Anyone planning permanent BC after this one?

Is anyone planning to get tied or get their SO snipped after this baby?

I'm pretty sure we're done after this baby, it will be our 4th and DH is 100% done. BUT even though the thought of having 5 kids makes me want to break out into hives i'm just not sure I want to do anything so permanent yet. It just seems so final. Like a chapter of my life is closing for good, and that scares me. 

If you're pretty sure this is your last, what are your thoughts on permanent birth control? If this isn't your last, when do you think you'll be ready to do anything permanent, if ever?

H is firmly done after this one, but I'd like to wait and see where the next few years take us (not committing to anything either way.) I will be going on the mini-pill/pull after this one since that works best for me personally.

To answer your question, I don't think I'll ever be ready to take permanent measures. Even if we are done after this one, I don't think I'd ever feel comfortable taking the option away from myself. (Talk to me when I have two under two and my story might change 😂).

H and I have agreed on 2 kids, but I'd like the option for a 3rd. The convenient thing about infertility is I likely won't have to do anything permanent. And, if we agree not to do anything permanent and we do get a spontaneous bfp, I guess I get my 3rd.

DH is absolutely getting snipped. He is more adamant about it than I am! He would have been ok being OAD, is fine with 2, but firmly against more. Not that I want more, either... It's just funny how you hear about men resisting the snip and mine is all for it.

H will get snipped, but I'll probably get mirena put back in until it happens. We do not want to be outnumbered by kids, no zone defense here.

That's great! DH is hesitant and says all the time about how he's not going to do it but I think deep down he knows that it's only fair

MF says he only wants two but I'm trying to convince him 3 is awesome, especially if this one ends up being a girl! (would like to try for a boy)
He says hes getting snipped no matter what but I also don't like that it is so final either, it makes me sadz We will see how everything rolls! but I definitely don't want to be on any birth control either way!

This is #2 for us and we might still have another one or two, so nothing permanent after this baby. I honestly don't think that either of us would go the permanent route, even after we are feeling happy with the # of babies.

DH is fairly convinced we should be done at 2. I'm not as convinced. He does not want to get snipped and I don't want to get anything permanent done sooooo....... I'll probably do the pill again until we see how we feel about 2 and evaluate from there.

Not sure. I had pretty bad PPD and was OAD for a while after DS. A few years ago I came around (H has always wanted more) so I think I'm going to wait and see how this one goes.

IUD 100% after October though because no matter how butterflies and rainbows a newborn might be this time around I still would want to give it a little time.

So done w hormonal bc too. I stopped like 7 years ago. When I went through my crazy hormone swings after my D&C it took me right back to bc pill feelings.

Still trying for #3. Once that happens I'm not sure we will do anything permanent right away. Maybe H will get a V in a couple years.

DH is likely getting a V over Christmas break. He complains about it but also understands it is the way to go. This is #2 for us and I'm AMA so we are done after this one. +1 to being done with hormonal BC. DNW! If for some reason I have to get a CS, I might also get my tubes tied...

We always talked about having two and my last appointment with the MFM confirmed there's no way I'm going through this again! I casually mentioned that my friend's husband is getting a V this week and he did not seem open to it at all. He was like oh I heard it doesn't feel the same and it may not even work. When the time times we will have a serious conversation about it.

Unsolicited advice here, but I think revisiting this is a great idea. Especially for something medical related like your situation you guys will want to be sure!

We're going to roll the dice. I'm perimenopausal so I'll actually be surprised if I have any more periods anyway. But whatever happens, happens.

So much depends how this pregnancy goes.

I could go either way (pending a healthy pregnancy) about more. But, because of IF, I'm tempted to just leave things be and not do any preventatives. I will NEVER use hormonal bc again. That's a nonnegotiable.

If I have a cs and we are done, it's possible I may just tie the tubes. But I haven't decided. I don't think I would have them tied if I don't have a cs. No sense for an extra surgery.

Not really sure about dh getting snipped.

We really haven't talked much about it. It really isn't something we can decide for another several months. This pregnancy really is the deciding factor for us

I've been thinking about what to do after this baby. I haven't been on BC of any type in almost 5 years, but I don't think the pull out method is really our best bet long term. Yesterday H asked if I wanted to have another after this baby. I joking told him no, he was going to get snipped. I think he ignored me. 3 kids scare me. IUDs scare me. I have no idea what my plans are.

I think we've had at least one, if not more, IUDs that didn't work in my other BMB (still got pregnant) so I don't plan to go that route.

I was on the pill basically since I hit puberty due to irregular cycles/excessive bleeding. I really don't want to do pills again, and I'm hopeful since my periods seemed a little more regular between DS and getting pregnant with #2.

Condoms are our go-to, DH doesn't mind them.

We are done after this and H has his heart set on his March Madness V, so that's the plan. I'll probably go on BC until March, just to be safe.

DH is adamant about getting snipped after this kid. After 2 C sections, I have no interest in anything permanent for me/more surgeries. If we have another kid, it'll be because we have one embryo left from IVF. We are debating that potential 3rd kid. But I suppose we should try 2 first.

DH getting fixed but he wants me to as well for double protection. I say I've been through enough and I'm good with just him getting fixed. If it doesn't work, then we have a surprise baby someday.
