FYI there has been a big shake up on this site. Some people are going over to the Scary Mommy site. I just wanted to post so no one was in the dark over here!

I'm quite inept at putting links in here but there is a stickied post under About Us and some threads in Parenting. Basically people are upset at the lack of new traffic and the lack of response from the mods who started this site.
Guess it does seem pretty quiet around here. I have no idea how someone would find us to join us. I had never heard of it before someone posted on the bump when everyone left and came over here.
I think life, especially life with kids, is pretty busy which makes it hard to find time to post.

I'm glad someone posted this because I was legit about to create the same thread! I'm definitely attached to our small group here and hope we can stick together either here, on SM, or even FB if we wanted to create a private group (I know not everyone will feel comfortable with the last option). But yeah there's craziness going on but it might die down soon with some people maybe realizing they overreacted.

Yeah looks like tons of people are leaving TCF. My bmb just switched to a new forum (not fb cause there were a few ladies who don't do fb). I can try to figure out how to create a secret fb group if everyone is on board. Unless someone else wants to! I'll post a link or something in our private board once I do! 😊

I know Larry happened. Please do not try to convince me otherwise. Please don't talk to me about coffee. I don't drink it. I don't caffeine. When I state my opinion, that is me chiming in on a topic. This is not me saying you suck at life if you do or feel differently. If I want to say that, I will. If I want to speak on you, I will.

The link to the other site is aplacetomeet.freeforums.net/ I'm still Kona over there. I'll probably be hanging out over there. If we want a LGBT forum we could request one.
I don't really FB so wouldn't be following there.
I does appear that this site will stay though so staying is an option too.

This is tricky. I don't mind FB, I'm not super active there but if the group is private (including shielding my posts from my FB friends, anyone know if that's the case?) I'm in. But I don't want us to be splintered- I.e. I'd miss you kona if FB is the route but that doesn't work for you. It's hard with a wee one to go to a bunch of different spots.
I'm not wading into all the drama here, as I don't frequent many boards. I don't know if this all started because there's not much traffic, but I don't mind it. Sure activity is good, and I miss folks when they drop off... but I like our small, close-knit group. Sometimes we're busy, sometimes we're more active.
You know how you have friends where you don't necessarily talk everyday, but you're still solid? That's what this feels like to me.

bexincanada yeah I feel the same way! I don't know that I feel we can bank on TCF sticking around and it would be good to have a backup plan. I'm open to another pro board if someone wants to ask that other site for it though for me I also like fb but would hate to lose people.
A couple regulars haven't weighed in yet... dannigirl and @rickiandjulie I know you're both busy with babies but any thoughts?

A Board has been created for you ladies under over there. If you would like some privacy for your board like not being seen by guests and only logged in members etc. Let me know.
Again, no pressure to come. Just wanted to know everyone is invited.

I was active on TheKnot around my wedding (2003.) There was turmoil and a bunch of us split off to a private board. 14 years later there are still about 25 (out of the original 40ish) people posting on a board regularly. Most of us live local to each other and periodically meet for happy hours, etc - but 99% of our interaction is daily online.
Then 6-7 years ago, I got back on TheKnot when the boys were younger and 'met' a big group of lesbian moms. There was another Knot shake up and everyone migrated to another site. It basically died off because new people could never find it and join and naturally by attrition, people left. A few remaining people split off to do a private FB page. Now there are only 5-6 of us left on the private FB page - but we are pretty close and have actually gotten together even though we are from all over!
