I have a moby and ergo. I liked the moby for the infant stage but once he got introduced to the ergo, baby hated the snuggness of the moby and i had to stop using it.

Team tula here. DS still likes going up in the tula. We used the k'tan until DS was big enough. I got a lillebaby for #2 because it doesn't need an insert. I make small babies. I did not enjoy the ergo (straps were too wide/bulky).

Following this thread! I think we're getting a hand-me-down, I think it's an Ergo, or something that looks like it. I only ever see the dad wear it, so I feel like it'll feel huge on me, but the mom wears it too, and she's even shorter/more petite than me.
I was thinking of something like a k'tan grumpycat88, because it'd be comfier for wearing indoors I think.
We love our traditional Ergo. We don't have an infant insert for it, so we used other things until DS was 6 months (Moby wrap, baby Bjorn), but then we carried DS in the Ergo exclusively until he was around 2. It distributes weight well and never hurt my back or shoulders. I also nursed him in it constantly.

blabbermouth I'm a big fan of the k'tan. I wore DS daily and went for long walks with him in it.
ETA I wore him inside as well. They do make a k'tan breeze which breathes a bit better if you sweat a lot. He was born in January so we didn't need it!

The k'tan is like a wrap but you don't have to tie anything. You get it based on your tshirt size. The Moby needs to be tied, but I've heard good things about it! If you have a babywearing international group near you, they can help you figure out what works best for you.
Carriers (soft structured carriers) are more like backpacks, they have buckles. They are better for older infants (though most have an infant insert you can get). Examples are tula, ergo, kinderpack, and lillebaby.
Wraps are going to be more complicated. You'll need to learn how to tie them.
I used a k'tan when DD was itty bitty. Now we have a lillebaby and love it. Though we haven't used it as much lately. She's too rambunctious to be contained.

Do the lillebaby carriers get broken in over some time? I tried out the new lillebaby I got and it's sooooooooo stiff (especially compared to my almost 2 year old and well loved tula).

They do. I've never used a Tula, but LB definitely has a lot structure to it.
I love the k'tan when they are itty bitty and then the ergo once they have good head control.
I hiked a decent amount with my 25lb toddler on my back in the ergo and was very comfortable! I'm short- like 5'3- but admittedly have wide shoulders so I did not have any strap issues.

@iheartmyshiba Ahhhhh ok gotcha! I want to get a toddler mesh tula. DS is almost out of standard now (he's 30+ lbs, comfortably in 2t pants, and tall). I tried the tula wearing the waist strap above my belly (for pregnancy) and I didn't feel like the panel was high enough on his back.
I have a Wildbird ring sling but it only worked for DS when he was tiny because he is a seat popper. I'm hoping to use it more with #2 because it is gorgeous.
I used an Ergo 360 most of the time. I just used a rolled up blanket under his butt until he fit without it instead of using the infant insert.
Now we use a toddler tula. It is great but he definitely prefers a back carry. He gets hot and irritated otherwise.
I am thinking I will possibly try out a k'tan for when he is new and then move on to the others. I definitely know I will need something so I can also deal with toddler life.
Good lord, I said use a lot. Sorry about that, I annoyed myself.

Get a toddler! My DS is 31.5 inches and a bit over 25# and we've been wearing a toddler for a while. He fits pretty well, even though he is smaller than the recs.

We had a Solly baby wrap and a ergo 360 with DD. I LOVED the solly baby wrap in those first 6 months. I never used my ego much. DD didn't like being in it too much. We used it some when traveling but other than that big much at all. I'm think I'll be babybwearing ally more with a 2 year old and an infant. Probably will just main stick to the solly wrap.

@iheartmyshiba I'm in those too lol. I had to turn off notifications because I'm way too into it. I don't like any of the boy/neutral toddler mesh ones. I do however love "jack" aka hipster beaver.
RoLoMa I've almost convinced dh. it's gonna happen.

@iheartmyshiba I've convinced dh to wear DS a couple times. It's not his favorite. *shrugs* I hate pushing a stroller around and love the extra snuggles. I also had a conversation with him recently about babywearing and how natural it is to me. I mean we spend 9 months or so with the baby inside, it's odd to me that we then don't continue to physically bond with it (other than potentially breastfeeding). Just my opinion though I know not everyone is into babywearing.
Eta there's more physical bonding then that. I think I mean like carrying the baby. Like how baby gets from point a to b (when cars are not involved).
I hated my k'tan. I could never get it tight enough. Now I have a beco and I love it.
The k'tan does stretch as you use it. It should fit you like a tight tshirt. You may have had a size too big. I'm glad the beco works! One of my friends loves her beco!
More on the lillebaby. It is great for little babies and will work as they grow. If you want one to work across a variety of situations without buying inserts, it is a good choice. The straps can be criss crossed. There is an extra back support. It is very comfortable. I have a small frame and it adjusted well for me. I used to wear him all over the house. It saved my sanity. I could get it on easily when out. So easy to get him in it. It is easy to adjust to be secure. I rarely felt hot in it. I researched a lot and my favorite thing about it was just one carrier for different ages. If you love baby wearing, you will probably buy more carriers, but for a first carrier to make your life easier, it is an excellent choice.
They have really cute patterns too. I just got one with donuts on it that I plan to use for #2. I got it because it doesn't need an infant insert and I wanted something for in between k'tan and tula (without insert). I hate the infant inserts.
beefinch I thought the KTan and Ergo were both very user friendly for a first timer.
^^^ I agree! I did not love the Ergo thus my Tula love and struggled to figure out the infant insert, but we (myself and DS) are not known for our patience.
