So I'm basically starting a thread to talk about a specific question I have, but I'm also curious about everyone else's babies napping schedules.
J has been going to daycare this week. Last week, I started a nap routine- at 90 minutes, or earlier if she seemed tired, I made sure J was fed, swaddled, dry and put on the white noise machine. She slept well. I didn't time it, so I'm not sure how long it was.
At daycare, I told them not to keep her up longer than 90 minutes, and to let her sleep as long as she wants to. She has consistently slept 90 minutes in the AM, and 4-5 HOURS in the afternoon. This hasn't effected her night time sleep at all. If anything, she is sleeping better.
She is in a great mood when she's up.
Is it okay to let her sleep this much? Would you ask the daycare to wake her up at 3 hours to eat? She's 11 lbs as of yesterday and 12 weeks.
And TTMA your baby's nap schedule.
(Prior to the "nap routine," J was up most of the day....unless she was asleep in her infant seat while we were out)
@priss08 are the naps purposely timed? Or is she just consistent?
They are outpost timed. But she's become pretty consistent the least few weeks. I needed a routine going because I have DS ans i try to give his days some structure. I think DD also benefited, she seems happier and more alert between naps.
Wow, I'm impressed with those long naps. Honestly, I would leave things alone if it's not negatively affecting anything else. We're not on any strict schedule here here though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I just go with the flow since DS is in preschool during the day. We'll probably fall into more of a schedule when I go back to work in a few weeks. DD is not usually go for more than 90 minutes...it's usually more like 60, but I just follow her cues.

I would leave it alone for now since it is the first week and her night sleep hasn't changed.
DD's nap schedule is whatever she wants it to be at this point. Mostly after she eats. Eating makes my kids sleepy. DS has fallen asleep mid-meal on more than one occasion.
We are only 6 weeks and pretty much sleeping all the time. I pretty much put her in the swing when she gets cranky and every other need is met. I feel like she only woke up to eat yesterday.
I would leave it for now. T isn't constantly doing anything yet. I also know that Clara's naps went to shit when she started DC so if she is doing fine there leave it for now especially if it isn't messing with nighttime sleep
I would leave it for now. DC is exhausting for babies until they get used to being there with all the new people and noises. We are on week 2 of DC here and while he's sleeping well, he's still falling asleep for at least a cat nap shortly after we get home.
No nap schedule here yet. For now, we'll just follow his cues on sleep.
At DC, they ask you a lot of questions about how you want your baby taken care of (obviously a good thing), but I walked out like am I supposed to have a schedule? Haha.
I feel much better. Thank you for all the responses.
I feel so inexperienced or loosey goosey...we have pretty much no routine (though we are at 6 weeks so still pretty young). He sleeps when he sleeps, and eats when he eats. If he gets fussy and isn't consoled with the boob then I figure out how long he was up, and if it's longer than 90 mins then I coax him to sleep with a diaper change, swaddle, rock and pacifier. He NEVER sleeps longer than 3-4 hours, so I haven't had the issue of trying to figure out whether or not to wake him up.
