For those contemplating vasectomies, you can tell your SOs my H is a urologist who does them fairly frequently and is perfectly happy to get one himself. In his opinion, the procedure and recovery are so quick and easy it's well worth it versus keeping your wife on hormonal birth control for years on end.
I will pass this along to DH! He's all scared of getting one.
My water broke in my car last time. I didn't have anything with me but luckily sitting kind of kept it under control. However when I got home and got out/stood up, it was water water everywhere! This time I have a towel and spare pair of sweatpants, underwear, two depends underwear, and a few pads stashed in my car. The trash bag is good idea and I will probably do that too.
38 weeks tomorrow and I haven't packed my hospital bag😂. I keep joking, "poor second child". With Dd1 I already had the carseat installed and everything ready to go.
39 weeks on Saturday and I haven't packed my bag at all. I've gotten lazier each pregnancy! Lol
Does anyone else (especially those with other kids) constantly run through scenarios about what they'll do if they have the baby on certain days?
I'm like "well, if baby arrives tomorrow, I'll call this friend to pick up the kids from school, and call our babysitter to see if she has any availability this weekend...." But I guess I don't have to worry about it anymore once my parents arrive Tuesday. That will be a big relief!

Yes! My parents are getting here on my due date so every morning I'm planning who I would call/what I would do if I went into labor that day. But if I go into labor on my due date then no worries since my parents will be here. I'm constantly going back and forth from wanting to go into labor NOW but also hoping she comes right on time so I have my parents to help. I just can't imagine another week alone with the toddlers in my current state 😂
sdlaura I SAH, we don't have any family around, and we haven't ever had a babysitter. My dad and and stepmom are coming on the 7th (due the 9th), so I'm praying this baby cooperates. Otherwise, I have two friends I can call. Plan B is not ideal.
violetrose I'm the same way in terms of wanting to meet baby now, but also worried about no help! This Saturday morning would be the worst day, timing-wise. Then I would have to figure out what to do with the kids for the entire 3-day weekend. Which would just mean I would probably be basically on my own in the hospital and DH would be on his own with the kids at home most of the weekend, and that's a lot less fun than us having the baby on a day preschool is open or we have my parents' help.
I feel like by worrying so much about an early arrival, I'm guaranteed to go past my due date
marshian I was on the mini pill and once my period can back (~9mths) I had a period every other week until I stopped taking it. I don't really have another viable option because I don't like taking birth control in general due to bad experiences.

I don't really care how quick and easy the procedure is. He's getting it done. I've endured enough! (Luckily he's on board with that logic too.)
We're debating on what to do for birth control. We want more kids and fairly close together. I also want to breastfeed and while many people do fine on the mini pill, I've heard from some who haven't. I'm thinking I'll try that and see how it goes.
I've gotten pregnant on the mini pill while breastfeeding. I don't trust it anymore!

We knew we wanted 2 close ish together so we went with charting and temping to prevent. I got my first PP period at 6 weeks even though I was EBF so it was back before I was even cleared for sex. One awesome thing though was my cycles completely regulated after birth. Prior to getting KU I was at 60-80 day cycles and after DD they were all 28-30 days, until I got KU with this LO. I will be doing an IUD this time though. Need to put researching them on my list of things to do.

I want DH to get a vasectomy, but he's not on board with that right now, but we also haven't looked into it seriously yet. I think we are just doing condoms. I personally don't trust the mini pill enough to use it, and I don't want any type of hormone to potentially throw things off for breastfeeding anyway. No IUD since my periods are long and heavy enough without it. Probably just condoms for us.
Re water breaking: my water didn't break until I was in the hospital in labor already with DD. I hated that part so, so much. It's like constantly peeing yourself. There's just so much!! I was worried about it happening this time before the hospital, but that was one perk of a scheduled induction. Before thst, i was seriously considering getting Depends just incase. We live in the city and don't own a car so I was trying to think of how to manage broken water if I had to take car service. But yeah, they broke it in the hospital and I still hated it. And it was still so much. And the nurse was commenting on it being so much, so I don't know if I have more than normal (But didn't measure as extra on ultrasound) or what. But it just. kept. leaking. Ugh.

Will be 38 weeks on sunday, still no bag packed! Have had a list forever but as I predicted, I am a tried and true procrastinator!
No plans for using BC. If we were to get pregnant without interventions-awesome. Otherwise I am chalking this up to the "only good thing" about IF.
A mom on my first bmb lapped us all in pregnancy. I'm pretty sure she was an if momma and she was pregnant with twins. She had them pretty early and around the time we all started having our babies she found out she was like 20 something weeks pregnant! It was a surprise to say the least, but an amazing one!
I used the mini pill for 3 months after DS then quit because we figured if I got pregnant again we were okay with it. Looking back, that was stupid and I'm glad I didn't get pregnant then! I ended up not getting a period until DS was 11.5 months old which I attribute to breastfeeding, but know better than to count on it for birth control. I have no interest in an IUD, so I will get the mini pill again and try to be better about taking it!

Thanks for all of the input on birth control. I think I want something nonhormonal so that limits options. Actually I think I want a vasectomy to avoid any surprises altogether but I keep telling myself this is not the best time to decide that.
3 of my labors started with my water breaking in the middle of the night. It was never enough to get on the sheets, just thought i peed my underwear. Then I realized I kept "peeing my pants" or I would have a gush during a contraction. We have a water proof mattress pad. Which is essential IMO for leaky boobs and baby spit up too. Lol. For laboring I sat on a chuck (?) pad or a towel.
Team no bag packed here too. But I also have an end date in sight, so I better hop to. How are you dressing your kid? Hospitals are cold so long sleeves and pants? But here we have serious summer heat, so maybe go home in short sleeves?

It actually took DH and I two years to conceive DD and we were days away from beginning our first attempt at IVF when we found out I was pregnant. We were told it would never happen for us without IVF. We chalked it up as a "once in a lifetime fluke" and so did our doctors. I never went on BC and 6 months later DS was conceived... then I went on the mini pill and this babe was conceived when he was 9 months. Just saying it can happen!

When my water broke with DD it was just like that. I actually didn't realize it was my water at first. I thought I just couldn't control my bladder until I called my OB and said "I keep peeing myself but I don't feel like I'm peeing...?" and she laughed and told me to go to L&D.
I mean... I have the baby stuff packed. That counts right? I just figure I will throw a couple things in there last minute. Watch me not have that chance though...
