see if he qualifies for early intervention now. There's a pretty wide variation of normal, but it's good to get checked when you're worried.
